Don't let the outside fool you. Once inside it's quite nice and the food definitely speaks for itself. We came today around lunch time to a very busy crowd. We were greeted and seated within minutes and had drink orders and menus to look over. We've been to the Litchfield Park location before so we had high hopes that the food would be just as good here. Their lunch menu has some really great options and i went with the Alfredo that comes with a side salad and drink. I added chicken to my pasta and couldn't wait to dig in. My husband was feeling a sandwich of some sort and ended up with the cheesesteak and added a side salad. Everything g came out pretty quick and it was all very good. My salad was fresh and plated well. The pasta was just the right portion where I was full but not overly and didn't feel so heavy. My husband said his cheesesteak was one of the better ones he's had, our server Christina was friendly and efficient. We never had to ask for refills or anything else and the busser was quick to remove any dishes we were done with. The location is small compared to the other one we have eaten at, but clean and there is a full bar inside. It was quite loud I will say, but once it died down a bit it was ok. The sound of everyone's voices definitely carried. I noticed a lot of to go orders being picked up so I know it's a popular spot near by for people. I first reviewed this place 13 years ago and gave it 5 stars. This was before the expanded locations and they started hiring cooks instead of meals prepared by the original chef. The nuance of flavors is now gone. Not to mention the meals are much more expensive. I wouldn't mind paying more if the flavors were there. Sadly it is a shell of its former glory. This place gives off a real mom and pop type vibe. They have a full ball small seating area and open kitchen (you can see it from your seat). We got there at around 6 and it was PACKED like a 45 min wait so we waited there was no empty seat in the house. What a cute family restaurant. On a busy Saturday night three of us stopped in for some hearty Italian cuisine. We sat at the bar while we waited for our table. When we were sat, I ordered the caesar salad and basil pesto tortellini - I died and went to heaven. With hearty chunks of chicken, this was such a treat. We have no idea of how we, two foodies, have lived in North Scottsdale for nine years and had never heard of this place. Looked at the Yelp photos, read the reviews and looked over the extensive menu and decided it was a must try. And, we were not disappointed. Arrived about 12:45 on a Sunday and it was crowded, but we were seated right away. The place is small, maybe only seating 70 or 80 patrons and that includes bar seating. It is busy and the servers although seemingly overwhelmed, rush about trying to do their best to serve the clientele. More servers is not the answer as the space between tables is small and they would just be running into one another. We had no pressing plans for the day and decided just to sit back, relax, be patient and enjoy the experience. We were finally contacted by Teresa, who delivered water, took our order and we sat back and listened to the surrounding lively conversations, the clanging of dishes and concluded that it felt like we were in a 'country' diner and the only place to eat within 100 miles. We each ordered a small Caesar salad to start and were pleasantly surprised by fresh romaine with croutons in a chilled bowl and perfectly dressed. For entrees, I had the black mussels with white sauce over linguine and my wife had the Pasta Giovanni which is chicken, sausage and mushrooms sauteed in a tomato cream demi glazed sauce over penne. Both entrees came with garlic bread. All we can say is 'delicious'. The portions are large and while I finished the mussels, my wife and a good portion of the Pasta Giovanni to box up and take home for another meal. Again, this is not anything resembling fine dining. But, it is very well-prepared food in a lively, but friendly environment. The back of the t-shirts worn by the servers reads something to the effect, 'Cannoli at Times Square where people arrive as Guests and leave as Family'. Omgggg I love the food here. Being from New Jersey they have really good pasta dishes. My favorite is penne ala vodka with chicken and the pollo ala limon. This is the closest I've had to New York Pizza in the valley. There's nothing like a pizza from NYC and I have to say, they have come pretty close. The cannolis are really good too. I recommend getting the ones dripped with chocolate. Every time I've called to place an order, I've had my order ready within 15 minutes or less. We ordered a cheese pizza, chicken cutlet parmigiana with ziti, and sautéed broccoli. The pizza is advertised as thin crust. But that thin crust is then carpet bombed with cheese. You can't detect the crust because you are chewing through excessive cheese. It was hard to finish a slice. The chicken dish was also the pits. A thick slab of breast was fried and then dumped into a plate of cold and hard ziti, that looks to have been exposed to air for a long time after it was cooked. How do I know this? Because each piece was cracking, was impervious to the tomato sauce, was cold and hard, lardy and tasteless. The broccoli had been blanched , was still hard, and not sautéed. It was served cold with tiny bitter pieces of garlic dumped copiously on top. Not a trace of oil or seasoning. Just horrendous! The acoustics are also not favorable. Sound bounces and one unruly table filled with four revelers filled the airspace with their unrestrained guffaws. Total damage was $60 for two. I will never return. I'm a native New Yorker and an Italian, second generation. This place is not even vaguely similar to genuine New York Italian food. It would be wise if the owners or manager would tell the cooks to stay off their cell phones while they're working. Food would get better with cooks who give a crap about the outcome. read more

We love real Italian food, this place is cleanly kept and cozy, the food is full of the best dishes we love to eat, the different pizza's are exceptionally delicious no natter which you pick. We chose a number of dishes for all to taste the authenticity we started with a mozzarella appetizer and sausage, soup is home made. The booths are comfortable, the center piece against one wall is an antique Italian hutch to die for, my grandma had one exactly like it! Looking around are a number of authentic photos of New York City from the past, there's many boroughs in the State of NY that folks from back east will be brought back in time, back to delicious memories reminiscent of a once great era. read more

Hubby and I went here on 4/22/24 for breakfast. We used to frequent the establishment when we lived near by. We ordered our meal and when our meal came, what a disappointment. He ordered 2 eggs (ok) sausage patti (mushy and greasy) with biscuit (good) and gravy (watery, bland, minced sausage, which was nonexistent). I ordered 2 eggs (ok), bacon (overcooked, crunchy like eating glass) with french toast (cheap, thin, bread and one slice of bread cut in half). This was not worth with a tip $35.00. Ordered Dinner for takeout on a weekday. Called it in before i got there and said it would take about 10-15 minutes. And when I got there in 15 mins- it was ready to go in a bag; perfect! I didn't have to wait at all! When I walked in, took a minute for someone to greet me, I was just kinda staring at the employees because it wasn't clear who I should talk to if I had a take out order. Staff was nice, everyone looked like they were working hard and my order was correct and can I just say the bag was heavy! That's good! That meant I had a lot of hearty meals in that bag. The only negative I would say is the location, it's right near a freeway exit which is nice, but don't forget about the big Castle next door (and no kids it's not medieval times)- it's an adult store and it's huge! This restaurant calls for a better location, but then again that would increase rent & food prices so who knows. Anyways- the food was delicious! Hot! And just what we ordered. The portions are larger, we got Chicken Picata, the fried mozzarella cheese (omg!) and another chicken plate (that I can't remember at the moment)- but I was able to save half of my chicken piccata for lunch the next day! We come here about once a year on our way to the airport for a 5 hour flight to Alaska. The first time we came we were amazed with the wait staff and the authentic Italian options. We are Italian so this restaurant being authentic and delicious was especially impressive to our family. We always make sure to start off with the fried mozzarella, which is to die for. This is probably what I've done in the past and would have done had my father not introduced me to this amazing local Pizzeria! My family and I visited Times Square Pizza on a Saturday early evening and it has a very friendly and homey cafe/diner feel. It was busy but comfortable and the staff was incredibly attentive and quick! Anytime I took a sip from my water there seemed to be someone on standby to fill it up! The service was great and I haven't even gotten to the food yet... For the dishes, we ordered: Joe's Special, Pasta Giovanni, Philly Cheesesteak and good o'fashioned Spaghetti and meatballs. Each of us at the table seemed to forget how to be social and speak because we were consuming all the delicious food. Everything was very savory and seasoned well but I have to rave about the Pasta Giovanni. Yes, this dish is titled as a "favorite," and right away the picture on the menu and description sold it for me, and it exceeded my expectations! My whole family also loved it and there was absolutely no leftovers to take home! On top of the amazing dishes, they also give you what seems to be huge slices of garlic bread! All-in-all, very generous portions and flavors. I'm kind of glad I don't live nearby because I know I would find myself eating here way too often! This place is amazing!
