The chips were quite nice and the burger... okay. It wasn't anything amazing. A little boring is all I could gather. It needed something like ranch or tangy aioli to give it a bit more zing. Overall a decent place to stop for food and for a reasonable price. But nothing totally amazing.

My roast chicken wrap was pricey for the size. $18 with no accompanying chips but it too was tasty and I enjoyed the combination of the mellow tasty cheese with the red onion and roasted capsicum. The colour and taste of the sauerkraut really topped it off but it was a bit messy to eat. If you have a sweet tooth, there are a variety of cakes to choose from (served with ice cream or cream). It can get very busy so booking ahead is a good idea but there is usually enough space for walk-ins. It is table service with pay at counter. Despite how busy they get they are a rarity in that they split bills, which I love. Yes, they might miss something on your order or forget to get that extra drink but I'm happy to overlook that. The tables I find interesting and the use of space is relaxed. I don't like sitting in someone else's pocket so this place is good for me. Included in the decor are things of interest which keeps you looking about while you wait for your drinks or food. There is some outdoor seating which puts you right by the road. If you don't mind the traffic noise you do get a bit of a view across the road to Lake Macquarie. So far it's my go to place when I go down to the lake.

The chocolate thick shake I ordered was large but needed more chocolate with most of it drizzled along the inside of the cup rather than in the drink itself. Thickshake whilst a reasonable price of $6 and full chocolate flavour was a milkshake. Lots of places not getting this right of late! My mums lamb burger looked great and she loved it. Herb chips were crisp and well seasoned. My felafel wrap wasn't what I was expecting. I pictured patties or balls but this was thin and spread across the wrap. Tasted fine though and I enjoyed the pickles that came with. Bought a slice of chocolate baklava cheesecake to share at home with my partner. The slice was more than generous. I'm not big on cheesecake, nor is my partner or baklava but the combination is perfect. Not too sweet. Cheesecake balanced the often sickly syrup and the chocolate base and pieces completed the trio. One of their Easter treats that can be preordered but may be a staple on their menu now. Definitely get some of this! Flies were an issue with the open door and more than enough to be a nuisance.

They do have a small selection of pastries and food which I'm assured are excellent. Is a little noisy from being on the main road, but an indoor seat sorts that out. Air conditioning helps with the heat too.

But that isn't fair because Good Brother Espresso looks good and their coffee was equally so. Our time here felt like a pit stop so I didn't have as much time as I would have liked to soak up their atmosphere but it definitely felt like a cafe you could bring your laptop along to and work the morning away, or settle in to read your favourite book. The menu seemed to be pretty standard cafe fare and I'm looking forward to going back and trying more than a coffee and the delicious morsel that was a fig and date roll.

ETA February 2013: I haven't had a chance to try anything yet, but it appears that there may be a change of management - the decor is much cheerier, the staff are so much happier and the menu looks very interesting and tempting. As soon as I get a chance to try it out, a new review will appear.
