This was a very disappointing visit today. We had issues with our food and were ignored by management and wait staff. My husband ordered a poke bowl which he said tasted ok but there wasn't much in the way of fish, and my filet on my salad wasn't medium as requested; however the biggest issue was that my daughter was served a raw ground beef patty for loco moco, not medium or rare, but raw. You could smell raw ground beef. We struggled getting waitstaff's attention for quite awhile and both my husband and I made eye contact with the manager in the blue shirt wearing a headset. He looked our way, sent some one else in a tan shirt and walked away from the main dining room inside. We explained that the patty was raw. His response was dismissive with an explanation that it was always cooked medium, carried the plate away, even though I explained that it wasn't "medium". We waited a long time for a replacement. The replacement was delivered by someone from the kitchen and it was done, but was served with fresh white rice rather than fried rice and was missing the avocado requested. We had to wave someone once again to request avocado. Our waitress eventually returned, apologized, and gave us an appetizer comp card. Our bill showed the loco moco removed for "flavor" and then re-added to the bill. There are other better restaurant choices in the area, so I'd recommend skipping this one. read more

Used to love this place but the last 2 times have been a miss. No more complimentary bread which was delicious Tacos - used to be 3 now 2 for same price. I got the french dip that was super bland. The au jus it came with was barely enough for half a sandwich. Yes, we were able to ask for more but it just wasn't a great start. One of my kids barely wanted to their tenders and fries, which he used to love. Sacrificing quality in the name of $ is never a good thing. The crispy thin Potatoes served with it were delish. The dessert was the most exciting part of the meal. We kept seeing them walk by with these huge pieces of cake and knew we had to see the dessert menu. They ended up bringing out a tray with all 4 items. I still have no clue what dessert cost. We have dined at the Hawaii TBs but, first time on mainland and we weren't disappointed. Since we couldn't make it to Hawaii for my birthday this year-I decided why not escape to a place that reminds me of my favorite islands to celebrate? Away we went and boy was this one of the best birthday dinners of my life. We started off with Summer Specials like chilled watermelon, goat cheese, yogurt and honey fused together to make your taste buds dance and keep you refreshed on a hot day. Walking in, the tropical ambiance wowed me and I immediately felt a vibrant and relaxed resort feel with an island vibe. It consisted of lemongrass, coconut curry reduction, grilled asparagus (which I substituted with mashed potatoes), roasted carrots and almond rice. For the past two years, Tommy Bahama in Plano has consistently topped our list of favorite seafood restaurants, and with good reason. Their appetizers are a highlight; the Coconut Shrimp, Goat Cheese Dip, and Lump Blue Crab Cakes are all fantastic, today we tried Ahi Tuna Tacos and wife loved the smokey flavor and they were very light. Also, we enjoyed their unique summer special, the Crab Dumplings. These dumplings were served in a soup that strikingly reminded us of a Thai coconut soup, and we absolutely loved the dumplings themselves. When it comes to soups, the Lobster Bisque has always been an undisputed champion - a rich and flavorful staple for us that originally enticed us to make the drive all the way from Irving to Plano. However, in today's visit, we did notice a change in the bisque's taste, which was a bit surprising given how much we've loved it in the past. The entrees offer a diverse selection of perfectly prepared seafood. In Our past visits, We've savored the Pasta topped with Lobster, Blackened Mahi Mahi Tacos, the exquisite Chilean Seabass, and the delightful Macadamia Nut Crusted Fresh Catch. Today we got the Lump Blue Crab Cakes & they are so good we've tried them in both as appetizer and as entree. Beyond the food, Tommy Bahama excels in its beverages. We've enjoyed countless cocktails, wines, and beers over the years. Our recent visit included the refreshing Summer Watermelon Cocktail, a lively Summer Spritz, and a perfectly crafted Old Fashioned. Just not what it used to be. The biggest plus is the atmosphere as long as you are not sat in the back left section of the restaurant which is more like an airport lounge. They did away with the best part of their menu- the bread. This just comes across as they are financially struggling. The only fish they offer is red fish and something else. It is never that great. You can't beat this place over at the Legacy shops in Plano for a great atmosphere and people watching as well as good food and service. We made reservations on a Friday night and it needed it. There are tons of restaurants and tons of people walking around so planning ahead is essential. They had a single guitarist playing covers in the patio and he was great. The ahi tacos were great; and I know ahi is pricey but I think one more taco to the order would be good, otherwise just a little pricey for what you get. Other than that, you have to get the coconut shrimp. It doesn't disappoint. Overall, it's definitely not a gimmick restaurant attached to a store. It's legit and worth a visit. read more

I don't think we have a Tommy Bahama restaurant in California so all the more reason why we checked it out. Ambiance was awesome, the place has very chill feel. This would be a place I would take my family if we were celebrating a milestone. We were happy with our meals and service but for one glitch. My husband's water glass still had a lipstick mark on it (eeew) but he didn't notice it until the end of our meal. I was expecting some apologies but we didn't get it - I hope it's a fluke because it was close to closing time.
