The owner gave us a verbal quote of $1200 NTE $1500. Seemed a little high (we moved from Southern California where everything it seems, is higher priced than here) but decided we could live with $1200. Imagine our surprise when we received an invoice 40% higher than the NTE quote. We were here watching the installers the entire time, they were not working the number of hours they attempted to bill for. My husband and I cleaned up all the mess from the install ( insulation and drywall dust all over our floors, carpets and furniture ((no drop cloths used)). We asked the owner a number of times about programming the RTI remote and he assured us it would be easy just like our installation. I asked our installer from SoCal to email our program to the owner, which he did. It still took a number of calls to RTI support and our SoCal installer to finally program the remote. In fairness, the owner did remove a little more than $700 from his invoice. He claimed the $1200 bid was for labor only. We assumed his quote included labor, speakers, wire and misc ( everything we spoke about for our "straight forward, simple install" as he called it. Live and learn, get everything in writing and ask for references and check all references thoroughly! I think what bothered us most was the constant excuses and blame assigning that went on. Everyone on the team is friendly, knowledgeable, and true experts in home automation. They created an unbelievable theater system for us and made sure every component works together flawlessly. Eric and his team took the time to truly understand what we wanted and designed a system that is both incredibly intuitive and reliable. The installation was clean and organized, and they walked us through everything until we felt completely confident using it. Don't bother contacting them if you live in Columbia. I received their information from a trusted…read moresource and wanted to have them do work for my business. When I called Gene (the owner I presume) the first time, he told me that he would try to come on one particular day if he had time being his business is in Jefferson City and I live in Columbia, he only comes up a few times a week. It didn't happen on that day and for me it was no problem because I knew there was a chance he might not come. The lame part is, I had to be the one to follow up with a phone call a few days later to see about scheduling a new day. We set a meeting day for the following week, and he NEVER showed up. NEVER even called. I called him the following day to try and reschedule thinking that he just got too busy. I had to leave him a voice message and he has NEVER returned my call, that was 1 week ago to the day I wrote this review. I would STRONGLY recommend you contact Nate's Computer Repair for Columbia Mo work. They are getting more involved with that doing Audio/Video work (in addition to computer repair, networking and more) and I have given them the contract to do the video installation that I had wanted Smart Solutions to do. Don't take your computer here!!! I was referred by a good friend of their professor who is very…read moregood friend of mine. These guys have no idea what they are doing and neither does the professor who trained them. My hard drive crashed and they replaced it. They offered to put in USED parts I requested NEW parts only. Then it crashed when I got it back again after I told them it was not working. Then they accused me of breaking it again. After seven months of non stop bull crap, including removing three of the four graphic cards in my computer to get it to work. They ended up taking it to the professor and learned that it was the power source that was what caused the original hard drive failure. I felt I had no choice but to report them. They called me a liar then my son went down and talked to them and they called him a liar. Eventually, they agreed to fix it. But this was after they had damaged so bad nobody would work on it. They replaced the hard driver again and again I told them I did not need to everything recovered from the original hard drive because everything is backed up on my external hard drive. When they replaced the second hard drive they took it upon themselves to pull off everything off the first hard drive. I mean everything including every assignment I turned in three years prior when I purchased the computer while working on my second Masters degree. In addition half the programs were installed in google chrome, which had never been on my computer and half were in windows explorer. When they asked me if I wanted that option I told them no. I requested my computer to be set with windows explorer since that is what it came with. They kept asking me for original start up discs and I told them it didn't have any. Eventually, the admitted they had to request the assistance of their professor because my $8,000.00 specialty computer was too high tech for them. They even went and located a computer like mine to see how to fix mine. I finally had to take my original box and all accessories in to show them. I took in all my software. They still complained that I had to be damaging the computer. I went to the office and pulled up when ever change had been done on that computer. I showed them the dates and times. They had to admit the computer was in their possession at the time. I had to report them to the attorney generals office as well as the better business bureau. Than the owner finally called me said he would work on the computer personally. I got it back two weeks later with the comment not to ever bring my computer back because I can not be pleased. However, they had to reinstall the removed graphic cards, replace the hard drive and the power supply and reinstall the software. I than got it back and again it does not work. In addition it still only did about one fourth of what it was able to do in the past. After looking over the computer myself and discussing it with a different computer expert the after I had to purchase a new computer, we figured out the computer was running on windows 7.0, windows 7.1, windows 7.3 and windows vista. All Microsoft windows had to be removed and a $9.00 disk from Microsoft fixed the problem. Since I purchased a new computer, paid over $600.00 for them to destroy my computer its clear these guys and their professor who came down and assisted them in repairing my computer are clueless.
