My hunnay brought us here he had been here before. I opted for the half an order fajita nachos and they were delicious and the portion was right on point with meat and they have a spicy salsa you ask for which is delicious way better then what they offer you at first which is literally just tomato juice with jalapeño and onion. I did have a house margarita and to be honest it was just meh tasted super sour and just wasn't my cup of tea that's the only reason for my 4. I've been eating at Tino's since I was in high school in the 70's. Tino always treated my family with a hearty welcome, and the food is excellent. I LOVE the fresh salsa, and have traveled with it to visit friends in other states. Yeah, it's kind of a hole-in-the wall kind of place, but the original restaurant was quite nice. Tino's is an unfriendly place that discourages lunch groups from eating there. My wife and I went there after church and saw some close friends who invited us to join them. We ordered our lunch and the two drinks required to qualify for the coupon to buy one meal get one half off. When presenting our coupons at the end of the meal we were rudely told only one coupon per table. Now for the review: The food is mediocre at best and expensive. If you can't use the coupon it's not worth it. The requirement to buy two drinks offsets any savings. If you do decide to go there and use the coupon, do not go with friends or family who might also have a coupon. This is not a place to go for good food with a friendly atmosphere that caters to groups, friends or family. There are many fine Mexican restaurants in this area. This is not one of them read more

1st visit for lunch. Friendly neighbor Mexican Restaurant wait staff seem to know everyone who came by for lunch. We have driven by many times but closed on Monday and Tuesday. Warm chips and fresh made salsa came to the table and they where delicious. The salsa was some of the best I have eaten. Tiki Hubby and I shared 2 different lunch menus to try. We tried the 3 enchiladas lunch came with one beef, one cheese, and one chicken. and the chili relleno and beef chalupa with beans. Everything was hot and fresh. Hmmm. Everything we ate needed salt and that's okay. We added salt to the French fries and quesadilla, the salsa and the chips, the menudo and the Chile Reino. Most of the food was good despite the salt issue, which was easy to fix. We were the only Hispanic people eating at the time. Maybe we just have a high expectation because we've eaten Mexican food our whole lives. We also grew up in California and just moved to Texas and maybe the food just taste a little different. It was fresh food and the owner and staff were amazing. The place is clean. They did vacuum with a small shark vacuum 25% of our meal which was kinda distracting. We did appreciate the effort to keep things clean. We needed napkins but didn't ask but I wish they would give a stack with the meal.. (we have kids) lol.. I was asked 5x if everything was good within 30 min that was good and got 3 refills on coffee, which tasted fresh. They cleared the plates that were empty quickly to make us comfortable. The menudo meat was over cooked and needed some pigs feet in the pot to add flavor. Maybe a splash of caldo de pollo or SALT. There was allot of meat and I didn't feel like they cheated using too much Hominy. I'm a menudo snob and literally menudo is life for me. I don't mean to be critical! From 1-10 I give it a 5.5. The kids quesadilla was loaded with cheese and for 4.99 I was impressed with the amount of fries they added to the plate. The kids enchilada was meh.... The sauce was bland and average. I give the red sauce a 1 out of 10. The Customerservice was a 10 out of 10. The female that works here is amazing she's maybe the owners daughter. read more

What a great start to a Sunday! Tino's Too is much bigger inside than it looks driving by. We used to eat at Tino's at the mall, then maybe once here but hadn't done so in years. I forgot how much I enjoyed it. We were greeted by multiple employees as we entered and were seated, and had chips and salsa immediately. Miss Sandra was our server, and she was great. I ordered a frozen margarita, husband ordered a michelada - both were very good. He ordered a chile relleno with enchiladas, rice and beans. He enjoyed them. I had enchiladas with the spicy chili on top, rice and beans. All were piping hot and very good, the first bite of enchilada took me down memory lane to the mall, I think the recipes haven't changed a lot! Our chips and salsa were so good, and once I ordered the spicy, Miss Sandra brought me a spicier salsa, also SO good. She also brought us some grilled and spiced jalapenos - delicious! It's comparable to El Fenix in some ways but it's definitely a mom and pop place. Big portions. Big menu. Chile verde on the menu which can be hard to find anywhere. Chips and very fresh handmade salsa. There were some peculiarities. I had the large fishbowl margarita on the rocks and didn't feel a buzz. My Chile relleno was soggy. Got the Wednesday special 2 Enchiladas with rice & beans X 2 Both types of Enchiladas and also added guacamole as a side. For desert, split a flan. Food came out quickly and was tasty, especially when mixed. The guacamole was bright and fresh with a great flavor. The flan texture was more like a cheesecake than traditional flan but it had the distinctive taste of flan with a caramel topping and whipped cream. It was a great ending to a solid meal. Would I say that this place was distinctive and a place that I would want to come back to soon? Not particularly but, it was a solid performer in an ocean of institutional foods without character. In that context, I was able to stretch from a solid 4+ which I wanted to give to a 5 since there are no 1/2 points. So guy at work chose this place for lunch, at first I was skeptical. Sign by door said something about "best Mexican food". In my head I'm like that's a bold statement. Of course they serve chips and salsa, I figured ehh it will be your typical Tex mex salsa. It was but it's as if the staff that brought to the salsa and chips bread my face and politely asked before he retreated "would you like some spicy salsa". Immediately I said yes please, let me tell you guys that salsa was the bomb. Cudos to the staff member who offered that I would of never guessed they had a spicy salsa. So the main plate, it did not disappoint. The enchiladas were good and the good ole simple bean and cheese tostada with lettuce. Such simplicity about the tostada, add on some of that spicy salsa and omg. I left the plat clean, oh I almost forgot I really don't know if they give these "Chile toreados" out or if it was because I ordered the spicy salsa that they brought them out. For those of you that don't know what that is it's simply Serrano peppers grilled and tinos puts a seasoning on it that just boosts that flavor. WHERE'S THE CHEESE... Looks really inviting from the outside, like one of those hole in the wall places that has just to die for food. It was a cold winter day and when I came in it was warm and cozy. The manager of the place was wearing a bright turquoise short sleeve shirt, he was older, well mannered, well kept and well spoken... for a second I felt like I was in the diner on Breaking Bad. Waiter came and we had a little trouble communicating because I don't speak Spanish and he doesn't speak English. My two chili rellenos come and they don't look like what I expected, as they were not like I've ever had before. After a couple forkfuls, I cut the pepper open and don't see any cheese. So I call the manager over and tell him I asked for cheese, he said that is cheese, I said where is the cheese, he said would you like more as I'm here to serve you. So kind of him, but I'm almost positive they forgot to put in the cheese because there is no way that that is how they normally come. At least I've never ever had a chili relleno like that. Maybe I'll come back when I speak Spanish and can make sure I order what I intend on eating... until then adios! read more

So, honestly I didnt know what to expect from a small looking restaurant situated between an auto dealership and an escape room, but I was pleasantly surprised. When I entered, I was immediately greeted and was pleased to see a mix of people eating here. There were families, couples, and myself, so it wasnt like those sad time stands I'm used to on the west coast. The family style restaurant is a bit worn, but the staff was peppy and attentive. The tables and cutlery and booths all seemed clean and in good order despite being older. The menu seemed regular with reasonable prices as you'd expect from a family restaurant, and everything sounded fine, but I showed up on a weekend for the ultimate hangover food and og restorative, menudo. I didnt know what to expect for a bowl at that price point, but I'm still glad I got it. The bowl was very generously sized, and it had more actual tripe in it than any other bowl of menudo I've ever ordered which has traditionally, for me at least, been more of the pozole corn bits and a few random cuts of beef than tripe. The stew was well prepared since the broth had a deep flavor without any of the barn house stank or overly thick layer of grease you get at other places. The tripe itself was almost all the better honeycomb part and I saw almost none of the book section. The plate of dressings they gave me had onions, chopped jalapeños, cilantro, and two thick lime wedges. They served it with standard tortillas, instead of the soup variety, but they also gave me chips and salsa. I practically inhaled the entire bowl, it was so good. I will definitely return again and recommend this place if youre looking for authentic cuisine in a relaxed family setting. read more
