We have been regular customers at Tokyoto in Maastricht for a long time, always enjoying the food and service. However, after our most recent experience, we will not be returning. On this occasion, I called at 5:00 PM to reserve a table for four and was told there was no availability before 8:00 PM. An hour later,my friend called from a different number, requesting a table for five, and was told we could be accommodated at 6:30 PM, provided we finished by 8:30 PM. We accepted, and her name was noted down for the reservation. When I arrived along side 2 of my friends at the restaurant at 6:30 PM, the staff at the entrance could not find our reservation. The man who had taken my booking over the phone, an older gentleman behind the counter (allegedly the owner) came over and immediately dismissed our claim, insisting that no such reservation had been made. When we attempted to show him the call on the phone as proof, he refused to look and rudely waved his hand, calling us liars in front of a fully seated restaurant. (Saying I have no time for Liars waving his hand and asking his employee to get rid of us) We were stunned. After a moment, our other friends arrived, and we went back inside to clarify the situation. Suddenly, his attitude shifted when he realized we were indeed a party of five. Without any acknowledgment of his previous behavior, he simply stated that he had not seen all of us and then offered us a table. By then, the damage had been done, he had humiliated us publicly, all because of his own mistake. While he did eventually offer a half-hearted apology, it felt forced and insincere. When we expressed how unacceptable it was to accuse loyal customers of lying, his response was dismissive: "I apologized. If you don't want to stay, you can leave." The only reason we remained was that we had invited friends and did not want to disrupt the evening further. However, this experience has left a lasting negative impression. Being falsely accused of lying, treated with blatant disrespect, and then given an insincere apology is not something any paying customer should tolerate. We have always enjoyed Tokyoto in Maastricht, but after this incident, we will no longer be returning. This is not how loyal customers (or any one for that matter) should be treated, and no amount of good food can make up for such appalling service. read more

If you actually enjoy sushi, avoid this place completely, the rolls were extremely dissapointing. Me and my girlfriend came to this place on the recommendation of friends for all you can eat sushi. In my experience, this is one of the first sushi places I have been to that completely compromises quality for the sake of the all you can eat dining style. Not to mention the laundry list of conditions that accompanied the all you can eat meal! Some of the rolls were okay (the one with crab and salmon roe is the only one that currently comes to mind), but I still wholeheartedly believe this place should be avoided if you actually enjoy quality sushi. In addition, the service was completely deplorable. At one point, we waited roughly 45 minutes sitting at our table ready to order another round of food with the staff blatantly ignoring every attempt to get their attention. I am not exaggerating when I say the staff would briskly walk past us and intentionally avoid eye contact. Normally, this type of behaviour is something I can tolerate, but it was just us and two other couples in the restaurant at the time, the staff effectively outnumbered the customers. Seriously cannot stress this enough. There are good sushi places in Maastricht but this is certainly not one of them. read more

We went here on a Sunday morning. Looking for a place to lunch we saw this sushi restaurant advertising a bento lunch box. We couldn't resist and entered the restaurant around 11.40. There was no one to be found. We heard some noise upstairs and shouted 'Hello!' a couple times, but no one answered. We decided to take a stroll and return around 12.00 to see if the personnel was back from being A.W.O.L. They were and gave us a seat. I must say that the guy serving us was quite rude and uninterested, while there was no one in the restaurant I thought it to be a little rude. If it's very busy, I can relate, but when there's no-one and it just opened? A bit rude. The sushi bento boxes we ordered were thankfully very good. The wasabi was of good quality, hot and tasty just as we like it to be. The sushi's were very delicious, so it was worth the rude service. The restaurant looked nice and we'd like to return some day to try out the evening menu. Hopefully, they will be a little nicer that time! read more

Do not go here! We went for lunch and food was under average. Some of the 'crunchy' sushi was seaweed filled with breadcrumbs and not good at all. The service was the worst I ever experienced! Unfriendly and unprofessional waiter. We could not order all five rounds of sushi as the lunch time had apparently ended. After asking if we could still finish the lunch menu the waiter started to intimidate us and indirectly refer to us as dumb. read more

A great Japanese inspired all you can eat restaurant. I've been here multiple times and will most likely come back for more haha. You are allowed to order 5 dishes per round and there are 5 rounds in total. Though I must say that I haven't seen anyone go past round 4. There are a lot of different dishes you can choose from, hot and cold ones. Unfortunately drinks aren't included in the price. If you like all you can eat restaurants, I'd recommend this one. read more

Great experience. .......except. ....I was eating with three men at my table and they eat faster than me! So the order five dishes per round (of five rounds) did me in before the third round of five plates even arrived! HOLY CROW!! Next time, I would only order three plates per round next time. Being able to pick whatever you wanted on the menu up to five plates was really fun! A great value too for only $22.50 euros.......if you like sushi people. ......it's a MUST TRY!! read more

In a city where sushi is somewhat hard to come by, I was actually very impressed with the meal I had at Tokyoto. I came here for all-you-can-eat sushi with a group of friends, and the service was quick and easy for ordering. I could not get enough of the mango sushi rolls, and for dessert, I highly recommend the matcha ice cream! Definitely give it a try if you're looking for a satisfying sushi sesh! read more

Food is excellent, shitty all you can eat system that feels like you are taking an exam and is very disorganized. Service is ok, staff don't really engage with you but quality of the food is fantastic. The grilled salmon, fried rice and mushrooms are on point. The mussels are also very good. Food is so-so, and has given me upset stomach and bowls the last three times I was there (it's happened to friends too). It's a shame.

Not a bad place to eat sushi, the prices are a bit high for what you get but the quality of the food is always very decent. However, last time i was there (my second time eating at their restaurant) i took a small break after the third round, ordering something of their desserts menu to see how their ice cream would be like. I sometimes do this when im craving for something sweet and continue to eat another round of normal food after that. However after i got my ice cream, my card did not return. I waited for about 20 minutes to see if it would maybe be a mistake, but after asking and employee why my card didnt return even though i wasnt finished ordering apparently they thought i was because i ordered an ice cream. I suppose this is a common mistake which i guess could happen to the best, but for some reason it took them another 20 minutes to bring me a new card which kinda bummed me out. So when it finally re-arrived i ordered some last single sushi pieces to end my meal and unfortunately it took them another 20-25 minutes to bring me my last order, and it wasnt even that crowded in the restaurant.
