Went in with high expectations given the Michelin recognition, and unfortunately left underwhelmed…read more We ordered the president shrimp, crispy beef, duck spring rolls, emperor prawns, and fried rice -- and across the board, the execution felt off. Nearly everything was fried, and the dishes mostly differentiated themselves by sauce alone rather than technique. The sauces themselves tasted surprisingly flat, almost cafeteria-grade, which isn't what I'd expect at this level.
To be fair, it's possible we caught them on an off night -- every kitchen has one. And credit where it's due: the service was attentive and the ambience was lovely, which kept the evening from being a total loss. But at these prices, I'd expect the food itself to be the highlight, not just the room and the staff.
This was our first time feeling let down at a Michelin-listed restaurant. We may give it another shot down the line to see if it was a fluke, but for now, hard to recommend based on this visit.
