I had passed Tomato Bar so many times over the years but never gave it a try until recently. Went with someone who frequents it often. We went on a weekday so we didn't have to wait - the place is very ample and has a good vibe to it. Not too uppity and not too fast casual, but very comfortable. Staff was friendly and patient. There's something on the menu for everyone here - and the quality is top quality across the board. We started with the doughnuts which are a must have. If you look at the pictures you almost can taste them!! They are delicious and addicting!! All the bread meant we had to do a salad in between to work in some greens. I had the Californian salad which I could've easily had as my entree. It was so flavorful and had a great combination of greens and savory toppings. We did a BUFF pizza and ALF TANNER pizza. I personally preferred the BUFF, but they were both good. The ALF was a little salty to me due to the Parmesan cheese topping. Overall, still good though. We were so full from the doughnuts and filling salads, even though we ordered the small, that we took both pizzas home almost fully in tact. This is another restaurant that is a must visit when we are in my husband's hometown! We went here for dinner with some friends. It was busy, but we were seated immediately. For an appetizer, we ordered a large Californian salad and a full order of doughnuts to split among 4 adults and 1 toddler. For dinner, the adults had a 10 inch Good Ole' Boy pizza and the monthly pizza special of She's a Beaut, Clark. I'm obsessed with the pizza dough here! Food was amazing and service was wonderful. As someone who goes out of his way to try different pizza, places... This is literally one of the best small franchises I've ever had. The crust is phenomenal. The flavor is full. Came in on a Friday night as we were looking for a restaurant close to our hotel with gluten/dairy free options, and this was one of the few we could find. Had to wait about 20 minutes to get a seat. Server took our drink orders, did not return with them for at least 10 minutes. We ordered our food at that point, which took a little over 30 minutes to be cooked and delivered to our table. The server did not check in at our table at all during this time, our food was run to us by the manager and another server, but our main server did not check back with us until about 20 minutes AFTER our food arrived, which was the first time she asked if we needed anything. So 50 minutes before asking if we needed refills on drinks or anything, which we had needed long before our food arrived. Not sure why our table was ignored as we observed her checking on a table near us 5-6 times during our stay. To top this, the food was tasty, but manager refused to substitute vegetables in place of meat at no cost, citing a corporate policy. I'm sorry but we should not be charged $2.90 to substitute green onions for a meat, vegetables are way cheaper. Completely unacceptable and they refused to remove the charge. Oh, and the upgrade to a GF crust was $4.00. For two personal pizzas (10") and a personal calzone (also 10"), our final bill came to over $60.00. Very overpriced at $20/person for what you get, everything is a la carte so no side salads included or anything like that, which would have been nice considering our wait time. Can't recommend this restaurant, at the very least not this location. There are better options at a similar price point who are far more attentive and willing to accommodate substitutions at no charge. read more

I regularly go to or take out from the Schererville,Tomato Bar Pizza Bakery. This evening though I decided to place an order for delivery. I requested a time 7:00PM. Was told it would be 7:05Pm, no problem. I made a simple add on request for me order. At 7:05pm I checked to see where my order was only to find out it had been delivered a half hour earlier, not a bell rung or the knock on the door. So much for the delivery service. Visiting in the area for work and was wanting pizza, I've seen tomato bar in Valparaiso and it's always looked good so I figured I would try it here and I'm glad I did. I did BYO pizza, so I have no complaints there because I was the one who made the pizza. Everything tasted pretty good and the pesto was delicious. Overall price was worth it. It is a large airy space and is loud like a cafeteria at least when we went. We were seated by the oven so got to watch the guys throw the dough. When parents went to show the kids the action they gave an extra flourish to their toss which was nice. We shared a large salad which was fresh and dressing was tasty. My friend had the pizza if the month, Cornholio- yes that cornholio. It had an elote taste and spice to it. Not bad but not my thing for pizza. She liked it. I created my own with pepperoni, bacon and black olives. Crust was not bad although next time I will ask for well done. I like a crisp on my pepperoni. They also had calzones which looked okay and there were wings passing us by as well. Beer, margaritas and other drinks also available. Our waitress was very nice. This is the place to go if you would like a delicious craft pizza. My husband's favorite is the good ole boy. I always enjoy the Greek salad which is chock full of ingredients. The Hulk salad wasn't enough to share with 4 adults, so if you're really hungry, get another appetizer. The portobello mushrooms are so good with the salad (if you like mushrooms). Well, the food was good and the atmosphere was good and the service was good, but nothing was really super fantastic. We got the bruschetta and the cheese bread appetizers, then I ordered the Bianco pizza and my daughter got the Magic Potion pizza (which was kind of a Margherita I think). My pizza was pretty bland - it really needed more sun dried tomatoes, and the roma tomatoes needed to be chopped and evenly spread out, I think. The toast with the bruschetta WAS really light and yummy! There was a nice night parking lot with plenty of parking, and the service was quick and polite (our server even chased me out to the car because I left my card on the table - which was above and beyond)! February 2022 - This is a very busy place. It has a good atmosphere with a bar on a platform. I had a small salad and we shared a 10" pepperoni and mushroom pizza. We also had a couple of Blue Moon beers. The salad was mostly greens with 2 grape tomatoes and 4 cucumber slices and red onions. The ranch dressing was very good. The pizza was good but did not have many toppings for the prices being charged. The crust was excellent. The service was good as well. Overall it is well worth trying but skip the 10" and start with the 14". The 10" is too small for 2 people. read more

The pizza was very decent. My son pushed me to try this and I enjoyed it. We started with some tea and a craft root beer (no refills). We ordered the cheese garlic bread.
