We have had such a wonderful experience with Abbotsford Childcare Wonder Years, and we feel…read moreincredibly grateful that our two youngest children have had the opportunity to be cared for here. Our boys, Rafael and Phoenix, started at the same time but were in different groups, so we have had the opportunity to experience both the infant program and the 3-5 year old program. Both have been wonderful, in different ways that have really suited each stage of our children's development. Rafael's teachers in the 3-5 year old group have been absolutely amazing. They are gentle, patient, easygoing, loving and caring, while also providing the children with consistency, routine and structure. They have created an environment where he feels safe, comfortable and genuinely happy to be there. We have always felt that they see the children as individuals while still providing the routines and expectations that are so important at this age. Phoenix started in the infant group at 11 months old and is now 2 1/2, so his teachers have been a consistent and incredibly important part of his life for quite some time. They have cared for him through so many stages of development, and we have been continually impressed by how attentive and nurturing they are with the babies. When Phoenix first started, he was still exclusively breastfed and had never taken a bottle in his entire life. He also refused every type of milk other than breast milk, which made the transition to daycare a little intimidating for us. His teachers worked patiently and closely with him to help him become comfortable being away from me without forcing a bottle or relying on formula. They focused on feeding him solid foods, keeping him engaged and playing, and helping him gradually adjust to his new environment. It has been amazing to see how much he has grown during his time here. He has become a child who loves to eat, make art, socialize with other children, and absolutely loves interacting with babies. Seeing his confidence and personality develop has been one of our favourite parts of watching him grow at Wonder Years. The daycare does a great job of keeping the children engaged, active and learning throughout the day. There are lots of interactive toys and activities, riding toys for the older children, and plenty of opportunities to play outside when the weather allows. There is a dedicated, fully gated outdoor space at the front for the infant group and another fully gated space at the back for the older children, giving each age group a safe and appropriate environment to play and explore. We also really appreciate how much the children get to experience outside of the daycare itself. Both of our boys have participated in field trips and outings, including library visits, nature walks around the neighbourhood, local park visits and bigger excursions such as trips to the splash pad at Mill Lake. It is wonderful knowing that their days aren't simply spent indoors -- they are getting opportunities to explore their community, experience new things, be active and learn through play. Communication with parents has also been excellent. Ms. Sue does such a wonderful job of keeping communication a priority. We receive daily pictures of our children and updates about what they have been doing and learning that day. As a parent, those little glimpses into their day mean so much, especially when you can't be there to see it yourself. Each classroom also has a calendar so parents can see what activities and events are coming up and know what to expect. And we can't say enough about Ms. Gul, the owner. She is incredibly kind, fair and understanding. She has created an environment where we feel comfortable communicating with her and feel that both the children and the families are genuinely valued. Having an owner who is approachable, reasonable and caring makes such a difference when you are trusting someone else with your children. Most importantly, we have always felt that our children are genuinely cared for. There is a big difference between a daycare that simply supervises children and one where educators know your child, understand their personality, notice their individual needs and genuinely care about their wellbeing. Our experience at Wonder Years has very much been the latter. Leaving your children in someone else's care is a huge leap of trust, especially when they are very young. We have felt supported throughout that process and have been so happy with the care, communication, activities, routines, safety and overall environment. We would absolutely recommend Abbotsford Childcare Wonder Years to other families. Our experience with both the infant and preschool programs has been overwhelmingly positive, and we are so thankful to Ms. Gul, Ms. Sue and all of the educators who have cared for our boys, supported them and helped them grow into the happy, social and confident little people they are becoming.
