They also have some great rugs, leather sofas and fab knick nacks and table wear etc. A good service and the best price for that level of kit - especially if you are after more than one piece.

We recently went to Squint on Shoreditch High St to look for a piece of furniture for our bedroom…read more Squint is a stunning bespoke furniture shop which was started by Lisa Whatmough (a former Sculptor and Painter) at the beginning of 2005 in East London. The shop has a wonderful feeling when you walk in (not least because of Lisa's lovely little dog who pads around the studio!). There is a lot of vibrant and colourful fabric to look at and all have been cleverly worked into quality upholstering of beautiful pieces of fine antique furniture. Lisa told us that she had been collecting a mix of contemporary and vintage fabrics for many years before finding that she could use her designing skills to create a fusion of period furniture and fabrics to make one-off, bespoke pieces. The Squint range comprises items such as Victorian chaise longues, 60's style Egg chairs and all types of upholstered furniture (including bed settees and sofas) as well as mirrors and lighting. The furniture is unqiue and very individual. Well worth checking out Lisa's website or taking a trip to her shop to see her work. It's truly inspirational.

Situated on Shoreditch High Street recently re-located next door to Tesco Metro, huge glass front window showcasing all the amazing colours and furniture. Lisa Whatmough a former Sculptor and Painter formed the Squint business in 2005 aiming to utilise all the antique textiles she had been collecting. She has showcased her work in a range of magazines and newspapers. I just love this shop. You walk in and the colours and patterns and fabric just light up and you feel a sense of energy and colourfulness. I would love to have quilted Victorian chaise lounge in my front room!

I love looking at this shop, usually through the window because it is hardly ever open. The shop…read moremainly deals with antique furniture but has other bits and pieces as well. The best thing about the place is that everything is of a good quality, the worst thing is that it just isn't very cheap. I had my eye on a very simply designed old school chair, unfortunately it was about 70 pounds. I guess for people with a disposable income that wouldn't be a problem, at least your getting a quality product, albeit simply and small. The shop is located on Broadway Market and is well suited amongst all the other specialty shops on the strip. Even if you are just going to browse, you will have a nice time just being around all the lovely items in the shop. Stella herself is always around to give advice and point you in the right direction. It is nice to talk to her as she is obviously passionate about what she does. Opening hours are few and far between. Maybe if you head down for the Saturday market you can take the time to pop in to Stella Blunt.

It has become so popular with its cafes , boutiques and amazing selection of foods available on Saturdays. This shop of vintage objects and furniture has a cute handpicked selection of different pieces from lots of eras from art deco mirrors to 50's tables -but at a price. It amazes me that just down the road close to the tube and with easy public transport service available in Bethnal Green a 50s coffee table can barely demand £30.00 yet this area now has such a"cool" factor that the same table could show up in a place like Stella Blunts and command £200.00 !! There were alot of special pieces which granted have value - but a 50s wood irregular wood table for £280.00 is high - but incredible too if it is selling - it just shows how much this area has changed and is now perceived .

When moving hous this is pretty much my one stop shop, it's a cross between a pound store on one side and right next door is this discount store that sells things for slightly more but are still a bargain. Don't be afraid to haggle too, I always do, and no it never really works they just point at the price tag and shrug but at least I'm trying! I have bought a fabulous soft rug here for my new flat, not the prettiest thing in the world but it was well over 10ft square and only cost £60. Other stuff they do is washing lines, tea pots, random crap that you don't need but suddenly think you do when you're in there and more. Seriously, if you are in the area make sure you pop in. It's a great random store.

I flippin love a pound shop! All those rows and rows of coat hangers and candles for a under a…read morepound! Great when you move into a new place and need things to make the place look and smell pretty; candles, incense, cheap vases etc. I always bulk buy coat hangers from here as they're cheap and useful. Great for large quantities of batteries, washing powder and shampoo. Also good for fairy lights and Christmas decoration, a really useful resource for those with no money but will to decorate. I dare you to pop in and find nothing you want to buy...

The sort of designs they stock are certainly aesthetically appealing, and they show just how much passion they have for good, well designed furniture. This airy shop has a fashionable playful feel to it, and everything is laid out in an attractive manner, set in a way that allows you to see each piece of furniture properly. If you can't afford their furniture pieces, they sell a host of accessories which also make great, fun gifts.

Set in a spacious and interesting building set back from the rest of residential River Street, it's not somewhere you'd be likely to stumble across if you're not a local resident. The pieces they sell are a carefully curated selection of design history alongside new pieces by both established household names and up-and-coming new faces - including some fairly rare things by the likes of Naoto Fukasawa and Industrial Facility. They also occasionally host exhibitions, mainly to coincide with London Design Week in September. You might not end up buying much as this sort of stuff obviously doesn't come cheaply, but it's somewhere you really should visit - and keep an eye on the website for details of their biannual warehouse sales.

Advantages, you can design your own sofa on-line and choose colours etc…read more These sofas arrive on a huge shrink wrapped pallet, the frame is just basically pieces of mdf that lock together a bit like a kids play set Everything has to be assembled by yourself, problem with this being that the instructions are poor and difficult to follow. I'm an experienced craftsman and did not find it easy. These sofas are not cheap mainly due to the many good deals at other "proper" furniture companies such as SCS. This has to be one of the most expensive mistakes we have ever made, almost £560 for a pile of MDF, some lumps of foam and some material to cover it all. Any furniture in our house has to be hardwearing and this has failed miserably, after only 6 months nearly all the back cushions have lost their shape and the base cushions are all lumpy. We have now cut our losses and awaiting delivery of a properly manufactured sofa from SCS.

I've previously hada sofa bed - it has lasted well, and the price was good and delivery all went…read morewell. This time I wanted to add a 2 seater and stool. On the day of delivery I enlisted 2 others to be at home to help with lifting nad assembly - that's a lot of people's time for a no-show. I called Nabru three times just before closing and either got no-one avaialable or we'll get back to you (they didn't). I called the next morning and was told it would definitely be with me that morning (which was going to be much more dificult without the extra help, but at least something) At 1 in the afternoon I called again, then again, then again - each time there was no one available (apparently reception is unable to put calls through to anyone else and has no information, but they understand my situation). Every time I was told someone would call me back and that the driving would ring me an hour before delivery. The company never did return my call. Five minutes before delivery a driver rang me, then he rang again when he thought he couldn't come the direction the satnav was correctly indicating. He was bad-tempered, brusque, behaved as though I was personally forcing him into a job he didn't want to do and dumped the pallet on the road (hardly delivered 'to the door', which is through a gate and tiny courtyard.) We then had to set about dismantling the contents in the road and bringing it in piece by piece. A lovely extra touch after spending two days waiting. We haven't put the sofa together yet, but even if it's perfect - never again.

He primarily sells a mix of new and used pine furniture including chairs, tables, dressers and beds, but I've come here for the mirrors - simple styles that can be painted (or not) and are likely the cheapest you'll find for this quality. As indicated by the iconic storefront signage, you have to pay cash.
