The service was underwhelming, we went there before a game and I ordered chicken wings appetizer and my whole family got their food. The waiter asked if we got everything and I said no i ordered hot chicken wings and she said ok and proceeds to go and give more chicken wings to people who had walked in 20-30 minutes after us. I came here with my guy friends. One had a pork burger that he really adored and the other a bison burger that he also liked. I looked at the Moo-less burger menu category and decided to try the Vegetarian burger with cheese. (The cheese was 2$ extra.) The pea, rice and bean patty sounded healthy and interesting but when I bit into my burger I was disappointed. I didn't see any traces of peas, rice or bean in the patty. In fact it tasted like a soy patty at a fast food place. My friend's French fries were very lightly salted. They were okay. We were the only customers for an hour or so and the waitress didn't ask if we wanted to refill our drinks. read more

Came here for Burger Week last month. The Tipsy Cow had the "Village Drunk" burger, which consisted of a fresh 6oz beef chuck patty, torque IPA & chorizo chili, Bothwell gouda cheese, bourbon apple sour cream, lettuce, tomato, and a toasted pretzel bun. I can tell the kitchen was making these burgers en masse, as it seemed people who arrived 15 minutes before and 15 minutes after me all got their orders at the same time. As for the burger itself it was...okay. While the ingredients seemed really good and would be great on a burger, the patty was too dry and the chili overpowered the taste by quite a bit. Loved the bun, sour cream, and the cheese though. Service was really slow and disorganized. It may be due to higher than usual demand from burger week, but they were seriously understaffed. It was complicated with the fact there wasn't really a convenient place to stand for those waiting for a table. My first impressions of Tipsy Cow certainly weren't high. Maybe a non-special event day would change my opinion of this place? read more

We were looking for somewhere to have drinks after work and with the limited options Downtown (besides typical chains) that are open late, we learned that this new place just opened up. We had been hearing about it on Facebook and decided to stop in. This establishment was previously vacant after several failed restaurants closed up shop. The place has been nicely renovated and we love the long bar you can sit at when you walk into the long, narrow space. There's a lot of table seating in the back area if a bar top isn't your style. While we took a look at the menu and only tried one appetizer, our review is mainly for drinks, the atmosphere and service. The drink menu is extensive and they have a really good selection of wines and cocktails. We would definitely recommend dropping in after work or for a late night drink. No street parking out front, but the location is very accessible. The bus stops right outside which is great if you're looking to have a few drinks and not have to worry about driving. We had a great experience here and will definitely be back. The owner told us that next week is 'Burger Week' and that once that wraps up, there will be a more extensive food menu. read more

Early days for this attempt at a gastropub, is it a restaurant? TV and a fine dining type atmosphere make for a confusing situation. If it wants to be a gastropub then The beer selection could be improved. If it wants to be a restaurant then i don't know what it needs, maybe close on Mondays? I'm going to start this off with a simple suggestion: DO NOT COME HERE. The moment we arrived, there was a line of customers who were all waiting to be seated. Although the busy turnout was deceivingly impressive, there were only 2 employees that were confused and useless. One of the waitresses eventually seated us although it seemed more like a tactic to get us out of the way. Once seated, we were completely ignored with no menu or water. My boyfriend eventually started a timer to count how long it would take for a waitress to acknowledge us. After the 10 minute mark, I had to physically get out of my seat and speak to a waitress to tell her that we needed water and menus. With haste, she put menus on our table and left, again without any acknowledgement. After another 5 minutes, I got up again and told the waitress I wanted a cocktail. She apologized for the wait and said she would serve us right away. At about roughly 20 minutes, the waitress not only refused to bring my cocktail, but she still did not come ask us what we wanted. We eventually got impatient and decided to leave. On our way out, the same lady that seated us ironically asked us "No one served you?". Really tasty food, but... For a small-ish place I have no idea why the various food menus (lunch, event, etc) vary so much. I was in town for a Jets game and really had my eyes on the Signature burger (only listed on dinner menu). With lunch menu (Signature not available) ending at 3p, and Event menu supposedly starting two hours before said event (so starting at 5p in this case), I timed my trip to specifically go around 3:30p hoping to get the regular dinner menu and this delectable-sounding Signature burger. Got there and received the Event menu. Figured I would ask since the place wasn't busy (less than 5 patrons) and the bartender seemed nice. She said I could get it, but I could hear the chef yelling at her in the back about it? Not sure the issue as there isn't anything super complicated on this burger. Later on, the chef came out to take a smoke break and seemed like a nasty person in general. Super awkward. The bartender did not want to be there it seemed, but she was really nice and did a great job. Anyway, the burger was awesome. The poutine side was also on point --- seasoned fries really sent it over the top. Not sure when/if I'll ever be back in Winnipeg but I doubt I'd return here. I've been here twice in the last week. Overall, I was impressed with the quality of the food and the speed and friendliness of the staff. First visit: I tried the Tasty Bacon Cheeseburger, with a side of poutine. The burger itself was very flavourful, the bacon was thick and I could actually taste it (not true of all burger places). I loved the BBQ sauce and surprisingly, the bun was a highlight. It was the perfect size to hold everything in and was light, without getting soggy. Overall, a well-made and tasty burger that lives up to its name. For $11 with fries, it's a very reasonable lunch. The side poutine was made with crisp fries that handled the gravy well and had a generous amount of cheese curds throughout, rather than just being sprinkled on top like many places do. The only negative of the visit was that there was no local draft beer left, save for the last half glass that was on the house as an apology (and much appreciated). Given they were only open for 3 weeks at this point, I'll take it as a sign that they're selling well. :) Second visit: I had to go back to try the Burger Week entry and was not disappointed. Again, a tasty beef patty, with a generous amount of stringy cheese and a pile of pickled vegetables on top. Despite being pickled, the veggies actually had a fairly sweet flavour which balanced well with the savoury/salt flavour of the beef and the garlic aioli. Paired with a side of crispy fries and a beer, I had a very fulfilling meal for $15. I'm looking forward to making this a regular spot to grab a burger and beer. Well done! read more

Braved the -26 weather to walk the 2 blocks for a pre-New Year's lunch with a friend. I was really impressed with: the immediate attention from our waiter (which remained attentive but never obtrusive), the speed in receiving our wine, the meat to bun ratio of my classic burger, the yummy crunchy fries, the delicious gluten-free bun (that they did not charge extra for!), the overall atmosphere and the fair pricing. Having seen so many restaurants in this locale fail I wish them all the best and hope that they will continue to feed me fabulous food. I was also pleasantly surprised that for a fairly small locale, it was not noisy and it was easy to carry on a conversation. We'll be back! read more
