They then told me to walk to the ATM that's quite far away, when my friends waited there for me. After not coming back for ten minutes, my friends insisted that they try a Visa card. They finally agreed and charged us extra to do that. So obviously they knew visa worked, but decided the inconvenience to their guests is worth the tax evasion.
