My expectation was as low as low can be as an LA native with abundant fish and sushi back at home. I would say I was pleasantly surprised. Somehow they imported fresh fish and avocado into Switzerland and the marinate they used was tasty enough where soy sauce was not needed. The service was friendly and accommodating. They did charge a dollar per person for tap water which sucks. Overall, was not a bad experience for food if you need something close by and convenient.

There was a large open space inside with a stage for performances and a smaller upstairs area for additional seating. I liked how everything was open and spacious and flowed quite well. We had hot and cold buffets lined up on the sides, the bar was smack in the center of the room in a circle, so the bartenders could serve us on all sides, and the dessert buffet was against the wall on the other side of the room. They had small buffet tables for standing and mingling and eating, and also long high tables with bar chairs on the sides for sitting and eating. Lots of room in front for dancing later on in the night. I really enjoyed the food variety. Appetizers included samosas, spring rolls, rice in grape leaves, olives and cheese, sun-dried tomatoes wrapped around cheese. Cold dishes included some kind of carrot mousse, turkey slices in capers and cream sauce, delicious giant shrimp with cocktail sauce, and a variety of salads such as carrot, cucumber, pasta, corn, beet, tomato mozzarella, and lettuce. Hot dishes included roast beef with au jus sauce, chicken skewers, roasted potatoes, salmon, pork, rice, veggies, tortellini, and some kind of cabbage wrap. Dessert included ice cream, macaroons, tiramisu, raspberry mousse, flan, cream puffs, Creamschnitte and various other cakes and pastries. Restroom facilities were conveniently located to the side with lots of stalls, so little or no wait for the ladies room. :) And they also had baskets of lotion and hair spray and stuff there for you to use.

Came here for our 2 day stay in Zurich after a long 24 hrs flight…read more Samantha (the daughter) greeted us and she was so charming and helpful. We needed early checkin as our flight came early and she made it possible. We were in Suite #2: 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom with fully furnished kitchen; AC including full Washing machine and dryer (in the basement)! I absolutely loved this place. Sylvia (the Mom) was amazing and extremely helpful as well. I believe they can also provide you a parking spot if you need one. The best part about this place is: (1) pharmacy at the corner (2) coop supermarket a few blocks down (train can be taken there as well) (3) so many cute/cool walking stores nearby (4) safe to be out and about ~8/9pm if you're jet lagged (5) train stops a few feet from the hotel. We were able to go around the city with so much ease and comfort knowing we wouldn't have to walk after a long day of walking. This is a family owned place; the family has really made it a homey place. If you get a chance to stay here don't think twice.

This is a review of the Uto Kulm hotel, not one of the associated restaurants…read more My wife and I have stayed here twice while visiting family in Switzerland and loved our stay both times. The hotel's location cannot be beaten. There are great views of both the countryside and of the city of Zürich particularly if you go up the observation tower. The west facing hotel rooms also have absolutely gorgeous sunset views. The staff has always been very friendly and professional and a pleasure to deal with. What's probably most surprising about the Uto Kulm is how reasonably priced it can sometimes be. I'm guessing that they must do a lot of large parties and big events and during the times between those events there are often good deals to be had. We paid way less than you would expect for such a scenic place overlooking one of the most expensive cities in the world. Breakfast here is also delicious. It's not included in the base room rate but it is totally worth it. Everything is fresh and high quality and the view from the terrace is great.
