Housed in a attractive modern building, (bright & airy, with lots of glass on the exterior), it opened only in 1986, and essentially comprises of a 290 seat raked auditorium. Through work and pastime I've been to a great number of theatres across Ireland & the UK and you learn to recognize excellent facilities when you see them, and this is a really lovely space. Considerable thought has gone into the layout, so that genuinely no audience member has a worse seat than another or restricted view, and the acoustics are superb. The theatre justifiably attracts the cream of professional touring theatre, Enniskillen being officially northern Ireland you get a number of English companies coming here, as well as Irish, and there's everything from contemporary dance through to ballet & live music as well. Legendary Irish pianist & songwriter Phil Coulter, (whose song Scorn not his Simplicity, as sung by either Luke Kelly or Sinéad O'Connor, is one of my favourites), had just been performing here the night before the group I was in was let loose upon the place! We were made to feel genuinely welcome by everyone from the technician to the box office staff, (I had a particularly interesting conversation with the 'techie' about poteen)! Anyone whose toured around lots of theatres, knows the importance of a warm welcome, and this was a real hospitable Irish welcome here in Enniskillen. Good memories for me at The Ardhowen.

We had children ages 6-15 and each one thought it was fascinating, the adults, too. It went on a bit too long for me- I was so surprised how many stops there were on the tour- and I ran out of stream! So come well-rested and prepared with good walking shoes and an umbrella, if needed. Cute gift shop. Very nice café. Loved it! Highly

It's been so long since we were here last that we'd forgotten almost all of it. Maybe it's just a…read moreseries of senior moments but I'll tell you what it's superb and a great way to spend 3 or more hours. There's no down side to this place. This is a superb living park where you walk through 18th & 19th century thatched cottages, a blacksmiths forge, a school house, a Roman Catholic Church, a Meeting House, a bank, general stores, barns, log cabins, you'll board a ship (to go from Ireland to America) meet the captain and you'll meet other delightful costumed characters who demonstrate traditional crafts, tell real stories. They are very likely to share good food with you. We had pumpkin pie, a molasses based shoo fly pie, apple pie, fruit cake and other goodies. Many of the buildings were dismantled from their original places in Ireland & America and re-built here. The influential Mellon family feature (banking, oil, steel and shares in HJ Heinz & General Motors) as does the Campbell family. Both families are originally from the area so further adding to the authenticity of the park. There are 44 separate outdoor places to go visit in addition to the exhibitions inside and notably they have a very good Titanic exhibition. So a dry day is essential or at least a dry half day. There's also a very good cafe with tasty food rather than the rubbish a lot of places serve up these days. In fact if I was close by I'd go here to eat without going into the folk park.

There are life-size mannequins dressed as Beefeaters/other 17th century military uniforms. This has a shop and special exhibitions. This overlooks Lough Erne. We went here because my instructor said she was related to the Maguires who built the castle.

I've been to Enniskillen dozens of times (it's my mum's hometown) but had not actually, as far as I…read moreremember, ever gone into the castle. The famous front, called the Watergate, dates from the early 1600s. The county museum was closed for refurbishment when we went but there was a small display on the fascinating Maguire clan, who ruled the area for about 300 years. Also open was the excellent Inniskillings Museum, which has a detailed, interesting and often moving amount of the eponymous regiments (in one of which my father did his national service in the early 1950s!). Outside there are some military vehicles in display, nicely positioned in the barracks. I'd appreciate the museum asking families to keep children under control, because their incessant yelling (and these kids were approx 11-12 years old) really ruined a lot the experience/ability to read. Also appreciated would be some kind of disabled access, my dad struggled with the 2 flights of stairs. Very much worth a visit on any trip to Enniskillen.

As of writing this review the current adult ticket price is £6 or £5 with a student card. It's also cheaper to book ahead on their website which I recommend highly when going to a new release. As to be expected, the snacks in this cinema, like any other are over priced. However their popcorn is generally quite nice so it's not all bad. As far as I'm aware it's still £6.00 for a "large combo" which gets you 2 medium drinks and a large popcorn.

Good cinema, but they have really changed over the last year. In a usual cinema there are seats…read morewhich are reserved for those that pay a couple more pounds, but now that reserve everything except the first 7 rows forcing you to sit in the front. This is done without any mention from the staff before buying a ticket. In a big release such as suicide squad you'd think coming early would get you a good seat, not anymore. The seats quality is pretty good, but because they are made f leather and the heat of the room becomes quite high when the cinema fills up they become very uncomfortable making it hard to enjoy the movie. If you come to enjoy a movie, be ready to pay much higher for their "VIP" seats. If the cinema was emptier I could see it being quite enjoyable. But I am quite the disappointed customer this time. I would recommend going to the Craigavon iMax instead.
