I was there to play football and having played at a number of different sports facilities I have to say that these were right up there with the best. The have 6 floodlit 3G pitches that are available to hire. There are also two full size 4G floodlit pitches. They have rebranded the sports pitches 'V36' and they have obviously thought about the logistics of the centre as it now comes with a refurbished car park. Great facility all in all and relatively cheap to hire in comparison with other pitches.

Back when I was young, the Valley was pretty dark and everything was brown or cream, but now the lighting's a lot better and you don't really feel like this is a place where joy comes to die. The slide in the pool was the main attraction when I was growing up, and it remains to this day. Beyond that, there are squash courts, indoor football pitches and rooms for classes. There's also a gym upstairs, which my brother is a member of and loves. Municipal gyms are some of the cheapest going and I think they're the best option if you're thinking of joining a gym. The Valley is also the location for many a children's birthday party and they provide a bouncy castle, so it's pretty easy for parents to organise.

Turns out it doesn't really open UNTIL people get out of school which sucks. Hubs took son for 40 mins in toddler time and he took it like a champ when we told him it was time to leave. Sister and nephew met up with us, nephew is anaphylactic to nuts and allergic to eggs, so she's always hesitant about places that serve food. This place was very knowledgeable and helpful with their menu, even offered to scrub down a panini press for her to be sure. The pool is a no photograph pool, and while I get it, there were no signs in the stands to tell me such and the woman who came to take my head off was rude and hostile - there's a right way and a wrong way to handle people and she was wrong. I'm not an idiot, I only took pictures of my son and his father, but don't take my head off like I'm a child - plus? Put up a damn sign. Good facilities though, book online during busy times!

The staff have the traditional bored look on their faces as a 6 year old runs past them for the second time with a massive inflatable ring to go down the same water slide they have been in charge of for the last six months. Children absolutely adore it. I even adored it. Good fun. Now comes the negative. They have unisex changing rooms. The 'cubicles' are lined side by side and after a particularly difficult moment on holidays one year in a different unisex changing rooms whereby a mobile was being used inappropriately and resulted in a cheeky wee so and so nearly getting a kicking from our entire family. Needless to say I have never been a fan of unisex changing rooms and this is the biggest problem for Lagan Valley. There is no problem with separate changing rooms for men and women. Unisex changing rooms lead to too much running about trying to find one that is empty and too much chance of getting into an argument... All in all, if they sort out the changing rooms, then it will be fine. Until then, I probably won't be back.

It has been part of the Antrim skyline for as long as I can remember and it wouldn't really be he same without it. It is a rather ugly plastic building but the facilities it offers is excellent. For some reason, there are security gates at the entrance. The receptionists do open them if you want to use the public toilets but otherwise you will have to insert the card given to you for your session to open them. It is about a ten minute walk from the Masserene Golf Club, five minutes from Clotworthy and fifteen minutes from the Lough Shore via Deerpark Bridge. The close proximity to Antrim's main leisure and tourist destinations is good. I can't really find anything wrong with it - the only thing is that the bowling alley is quite small so everyone goes to the big one at Dundonald Ice Bowl if they want a serious game of bowling.

Antrim forum also has lots of other activities to take part in and all reasonably priced and it is much larger than you might expect from a relitivly small town leisure centre. There is also a soft play area which is ideal to take little ones too they love it and burn off lots of energy. Also easy to get to by bus or walking or car.

In addition to this, they have one large and one medium sized sports halls, a state of the art gym, sauna, and sunbed suiet, if you fancy frying yourself to get that, erm, golden glow. Just off the main hall they also have a lounge and cafeteria area, which serves a good range of food, although unfortunately nonw of it was terribly healthy, which was sometimes a bit of a temptation!

It has all the amenitites that you could expect - swimming pool, five-a-side pitches and squash courts etc. It also has a really good gym that is really well priced. If you're a student you can get unlimited access for only £20 a month over 3 months which is a much better deal than in the likes of Fitness First. There are better appointed and better staffed leisure centres in the world but I think the prices here are good and you could do an awful lot worse. It has a good car park and that you don't have to pay for and its right in the middle of town. So you don't have any real reason not to call in here to exercise a bit.

Firstly a note on the centre as a whole - with lots of attractive indoor facilities it's a fantastic place to take kids (I was with my nephews) and there's loads for them to do and for you to spend your money on. In my opinion the reception area could do with a revamp, no matter how good the facilities are it's your first impressions that count. Xtreme Bowling is like normal bowling but coupled with UV lights and loud top 40 chart music - these two added elements make it feel more like an under 18's disco. There are 20 lanes although I'd advise booking in advance as when we attended we got given the last lane. It cost's £19.50 for four people (family pass) and I'd say it's well worth the money! There's an in house DJ who comes around giving out spot prizes to kids which is a nice touch. If you're not too good at bowling or have young kids they will put the buffers up and provide you with a ramp so it really is suitable for all ages and abilities. My nephews seemed to enjoy it but they didn't once mention the UV lights which I thought would have been the major talking point. All in all it's a good complex and a nice twist on regular bowling.
