I wish I had stayed here for the entire 10 days I was in Garmisch. The breakfast is outstanding and the service is equally as outstanding. I highly recommend this hotel. They even helped me book my ticket to Zugspitz! I have zero complaints. Excellent hotel in a perfect location.

The staff are extremely helpful and prompt and if you need any help they are always wiling to help. Like many hotels in Germany don't expect air conditioning as this is not common. In the summer months leave your windows open and hope for the best.

They did make fresh scrambled eggs upon request, but I wished there were more savory items. The chopped fruit cups contained a large variety of fruit -- those were my favorite. The staff was very sweet and helpful. There were only a few of them, but they cross-covered everything from reception to cooking to cleaning. They gave us a map of town and marked all the interesting spots to get us oriented. The hospitality was refreshing and made us feel welcomed in this cute little town.

I made reservations via email in German before I left - we only wanted to stay 1 night, so we were unable to guarantee between a double room & an apartment, but the price difference was pretty minimal. When we arrived, the daughter who runs the hotel was gone but her mother was around. She speaks some English...enough to do a transaction if necessary, but she noticed that I could speak enough German to get along so we stuck with that. Surprisingly she thought I was French! Anyways, she showed us to our room and then went to find our room key. A few minutes later, she was back with the key and a small English map of Mittenwald. She quickly gave us the 2 minute tour recommendation and some restaurant options for dinner and then left us to explore. We ended up with an apartment, the Schmalzer. It has a double bed, a futon, a shower/WC and a small kitchen (which we did not use since it was only 1 night). It would comfortably sleep four and was very clean! But the best part of the room was the VIEW! The balcony had two chairs and a tiny table, and if I didn't already know how wonderful the rest of Mittenwald was, I probably would have spent the rest of our trip out on that balcony. There's a gorgeous view of the Karwendel and the creek from this 2nd story apartment. A quick 5-10 minute walk into the historic center makes the Edlhuber very convenient for those wanting to explore Mittenwald. After a good night's sleep, we woke up to a very nice breakfast and met the daughter. We sneaked out pretty early as we had a long day planned, but I would have loved to spend the morning on that balcony. 70 euros for the apartment - though if a double room would have been available, it would have been only 64 euros.

It was easily a four-star hotel by American standards. The room that my sister and I stayed in was also very large by American standards, and from what I understand about European hotel rooms, that's saying something. The bed was the most comfortable that I have ever slept in - save for one in Gent, Belgium. One sleep at this place, and I have tried to recreate ever since. (Open up the window to allow a cool evening breeze to waft in; snuggle up in a duvet-covered down comforter. Such a thing I'll never forget!) The only reason it doesn't get the extra star is because I found a huge hair ball in my towels one day. We were assigned room 8 and then given keys on a keyring. One key was for our room door and the other was for the main door of the facility. Our room was on floor 3. The room seemed a bit dated, but clean. The Doppelbett was pretty comfortable. There was a good amount of outlets in the room that I got to use. I wasn't too into the style of the Badezimmer, but it was efficient. The water pressure was good. On 17.09.2024, we had Frühstück at Gasträume, which was on floor 1 near the entrance. Our table was 8 Reserviert for us. It felt cozy inside there for sure. It was a buffet that was self-service. On my first trip up, I got an Orangen, a Filterkaffee, scrambled eggs, and bacon. The Orangen was alright. The Filterkaffee was horrible. Even sugar didn't help the taste. The scrambled eggs and bacon were both bland. On my second trip up, I got a pretzel. It was rather hard. I didn't enjoy it. I think Frühstück should have been included with my stay, especially due to the low quality. I was displeased by it and felt ripped off. There were Toiletten below floor 1. They were clean and seemed to be kept up with nicely. Checking out was fast. There weren't any issues. The service throughout my stay here was alright, but nothing to brag about. The had, buffet style: a wide variety of fresh breads (I had croissants) and locally made cheeses. Freshly cut veggies, cucumber, red and green peppers, fruit, yogurt, muesli, smoked salmon, bacon, sausage and eggs (scrambled or soft boiled). Let's not leave out the fantastic coffee, with wonderful cream, juices and tea selection.

The staff knew our names when we walked in (off-season and pushing 10pm) and went right into playful banter. The beer from the vending machine was cold & the glasses were clean.
