Excellent food and service! We kept finding restaurants that were too busy and ended up at Timothy's. Menu looked good, atmosphere was nice and peaceful and the service was spot on. Three of us ordered the horseradish-crusted Michigan Whitefish and it was amazing! Served over arugula with cherries, jicama and Gorgonzola cheese with balsamic and lime sauce. Oh my gosh - so yummy and interesting! Key lime cheesecake was great too! Definitely worth a visit!

Hmmm... I had high hopes for this cute, vintage spot. I love the history, the look, the patio and location. What a disappointment. There are some serious training issues that really need to be addressed. From the hostesses to the bartenders to the kitchen - there were mishaps from beginning to end. I had a reservation, checked in and asked to be seated on the patio. The mousey hostess, looked scared and said she had to ask the manager. 5 minutes later she said it was ok. She walked us past 6 cute tables and brought next to the kitchen door and exit to the parking lot. She said all of the other tables were reserved. I suggested we just grab a table in the bar. She asked 4 different times if we were going to sit at the bar. When I would point out a table, she would say they were reserved. Every single table was pre-assigned?? I finally sat myself at the bar. The bartenders were doing their thing but offered nothing extra. We did not feel welcome at all. I watched a waitress sample a cocktail the bartender had made. When my friend ordered her oysters from the appetizer section as her entree, the bartender left and put in the order. We had to call her back and re-explain that was her dinner and I wanted to order mine as well. I asked to make sure everything came out together since my friend's order was not an appetizer but her dinner. When my friend's order came out and mine did not, the bartender threw up her hands and said, "Well, I told them!" and walked away. The items to be included in my friends order were not there. Of course it was confusion again. Shamefully handled by the bartender, who said she wasn't sure what was supposed to be included. Then, two different women came out, corrected my friends ordered and offered empathy with a lovely attitude. Wonderful!! We ate and left quickly. I could not wait to wrap things up. And you guessed it, every single table I asked about still sat empty as we left. This truly was a 1 star experience but the food tasted great (once corrected) and the 2 manager ladies offered warm, personalized customer care. Note to management: TRAIN YOUR STAFF!!

The spaghetti here is delicious and full of flavor. The sauce has a nice balance of acidity and sweetness, and the pasta holds up well with every bite. It is one of those meals that feels comforting and satisfying.

Really rough. Wagyu was all grizzle. Fries were cold. Waitress was lovely. Beer was also cold - extra star for that.

We ordered the whitefish, which was really good, very buttery and generous portion size. The ribs were fairly tender but salty. The coleslaw was nice and I liked the potato salad the best (compared to the fries or red potato side options). My husband and was very interested in the walleye, but we wanted to mix it up. It was nice to share a little meat and fish. Our toddler ate up all the kids mac and cheese. And the blueberry fruit pie with ice cream was a fun way to end the meal - not too sweet. Service was friendly and attentive and the food came out quickly. Definitely a solid place.

(About a 12oz serving) To be fair, there was a pickle, celery stalk and a mini slider of pimento cheese sandwich, but that was it. Very bland and basic mix. Just not good for the price. As for the meal, after seeing the prices, we decided to split a "deconstructed French toast" plate. It was 3-4 slices of French toast, cut sideways and a slight drizzle of frosting. It did come with a nice handful of fresh fruit, but there again, not really worth almost $20. The server was great. Very responsive and friendly. If you're into the hip, trendy coffee shop style place and budget really isn't the issue, then you'll probably have fun with some friends for a meal out. But if you're an every day Joe, looking for a hearty meal, I now understand why the breakfast joint down the street had a line outside.

We grabbed a beer and a glass of wine at the bar while we waited. The atmosphere is one of my favorite things about this restaurant. It's open, welcoming, and full of personality. I loved all of the dog photos throughout the restaurant and their "Sit. Stay. Eat!" theme, it gives the place such a fun, relaxed vibe. The menu is awesome, I honestly had a hard time deciding because everything sounded so good. We started with the truffle fries and they were incredible. For my entrée, I chose the grilled red snapper tacos, they were delicious. The fresh pineapple salsa paired perfectly with the fish, and I especially loved the pickled red cabbage on top. The snapper was grilled perfect. My husband and daughter shared the grilled shrimp po'boy which turned out to be a great decision because it's a generous-sized sandwich. They both liked the Cajun remoulade sauce and the soft telera roll it was served on. They also ordered a side of onion rings. My son enjoyed the cheeseburger from the kids menu. Our server was friendly and attentive. The Stray Dog has great food, a fun atmosphere, and excellent service. It's easy to see why it's such a popular spot. We will definitely be back the next time we're in New Buffalo!

What left me puzzled is food. What I loved were fries, round shaped which I thought was rather unusual and just the right amount of salt, crispiness, softness inside. That's about it though. As a main dish I picked prosciutto focaccia and while on paper it looked great, it came out very dry, almost stale, I didn't enjoy it at all. While fries were great, the portion of it was tiny. Like, 10 or 11 fries in a small plate. My partner got a chicken sandwich and it was good. Now, the kids got kids burger which comes with fries too and I swear the kids plate had double the fries compared to my side. We also got kids pasta and it was the same size as someone's pasta from our party. I mean, great value for kids menu items, sure, but I'm just not sure why adult dishes are so slim compared to kids. When they brought the check we noticed two items in it that we didn't order, which we realized after paying for it and looking at the receipt (they use portable terminals and have an option to text you the receipt). Our server corrected the mistake and refunded the difference for the two items we didn't order promptly after we pointed it out but this still left a bad aftertaste for us; we don't always look at receipts and this one would've gone unnoticed for sure, we only looked because total seems a bit too high. I also noticed that the soup upcharge on the menu is $2, but on the check it was $3. Pointed it out to the server too but she didn't do anything about it. It's just a dollar so we didn't press for it, and again, only noticed it because we started looking at the receipt due to unusually high total. Anyway, it was nice to visit, but we won't be back.
