What a mistake that was it was a disaster. We had gone on a family trip with the kids in tow and as we entered the parking area a couple came out saying don't bother, you'll have to wait 2 hours to eat! This should have told us everything but no like fools we still went in and sat down on one of the new tables with it's own TV (posh hey), only to be told to move as children can't sit at these tables (nice hey, the kid's are now wound up). Then we queued to place our food order, after waiting and hearing the manager (who was taking the order's) telling a bunch of collage kid's who were placing orders on a large table that they couldn't order separately and had to pay in one go (like they could afford to do that, they were ringing and checking there card balances)! When I eventually got served 30 Min's later I was told hang on your number is not on my list, go back to your table and you can order when I send someone over to say so, no sorry no explanation I was so shocked. My husband was all ready to go after we had finished our drinks when they came over and said you can order now, we said forget it. they explained there had been a power cut and they were busier then expected. We explained that that was not a good enough reason to be so rude and left. We have never gone back and never will! We drove to the swallow further down the road who had been gaining all the customers the Thrasher had lost, they said the line about the power cut was rubbish as they were on the same network and had no problems!

I…read morewas driving quite fast looking for a loo I missed the turning for McDonalds but noticed a yellow sign for the lorry park at Nacton (needs must) I pulled over and ran in. What a surprise the ladies loos clean and well stocked (no machine though). I had not noticed on the way in that a karaoke night was in full swing, I love karaoke and so walked to the stage the man who was running the show got me strait on I said I was in a hurry he let me sing two songs. I walked over to the bar and had a diet Pepsi about 1 hour later I txt my friends and told them of my find Joe said he had heard of the place but never been my friends joined me by 10pm. We stayed until midnight when the music finished. We talked a while with the karaoke man and his wife he told us the restaurant is open all night, we all had full English breakfasts and a large desert each cheese cake for me. We sat and talked until 4.30 in the big comfy chairs. So nice not to be thrown out as soon as the bar closes and have to wander to a burger van to extend the night! A fantastic place to go to or stop at after a night out as several bands seem to after gigging! 10 out of 10

The Bistro is an old, tastefull converted dock building that was one of the first in the renovation of the Ipswich dock area. The food is modern british with continental overtones. There is plenty of choice of both fish, meat and veggie dishes so there should be something to please most palettes. There is also an extensive wine list. My wife has a particular liking for their pint of shell-on prawns served with garlic mayo and thick, crusty brown bread - as a starter. The prices are not too expensive, but the food is very good and I think it represents good value. A word of warning - the one downside of the Bistro is that you have to book well in advance. This is even more true in summer when the yachties tend to be in town. Overall very nice place, good food - can be very romantic (if you are that way inclined) especially if you can get a sunset booking in summer.

Put it aside and for a bit seemed like the wait staff didn't want to deal. Eventually some poor chap approached me and asked if the plate sitting well beside me was ok to remove. I said yes and with a blank faced-look from him I was forced to say - not to my liking. Just got main small chicken breast stuffed. Not enough sauce and a bit dry. The Ufford Crown does reliably good food, with a slightly longer menu than the Ramsholt. They fairly recently refurbished it, so the decor is now very smart but with a great atmosphere. Very family friendly, we have been here for Sunday lunch many times (whole family plus dog) and for date night dinners. Always a friendly service; another great pub we are lucky to have in the near neighbourhood. It is usually pretty busy so booking ahead at weekends probably a good idea.

When we arrived, we were offered the choice and picked outside, its a very beautiful view from shady tables next to the river. We were excellently looked after and served by competent, friendly staff, and the food was great. A very memorable occasion which all the family and friends enjoyed! I would love to go back again for a quieter meal with my partner, it's a very lovely setting.

I visited the Restaurant about 3 weeks ago with my wife and child and have been singing its praises to my friends and family ever since. From the moment we walked in I felt comfortable and relaxed, in what was such a welcoming environment. I will gladly recommend the fish and chips if anyone is struggling to make their minds up, failing that order all of the deserts, and leave a stone heavier than when you walked in!
