Just got a root canal done and the dentist was quick and did a great job. I get bad anxiety at the dentist so appreciate how easy the procedure felt. The staff is great and friendly as well. I was a bit nervous but knew I needed to get a root canal on one of my front teeth after my dentist found the there was an infection starting at the base of the root. This review has nothing to do with the quality of work but more of the customer service. I was referred here from SmileWell. I was able to see the doctor that day for a root canal. The doctor did 1/2 of the service and told me to come back for the reminder work to be done. I paid for the service and left with my next appointment being the following week. Unfortunately the doctor called the day before my appointment and had to cancel for being out of the office on medical which is no problem. I understand stuff comes up and had no issues with rescheduling. My issue now is the doctor is now back in the office and still can't see me for over a month. I feel like if a doctor cancels then wouldn't you try to work hard to get your customers that have work 1/2 way done in there mouth be seen sooner? I still can't chew on my left side at all due to the fact the work is not done. I think he is a good doctor but should work better on the customer service. There is no way I come in for a root canal and it takes two months to complete. It's not fair to the customer at all. read more

I visited Timothy office today.. I was referred to him by my regular dentist for a root canal.. the receptionist had me fill out some paperwork and they did x rays. Timothy let me know I needed an extraction and he wasn't able to do it. I said ok and he said you can go to the front, I thought maybe the receptionist would refer me to someone else. Not all she said ok it'll be $150 for the consultation. I was mad at myself for not asking before hand. A root canal is something you never want to have done but if you HAVE to, I highly recommend Dr. Kwon. My regular dentist referred me to him for extra care needed for the root canal I had to have done. My experience with root canals is feeling like someone is using a mini jackhammer needle and plumbing wrench on my tooth. Not Dr. Kwon- the experience was not painful and he was precise with the equipment he used (some type of tool to determine proper depth to avoid hitting a nerve as much as possible). I will always ask for an Endodontist from now on if I can and specifically Dr. Kwon. I appreciated his gentleness and care as well as the professional staff who assisted him. In my case, there is a definite difference using an Endodontist (root canal and tooth pain specialist) for a root canal vs. a regular dentist. read more

DOCTOR KWON IS AMAZING!!!! I was referred to Dr. Kwon by my general dentist to have a root canal infection treated. As I'm sure many can relate to, the dentist has always freaked me out-especially a two-part root canal infection treatment. I expressed my anxiety regarding the treatment and Kwon actually prescribed me an anti-anxiety medication to take beforehand! Although I didn't find the med really helped, both appointments were completely painless and I was so surprised by the efficiency of both. I was referred by my dentist because she thought I may need root canal. I had my consultation and was told I needed to have the procedure done. I was charged 150 for the consultation and 1200 for the root canal but the 150 was to be applied so I would pay 1050 on the 2nd visit. So today I arrived to have it done. Now I've never had a root canal done but I've had periodontal work done and some fillings. I've always paid after the procedure was done. Well today as I walked in the receptionist says, I need to collect your copay of 1250. It caught me offgard because I was expecting to pay 1050 and that was the total, not a copay. So I said 12 dollars and 50 cents? Lol. She says no!!! 1250!!! Okaaaaaay um I was told it was 1050. She said oh ya 1050. Ok here's my card. Well 1st she tells me it's declined and do I have another card. I look at my chase account and it shows pending charge for 1250. I asked for my card and left. I've never been asked to pay for a service prior to services being rendered and then she over charges my card after she confirmed it was 1050???? Wtf kind of operation is this?? I felt so uncomfortable the entire time, it felt like a Tijuana shakedown. Worst experience at a dental office ever!!! read more

If you are reading this, you are likely looking for an endodontist. I received two referals from my dentist because a previously root canaled tooth was acting up. I called Dr Kwon. It was March and I'd already maxed out my dental, so I was cash out of pocket. They perform an evaluation and I'm told the procedure will cost $1400. And I'd need to pay $700 up front in order to get started. Now I don't know about you, but I keep minimal disposable cash in my checking. I let him know I'd have to transfer the money from a different bank, so I could pay $200 now and $500 in two days. I can't come back later because, seriously not so easy to take so much time off of work. They won't go for it and send me on my way. So July rolls around, I have the time and the entire $1400, so I call and make another appointment. The day before my appt, Dr Kwon calls me to cancel. He tells me its been 5 months, my tooth can't be saved, so I should see my primary dentist and have the tooth extracted. WITHOUT doing an examination. WHO THE HECK RECOMMENDS SOMETHING SO DRASTIC WITHOUT AN EXAMINATION? Dr Timothy Kwon, that's who. Glad I didn't tell him I had the entire $1400. I call the 2nd Endodontist I was referred to, DR RAY KUWAHARA, DDS. He takes the appointment, performs and exam and saves my tooth. How much you ask? Less than $1400. The office was kind enough to take $500 on the day of the appointment and 2 even payments a month apart for the balance. I don't know if this guy is any good at what he does, but he only cares about the dollars. No thank you. I prefer my medical and dental providers to care about their patients. read more

I don't normally write reviews but this one was a must!! I've had a root canal job done before and the pain was unbearable (maybe because I have extremely low pain tolerance). Hence the fact I am very sensitive to pain, my general dentist to do another root canal referred me to Dr. Kwon. I can't begin to tell you how PAINLESS the procedure was!!! Not only was he GENTLE and PRECISE during the procedure but he went over the specifics before (thoroughly going over all my options) and after (educating me on the work that was done and why) with much patience. Surprisingly, one of my dentist friend recommended Dr. Kwon. I live in OC but my priority was quality of work...sad to say, I have been to one too many experiences with bad dentists. His office staff accommodated my driving situation so Dr. Kwon completed my root canal in 2 long visits. I was having severe pain one day while I was at work and heard amazing reviews about Dr. Kwon. When I called to make an appointment they were able to see me same day on an emergency basis which was so accommodating, especially when you have tooth pain! Dr Kwon was extremely thorough during his diagnostic tests and then took the time to explain to me why my root canal treatment was necessary. During the procedure itself, I was at so much ease that I actually fell asleep during my treatment! Who would have thought that a root canal would allow me to take a nap?! The office itself is very clean, beautiful view, the staff is knowledgeable, friendly and explained to me what the co pay would be before the treatment was even started, so there weren't any surprises. Overall, it was an outstanding experience and if I ever need another root canal, I will come back to his office. Kwon is a lousy Endodontist. about 2 years ago, he was working on my #14 tooth, he sealed my tooth with a cotton ball and an untreated root in it, as result I need to find a organization to go in and redo what he did. I didn't know until that retreat root canal open my tooth up and as shock as he is he told me "wow, that specialist left a cotton ball in your tooth and an untreated root" he told me 3x to make sure I heard him correctly....If you are looking for Endodontists, do not go to Timothy. He was just in a hurry to collect his money from Dr.Didi another dentist who pretend to be a endodontis. Dr. kwon came by recommendation. After my bridge had broken, the tooth that was an ancor for the bridge split in half. After he took the x-rays, explained exactly what had to be done. I had a root canal previously, which was fine from another Dentist a few years ago. However, this involved inserting a stint up inside the tooth to hold it together and rebuild the bottom half before my new bridge is put in. I was amazed!!! No pain!!!, before, during or after the procedure! If I ever need another root canal, this is the only Doctor that will be performing it. He is excellent!!! read more

I was referred by my dentist for root canal operation from this guy. After examining my teeth with x-rays and sensitivity test, I was informed that my tooth doesn't necessarily need any further procedure. So I decided not to do anything with this tooth since he said it doesn't need to be treated which was fine with me. After less than 15 mins of examination, I paid my bill and went home straight happily. However, after couple weeks later I received a bill from his office saying that my dental insurance didn't fully cover my examination despite what I paid at the office before I walked out. I ignored those letters because it didn't explain why I was still liable for that bill. I gave my insurance information couple days prior to my examination in order to make sure I was paying a final payment on the spot after my examination. They claim that they did get an "estimate" so the rest of the amount needs to be paid through mail. I called my insurance to verify this and they said they should've sent in letter pretreatment estimate in order to get definite coverage fee instead of that vague "estimate." After few months later, I get a threatening letter from their office indicating that they will turn this over to collection agency and this will destroy my credit rating. I couldn't believe with my eyes they sent me this after not even calling me what I was liable for and explanations prior to sending me this threat letter. If you need to go to an endodontics, do not go there. I don't know how good Dr. Kwon is, but the way his admin. do their business, they make wall street bankers look like little lambs. read more

This place seems really shadey in how they do their business and something isn't right about this place. I agree with the others when they say that this doctor only cares about making money. I was referred by dentist for a root canal, but I did not get work done by Dr. Kwon because I decided not to and went with another root canal specialist and I'm glad I did. I'm sure Dr. Kwon knows what he is doing, but his staff seems as though they were poorly trained. I usually never have any problems with my insurance but for some reason this dentist doesn't take blue shield. After coming in and giving my insurance card, I assumed everything was ok since I heard the girl at the reception desk talking to my insurance company. They quickly called me in the back and proceeded with a consultation. After my consultation they THEN DECIDED to tell me that my insurance wasn't covered and that my co-pay would be $700 (which seemed pretty high to me as a co-pay), I said no thanks and would rather go to someone that takes my insurance, and then they told me I now owe $100 for the consultation after being there for 10 min. I've never ran into this problem before and why did they wait to tell me this AFTER my consultation???? He then blammed that it was my fault because no dentists ever check your insurance before you come in, which is a total lie, every dentists checks, he is trying to make up for someone who wasn't doing their job. He then said that he would just bill my insurance. I talked to my insurance and told them the story, they told me their numbers were wrong and they weren't suppose to charge that high.
