Titlow Lodge - Venues & Event Spaces Near Me - Tacoma, Washington

I attended a wedding at Titlow Lodge this last Saturday. While the wedding was amazing, and yes, the venue is beautiful, the lady from Tacoma Metro Parks who was there was atrocious. As a guest, I've never been made to feel so unwelcomed by a venue. To give a little background, the wedding was scheduled to take place at the venue from 4:30 to 8pm. This woman came out every ~20 minutes, in her Metro Parks cardigan, after the ceremony took place to stand in the doorway and glare at everyone, then turn around and stalk off. I had just finished having a slice of the wedding cake when the lady came out, went into the area where the food was still set up, and started to move around all the dishes the guests had brought. She'd glare out at the hall where everyone was sitting, eying every table, hands on her hips. She was so unsettling that a majority of the guests started to leave. It was 6:30, I had only danced to one full song and was half way through dancing a 2nd time when the Tacoma Metro Parks woman, who was coming out far more frequently at this point, had one of the parents of the couple come out and ask who had brought what so she could clean up. This was at 6:30, and the reception wasn't supposed to end until 8pm, (I learned later that they had the lodge til 9pm so they could do cleanup AFTER the reception ended at 8) but the Tacoma Metro Parks lady was dead set on putting a damper on the festivities! I had to stop dancing to go over and point out my dish because she wouldn't let up. I tried to dance again, but the Parks woman had the parents go around and take all the table cloths off the table. What few guests she hadn't chased away started to leave. A handful of us tried to stick around until 8. I found out later from the bride's maid that the Tacoma Metro Parks woman was constantly interrupting the photo shoot and set up before the wedding even began. While the lodge and grounds are lovely, I cannot, at this time, recommend this venue. If you do book it, I would suggest being very sure that you make it clear you want the venue representative to not be present. read more

I had my wedding and reception here in August 2012. Titlow Lodge is in a wonderful location, surrounded by a park and very close to the waterfront. It's also a beautiful building, hardwood floors and dark wood accents in the main room as well as a great wrap around deck that overlooks the park. The main room holds around 100 to 150 people, depending on how you do your seating. The only complaint I would have is in regards to decorating, as their rules are very strict regarding hanging things on the wall. But that said, it is a beautiful building- so not much in terms of decor is needed! read more

Such a beautiful place with wonderful surroundings! We had our wedding and reception here and I couldn't imagine doing anything different. They are very reasonably priced and don't have any crazy rules or restrictions. Everytime we went in to check decorations or get measurements they were very helpful! The rustic feel of the place and the natural look made it to where we barely even needed alot of decor, it did that on its own! And the man we had from the metro parks was very nice and cooperative. We had about 100 guests and all fit perfectly. It even rained and we could still stand outside on the deck covered, it gets hot in there! (Mostly cause there was a serious dance party going on!) My wedding day was perfect and titlow was a major part in that! read more

We held a Celebration of Life at Titlow Lodge yesterday and I have nothing but positive things to say. The fact that they have chairs, tables, and a kitchen was a huge plus! There is no AC and I got nervous as it was supposed to reach 90, but you do get a good cross breeze from the water. We did bring a few fans just to be safe though and they did come in handy. All communication with the Tacoma Parks staff was nothing short of impressive. I had read an old Yelp review the day before my event about the on-site staff person at someone else's event was not nice. I got nervous, but clearly, the staff person that we had on-site, Nancy, was NOT the person mentioned in the old review. Nancy was incredibly sweet, genuine, HELPFUL, and kind. She insisted on providing hands for set up and take down no matter how much I discouraged her. My only regret is not finding this venue for my wedding 5 years ago! It's a great spot. read more

I had my wedding reception here the summer of 2015, from 4pm to 9 pm. Just getting the paperwork into them is a headache. They are very disorganized, never know what is going on, and fail to return any phone calls or emails. I was promised a 10% discount for touring the facility prior to booking, which they later did not apply because "they haven't done that in years". They don't allow any time to set up, so you must pay the hourly rate for set up and tear down. When four o'clock rolled around... the rental attendant was no where to be found. I called all the numbers they provided me and no one answered. Finally, through personal connections we were able to have someone come down... an hour late into my wedding reception. They said they messed up on the scheduling even though i have several copies of a signed contract with the correct time, I never once got an apology. My mom dealt with getting our refund while we were on our honeymoon. They caused a lot of unneeded stress. My advice: this place is not worth all the trouble. They really need to get better management and customer service skills read more
