I needed a hat blocked, cleaned, and steamed - and it was a rush order! - and there was only one place to turn: the fine haberdashers at Tiny Media Empire. I got it back in under 24 hours, and I looked smashing at my great-uncle Cyril's funeral. I wanted to deduct a star because I didn't ask for any major alterations, but when I got my hat back, there was a tiny image of some sort of curly-haired cartoon dog on the brim. Very strange. Pros: Mechanics are well skilled. Cons: All management with whom I have interacted (specifically, Rolando) are defensive and deceptive. It's been a very long time since I've written a Yelp review, but my experience with Groovy Automotive was so bad I felt the need to warn the rest of you Austinites considering Groovy Automotive as a vendor for your non-oil-change service needs. I have no hesitation recommending Groovy Automotive for their oil change services. They get the job done quickly and competently. As to actual auto repair services: unless you know exactly what your car or truck needs done, you will not get an honest job for an honest price. If, on the other hand, you know exactly what your car needs, by all means go and request those services. The mechanics there are skilled and will get the job done well. But beware the call from the store manager telling you that you need additional service X. Whether or not you actually need additional service X, it will be recommended to you. Whether or not that service will actually benefit your car, it will be recommended to you as a solution to the original reason you brought your car to the shop. My experiences dealing with store management in follow-up to the performance of an unnecessary, unneeded, and ineffectual service done on my 30-year-old truck to address a problem unrelated to the reason I had the truck towed to the shop in the first place have been extremely negative, and I have initiated a dispute through American Express because the manager, Rolando, cannot get out of his own way and simply refund the worthless services he recommended as a solution to a problem completely unrelated to the services he recommended - I brought the truck in with an exhaust leak and he said it needed a tuneup. Also note: I've asked Rolando to have the owners call me several times. He claims, "They've called; they're trying to get in touch with you." Except that I have caller ID like everyone else in America. And they're NOT trying to get in touch with me. In any case, proceed with caution on anything more complex than a fluid/oil change. Hooray, another arty film shot on DSLRs that glorifies generation x,y & z hipsters. The only mention of pre-1990's posters (which are the era that truly defined the term "gig poster") is in the description sentence above, and for five seconds during the beginning of the documentary where an artist holds up a retro-styled poster and says how he ripped it off in one of his works. While I do admire the attention brought to music & art in general, the film just feels like an exhaustive name-dropping session of contemporary artists. The inclusion/mentioning of groups like Mondo was somewhat appropriate, however the segment seems to abruptly position itself near the end, and then the focus quickly shifts back to the music poster crowd. On a personal note, I feel like too much time is spent on Daniel Danger who just comes off as narcissistic, art school dickweed... surely he's one of the director's best friends or something and that's the explanation. read more
