My friend jumped on the train in Anaheim and I jumped on in Laguna Niguel. It's such a nice ride to Oceanside. Not dealing with traffic from Orange County to Oceanside is so great plus it's only $10 round trip. Ok anyway, we got off the train and it's a few minute walk to Toasted. We joined the waitlist from Yelp once the train was pulling in and when we arrived, we were 2nd in line. We got seated on the patio almost immediately. First time here for us. I do not understand the hype. We waited 45 minutes (watched our eventual table sit dirty for 20 minutes), which we figured was because it's so good and they're so busy. I think this is a case of good social media marketing. Each of us ordered something different- CA Eggs Benedict (2 different ways), smoked salmon, and short rib benny. All of us said meh to what we ordered. My short rib benny was completely cold. I sent it back and it tasted like they just did was microwave it. The service was fine. Caesar Salad with Chicken (4/5) Lobster Toast (3/5) -- Avocado mashed on sourdough toast, topped with lobster, corn, bacon, and truffle oil. Tasty but the toast was too hard even for a steak knife. We went back at 8 am for the second day of our trip that's how good it was. The lobster Benedict was amazing, perfectly cooked eggs, savory delicious potato puffs. I was incredibly impressed by the payment system and it's perfect with a large group. You scan the QR code on the receipt with your phone and you can pay what items are yours. We had great vibes lounging here and despite the heavy rains, we were treated very well by our server Polo. Bottomless mimosas for $25 is definitely worth it compared to buying one drink each. Let me tell you, they are GENEROUS with the refills of champagne. Polo did his rounds often enough to make sure you never completely finish your glass LOL! We took awhile to order due to how big of a group we were, and drinking as you wait on an empty stomach will definitely get you. Food was also a wait but the food turned up delicious. So, I've been to the toasted in del Mar. And love it, so I wanted to check out the one in oceanside since I'm local. It looks small from the outside, but it's huge on the inside! I love the fact that you can see the chefs in the kitchen!!! Saul was our server. My friend and I ordered the latte and were disappointed. It was just warm (not hot like expected) and lost its coffee flavor amongst the milk. Two of us got the egg purgatory. I heard great things about the A-B-C Hash (Shoutout to our friend Audrey the Yelp CM who recommended this dish) so I had to try it! I ordered it with a side of rosemary sourdough and oof, it was an other-worldly experience. The avocado was perfect, I typically don't eat avo but this place changed my mind. Everything from the potatoes, meat, and eggs was fresh and premium quality. We tried a flight of mimosas (pear, lavender, etc.) and they had a good amount of alcohol. The flight glasses were mini-size, so we got some extra soft drinks just in case. Service was a little wonky, we didn't have too many check-ins from our waitress. Our drinks didn't get refilled regularly, that was a little troubling. We just got a lazy vibe from some of the staff. Thankfully, this didn't ruin the experience, but we'd appreciate better service next time! I WILL give kudos to a gentleman from the staff who sent away a homeless dude who was about to start stuff. He tactfully handled the situation, and called security without causing a disruption for guests. The restaurant was trendy, but it never felt like it was trying too hard.
