Last two visits have been more than disappointing. Service has been sorely lacking... coffee refills a looonnngggg time coming... and both times they have been out of my first few choices and then last time even my third choice they were out of one of the components which ended up being a sorry substitute. I really liked this place when they first opened but would definitely not recommend now. We tried this place out with a half price Fridays gift certificate, which I almost didn't purchase because most breakfast places have been disappointing lately for the quality/quantity you get for the ever-increasing prices. I am so glad I did! The food was wonderful, served hot, and generous portions. Very much worth the menu price. They also have a kids menu with meals ranging from about $6-$8. We ordered the chicken fried steak (a favorite of mine and this one was perfect), blueberry pancakes (full of blueberries and so good), chilaquiles (fresh and flavorful with mild spice), and the kids French toast (thick and crisp). This place was a surprise. Looks so unassuming from the parking lot, but don't be fooled - this is a great breakfast spot! Everything is made from scratch and exceptionally tasty. From what I can tell, most of their ingredients are local, too. Bonus points! They serve breakfast and lunch/brunch, but if you're gluten free, you'll want to order from the breakfast menu. The place is super clean, and pretty casual. Kind of feels like there should be a jukebox in the corner. I don't usually go out for breakfast, but I have learned that I am definitely missing out, especially with this place. Two of us at the table had the the Hashbrown Avocado Toast (only GF item on the lunch menu) and, man, was it yummy! The perfect thing for breakfast -- hash browns, carmelized onions, tomatoes, cotija cheese, jalapeños, cilantro, etc. Yeah, I added an egg over the top and a side of bacon, to turn it into breakfast, but don't judge. Visited last week and we were so impressed with this place. Before posting a review, we wanted to give it another try just in case the first time was an exception. It wasn't. I love Benedicts, and the Baja and Irish Benedicts were both sensational. Literally they both looked ready for the cover of Food and Wine, and the taste was perfect. Baja ingredients were exceptionally fresh and the vegis didn't overwhelm the eggs and hollandaise which were on point. The Irish Benedict is a huge plate of excellent home made corned beef hash with caramelized onions. Seriously great. A side of biscuits and gravy was also wonderful and my wife, who had what she called the best waffle in Idaho, also ordered a side of bacon that, again, had the perfect cook. Second visit was an addictive BLT. She loves this place like I do. We haven't begun to explore the other options on their menu but can't wait to try more. I used to love this place for their clean, thoughtful approach--no seed oils, tallow instead of canola, and pork-free meats like corned beef. I even sponsored them by putting my company's logo on their tables. Sadly, they've changed. On my last visit, they said the grill options were only canola or pork lard, which we can't eat. They also serve tap water, not filtered, and if you order hot food to go, it comes in styrofoam that melts into the food--toxic and inedible. Service was poor on Monday the 23rd in the morning too. I'd happily pay more for clean options like tallow or butter, but until they return, I can't recommend this place anymore. Just ate at the tipsy chef cafe today for the 1st and last time. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere felt dated and cold.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered an omelet that looked like an overcooked crepe. The owners have just had their first baby, so Dad is looking a bit tired, but there bright and early to ensure the boat runs smoothly and the food is up To the standard of Chef Julie, who's home with their new addition. As always everything was great. I had the Avocado Hashbrowns and a Blueberry Pancake, yummm. The day before was another great dish and it just keeps getting better. We came here for the 2nd time now since moving to the area and every time we have enjoyed it!! This past Sunday was no exception...we stopped in for breakfast this time. I had the chicken fried steak and eggs and my wife had the Huevos Rancheros...both dishes were awesome and pre-warning the chicken fried steak can be shared by 2 people it is so big of a portion. The flavors were also great and while I got the country gravy on the side as a precaution, however this was so tasty and delicious. My wife also really enjoyed her food as well. She loved the simplicity but the flawless execution and flavors she absolutely loved!! Plus the service was outstanding and has been outstanding on each of the 2x we have been here. In addition the inside of this place is very well done. Simple but well done and love the vibe of this Meridian hidden gem. I hope anyone traveling through or local gives this place a try. read more

My mothers review was deleted because it was rated 1 star. The point of reviews is for people to share their experience. I'm not going to write paragraphs as to our experience but here is your bullets. 1. Waiting 20 mins for coffee. The waitress came to refill our coffee and then realized she never brought it. 2. Waited 30-45 mins for food- it was not packed. 3. Crapes come cold- this needs to be disclosed or written on the menu. Cold crapes have a more rubber texture BTW, causing this to be hard to cut with a KNIFE. Two children both 12+ hated the crapes... 4. Omelette had the cheese paper cooked in the food. They did comp it 50%, but really.... Paper in the food. 5. No refills on any drinks not even the coffee. After my research on the reviews post visit, seems this is a hit or miss place. It was a wise move adding the wiggly chef blowup out in front of the Tipsy Chef, as this drew my attention to this hidden gem. The breakfast was delicious and has a homemade vibe to it. They use tallow, butter and lard, no margarine here folks! The waitstaff are friendly and efficient. I love this unexpected little gem of a place! The only reason I give it 4 stars is because the atmosphere is not as cozy as I normally appreciate. However, it is an adorable throwback to a 50's diner and the food is 5 Gold stars I was so surprised when my avocado toast showed up with edible flowers! Walked in 1 hr before closing, wasn't busy. One server said she would be with me in a minute, second server asked how many. I told her two, she turned looked at a clean empty table that's seats two, looked at me and said she can't seat me because they are closing in 20 mins. Ralph Waldo Emerson may have been right when he wrote: "A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds..." But consistency in quality cooking is key to top rated eatery experiences. Alas, in the last two breakfast meals here it seems there may have been a different cook in the kitchen. Hash browns were greasy. Eggs undercooked for me where other times always perfect to meet my request. And on both of the last visits the music at breakfast hour was blaring away on a not so great to listen station until, at the last one, a group of guys asked to have it turned down. I felt uncomfortable asking so as not to be thought a 'fuddy - duddy' but some of them were older than me (I think) and they spoke right up. When I thanked them on my way out for being bold to go where I was not they laughed and said they are regulars so have clout. :-) My hubby and I still enjoy this eatery but maybe not with the five star referral confidence as before or make the relatively longish drive from our front door to theirs. read more

We thought this was a nice place for breakfast. The waitress was great and we liked the atmosphere. The best thing we had were the hashbrowns! Really good! The eggs Benedict was good, eggs cooked perfectly. My husband got the French toast for Super Bowl Sunday but unfortunately he said it was a little burnt and could taste the oil it was fried in. He ate the middle out of each piece of toast but skipped the dark edges. He usually loves French toast but he wasn't fond of it. read more

The chicken fried steak was great, the avocado hashbrown toast, not so much. I liked the idea of the hashbrown toast more than the actual thing. The middle was mushy and soggy. Maybe using sliced avocado would have fixed this issue. Pretty steep price tag for what we got, but the service was friendly and the restaurant was cute. read more

We are from out of state so we like to look places up on Yelp to try new things. Upon arriving we were seated promptly. The menu looked like it had some great options - I chose the chilaquiles (green) and my 3 kids all chose crepes (strawberry and strawberry+nutela). My food was ok, it did not taste like authentic chilaquiles (seemed like the chips were from a bag and not homemade). The kids were very disappointed in the crepes as there was nothing inside of them - maybe I missed that part in the menu but my son said "Mom is tastes like a tortilla with chocolate syrup". Nobody at our table finished their plate. I gave it 3-stars because our server was very attentive however I wouldn't go back. read more

This is a newer restaurant having taken over from one that was in business for 50 years, I think. Here's the thing... these are the BEST scrambled eggs I've ever had! I need them well done, no goo or I can't eat them. Usually they come hard as rocks, burned from other restaurants. These eggs were cooked PERFECTLY! We went early on a Sunday morning so it wasn't super crowded. The ambience is fun and all of the waitstaff were super friendly. It was clean. We had a breakfast mimosa that was delicious.
