Service staff was very nice and super accommodating but the food was not worth the price tag. I was on my way home from a day trip to Washington, MO and I drove through Hermann. The town looked cool with all the breweries and wineries around so I stopped at this steakhouse for some wine and a steak. The service staff let me know the kitchen was transitioning from lunch to dinner so I could get drinks while I waited. I got a bottle of local cherry wine that was really good! Once the kitchen was open (around 4:30), I placed an order for fried portobellos. The horseradish sauce with the mushrooms was tasty but I only got 6 slices for $12. I ordered the prime rib which came with steamed veggies, a baked potato and a dinner salad. I didn't really have time to eat my salad before the food arrived but I was hungry since the mushrooms were so sparse. The prime rib was very tinder but not much seasoning on the exterior. Usually, au jus helps combat the lack of seasoning but it just tasted of beef flavored water. The steamed veggies looked overcooked before I ever tasted them and they were. Service was amazing!! Brandy, let me know how long I should expect to wait so I wouldn't be disappointed. My waitress, Chris, got everything perfect and didn't make me feel rushed. This was an excellent experience and I highly recommend you make time to stop here! The outside seating is delightful, the inside is comfortable and spacious with a wonderful ambience. I highly suggest the crab cakes and Seafood Spätzle and Cheese!!!! I prefer the whisky neat, but if you're not a a whisky drinker, they have wine and delicious cocktails. We just did appetizers, salads, and sandwiches. The food was good and of average price. Only complaints was it took several requests before we got silverware or napkins. There were no appetizer plates provided and no napkins, so eating them was tricky. While the food was good, the service needed some improvement. Only place open on a Wednesday night for dinner after getting in town. Was excited to try it since I liked the brewery/steakhouse name. Quiet atmosphere. Appetizer of hot pretzels looked like those pretzels you get at the grocery store and heat up. They were good though. Just not worth $9. Based on this, we went for the burgers instead of trying the prime rib or Spatzle. Burger was fine and did the job. Hope to try the brewery next time we are in town. The beer was good. Didn't know what to expect when dining here. My wife and I stayed in the inn at hermanoff and they gave us a coupon for a free dessert so we decided to give this place a try. The environment looked old and rustic but don't let that stop you. The staff was very friendly and greeted us as we walked in to the establishment. We decided to share the crab cakes and the potato pancakes. We could have stopped there as the food was a flavor bomb. We also got the pork schnitzel which was served with red cabbage and a warm potato salad. For dessert we got the German chocolate cake which was a little cold but the flavor didn't disappoint. Tin Mill Restaurant is a great place with a cool ambience. We sat at the bar just for a few beers and ended up ordering a slice of their chocolate lovin spoon cake, which our server warned us that it was pretty rich, but it was still good. While we were there overlooking their fairly new menu, we asked how their Lobster Mac & Cheese was and our server was awesome and brought us a sample of it. The sample of Lobster Mac and Cheese that we got was fantastic and I'll definitely be ordering that next time I go there. Overall, great experience! After a day of wine tasting in Hermann, my group and I visited the Tin Mill to enjoy a nice dinner on the patio area. As we ordered our drinks, we began what was the common theme of the night... waiting a RIDICULOUS amount of time for every single thing we ordered. We waited about 20 minutes for drinks -2 iced teas and 1 beer. As we waited, we observed the tables around us.... everyone growing agitated and curious as to what the hold up was... after receiving our drinks, refilling our glasses THREE TIMES, and placing our food order, our waitress returned another 30 minutes later with some cold cheddar biscuits "on the house" as an apology for the wait with no answer as to when we could expect our food. We devoured the biscuits as our hunger turned into pure HANGER (anger + hunger). My friend had ordered a Bloody Mary while we waited and was told the bartender "was making it" three times different times during a thirty minute time span..... very confusing When the food made it out after about an hour and a half of waiting, it was cold/Lukewarm. I could have only presumed the cod for the fish and chips was freshly caught since it took so long. For the price and the wait time, the food was so more than disappointing. My chicken fried steak looked like it was fried about four times... and my friend's fish looked like it wasn't completely done. All in all, the experience was not worth a return visit. read more

Group of us started out here for lunch. The prices were a little high for what we got. Drinks were okay but husband loved his beer. The group all ordered appetizers with the exception of two. One ordered salmon at $30 that came out raw so he didn't eat that. The other had schnitzel that was undercooked but edible. That's a pretty shitty way to treat customers. Second, my dinner (BBQ Chicken) was way overpriced for what you get. Third, the flavor of my meal just wasn't great. It was okay and prepared correctly, but not worth the price. Fourth, three other diners in our group didn't finish their meals due to the poor quality of what they got. A couple were chicken and rice soup that was closer to risotto and had almost no chicken (they were actually searching for a couple of tiny pieces of chicken) and what they found was rubbery - like canned chicken. This was a Saturday afternoon and the restaurant was not overcrowded. The only reason I'm giving this place a one star is because I can't leave zero. 15 ladies made the trip to Hermann over the weekend for a bachelorette party to celebrate one of our very best friends getting married. I spoke with whom ever runs their Facebook messaging system and made a reservation for Saturday, May 1st, for our larger group. I figured a Saturday in Hermann, we would for sure need a reservation. Now, before I write this next part, I would like to let it be known that I myself, am a FOH manager in a restaurant, and many of the other ladies that were with us were bartenders, servers, and even a bar owner.... so all of us understand that everywhere is short handed right now. The lack of customer service that was shown, not only to our group, but to a small party of 2 ladies (that were not with us) was just unreal. I made the reservation for 7pm. We showed up at 7 on the nose, thinking our table would be ready. Wrong. We were greeted with a finger point as to where our table was. Walked in to the room where we were to be seated and our table wasn't ready. No hostess to take us to our table, no menus on the table... the "server" that was there that night was incredibly rude to us. He told us that he "didn't have time to wait on our party, and that it would be at least 45 To an hour before he could get to us." While I respect his honesty, it was the tone he used and the attitude that he had - like we were the biggest inconvenience. This is why I made a reservation, so they could accommodate such a big party and prepare themselves. We stood at the bar and tried to get a round of drinks so that our server could catch up and our table could be ready. The bartender looked up and said "it'll be at least 30 minutes before I can get to you, you're better off to go somewhere else." SERIOUSLY?! It would have been much different if I wouldn't have made a reservation 4 days in advance! Absolutely terrible customer service! I DO NOT RECOMMEND! read more
