I went in for a shag haircut. Speaking to the hairstylist, I mentioned that I forgot to bring in my extensions that I wear on special occasions. She told me to bring them at my next appointment, as they are included in the cutting price. I live outside Tucson and the next day I happened to be in town. I thought I would call Toni n Guy to see if I could get the extensions cut to blend with the rest of the shag. The receptionist said she would ask a "hair consultatant" to see if any of them could do it, since the hairdresser Yessenia, was not working. Btw- I have had my extensions cut and colored there at Toni N Guy previously, with a different hairstylist. The receptionist got back on the phone and told me that a hair consultant would call me in 10 minutes to see if they could fit me in, especially since I wanted my hair done for the 4 th of July festivities. A hairstylist/ consultant called me back to clarify what I needed and to inform me that Yessenia was the stylist who had to cut my extensions, because she was the original cutter... however it would still be included with what I had already paid (it had only been one day since my cut). She scheduled my appointment for noon the next day when Yessenia worked. She said she'd put it down as a bang trim since it would not take longer than 10-15 minutes w a dry cut. I arrived at noon and Yessenia told me it would cost half of what my haircut cost. I told her that she mentioned it would be included and in fact, so did the receptionist from yesterday and the hair consultant/stylist from yesterday. Yessenia went and retrieved a manager and she explained that yes, it would cost 50% and the receptionist who worked yesterday was not answering her phone. I had a total of 3 people who told me the price was included. I was going to tip Yessenia regardless. I had also tipped her on my original cut over 20%. It's not the money, but the principle. The miscommunication, unprofessionalism, and hassle that I was made to feel by this establishment is unacceptable. I also drove nearly an hour each way for this appointment. When I left, I told them that I was no longer a customer and would report Toni n Guy on Yelp and BBB. They chuckled as I walked out the door. read more

This was my first visit to the Toni & Guy Salon (Sam Hughes - Tucson). When I entered, I was happily greeted by the receptionist, Karina - who offered me a chair and a beverage. The salon was busy!! The reception area was full and every stylist had someone in their chair. The music was upbeat but not too loud. I was introduced to my Stylist, Yasmeen, and I explained to her that I had a bad experience with my last stylist and my hair needed help. My last cut left my hair uneven and choppy so I had been growing it out. We discussed my hair goals, the type of cut I wanted today and how I wanted it to look when she finished. Not only was Yasmeen able to help with the structure, she was also able to style it again! She was AWESOME and totally exceeded what I was expecting!! If you have an issue with how your hair comes out it gets ignored. You try to reach out to the salon manager and don't get a call back. So it's ok to spend over $300 just to have your hair bleached then dyed back dark, shirt ruined from so much bleach, horrible blow dry job. I'll never go back! I had high hopes for this place because it had such good reviews. They butchered my hair. I asked for silver blonde with black base and didn't receive that at all. I'm just not too sure how it ended up like this. They charge me $285 for something I didn't want. I don't really mind that it's too short at the top. But I do mind that it's all uneven. I work with the public and I have My hair looking like this. I don't understand how they could look me in my face and charge me that. They totally took advantage and I will not be going back. Now I have to pay more money to get it fixed. They should be ashamed. And I personally believe they should at least give me half the money back. That would make it right. Please do better. Overall, I would recommend this salon. Every professional I have worked with is great (Crystal and Jared, FTW!), and I am always in and out reasonably quickly. This is awesome, as I'm a pretty busy person and spending hours at the salon is an opportunity cost. My only gripe is that this location is not operationally wonderful compared to the location at Tucson Mall. It seems like most of the time when I book online there is some issue with my appointment, and it needs to be rebooked. Today it took 45 minutes to get me into the chair, which was not convenient. If you have to be somewhere, I would recommend building in extra time onto your appointment, and I would not book here in an emergency situation, as, in my experience, there is sometimes a chance of being disappointed. read more

I have several thoughts. First, Gabby was great. My color and cut turned out exactly like I wanted. Thanks, Gabby. But I gave 3 stars because of cost. I about jumped out of my chair when she told me how much the salon charges to do a partial highlight, color my greys, and then a cut. I have short hair. I was quoted $290. I have NEVER paid more than $150, even when I got my hair done in Southern California... and that's when I had long hair! Gabby told me because this is considered a luxury salon. I appreciate the Goldwell coloring brand name. But Goldwell is exactly what I got in Carlsbad, CA too. U fortunately, I doubt I will be back bc of the price. Good quality hair color... I asked for partial highlights and lowlights. I even showed pictures of my past hair color done by a previous colorist. colorist Yesina was double booked so after foiling part of my hair she went to go attend to another client. She returned 30 minutes later to finish my foils. Instead of giving me lowlights she just colored the rest of the hair brown. the end result? Full all over brown hair with partial barely noticeable highlights what I asked for? partial highlights and lowlights and leave the rest of my hair alone. $215, 3.5hrs.... left my with my hair soaking wet- I had enough of that place. last year I paid $120 and it took less than 2hrs. however- back in October I had a better experience and Yesina did exactly what I asked and it was beautiful. i gave her a great tip and got lots of compliment. this time I didn't give a tip and my friends said " I thought you were getting highlight- your Hair is dark all over." read more

What the ever-loving crap. I walked in with the photo below, and walked out with the haircut you see. Seriously? I don't look like a boss, or a writer, or an earth mama, or an activist, or a world traveler. I look like a Walmart greeter whose dog just died (who then added insult to injury by getting a haircut at Walmart.) I keep swiping back and forth between the first two pictures. What I asked for, what I got. What I asked for, what I got. It's so far off it's kind of amazing. I spent 2 years growing out my hair including my bangs. It was one length, down to my shoulder blades, and I was pretty proud of it, my hair grows very slowly. But I decided to be a grown up, and I was ready for a short toussle-and-go flirty fun haircut that I wouldn't have to touch all day. I don't color, iron, or blow dry, and I wanted to compensate for that boring situation with a really fun cut. I wasn't sure if the picture I had would work, so I wanted to spend good money on a top-notch salon and stylist to advise me and help me get what I was looking for. I was willing to get a perm if necessary, but the whole chin length, no fuss wow was the point of getting my hair cut at all. Befitting my 59 years, but with a little bit of sass. Looks like ass? No, I'm pretty sure I didn't say that. Yes, I'm upset because this cut is untenably awful. I think the stylist must have assumed I was about to get a perm. But mostly I'm upset because it was so preventable. Piss poor management. I was very clear that I needed expert guidance, and I was willing to pay for an expert stylist and had actually booked a perm consultation. Obviously, the consult needed to come before the cut. Instead, they refused to consult with me until afterward, which sounds suspiciously like they wanted to make sure they got their $75 haircut done before their complimentary consult. A sweet girl with 4 months of experience rototilled my hair - and washed it with good Lord what was that, dish soap? It feels like straw - before the expert was even willing to look at the photo, and tell me what I was trying to achieve was impossible without blowing and ironing. In which case 1. I needed some other alternatives but 2. it was too late because half my hair was already gone. I also noticed that during my scheduled consult with this expert, the woman whose hair she was coloring at the same time was getting highly anxious over the length of time her hair was baking. I used to think of this as one of the premier salons in the city. Think I'll just go back to Supercuts, at least they don't take 2 hours and charge a fortune for a haircut I could have given myself in my own bathroom. Without a mirror. ETA: I rewet it and gave it a light scrunch, then checked it from the back. Really? REALLY? Yes, really, there's a big chunk missing on the right side, it's not just the way it's laying. I've been to this location several times and am always greatly satisfied with their service! The staff are very friendly and offer you beverages when you arrive. The deep conditioning treatment makes my hair feel lush. Emily, my stylist, knows how to get the job done! She is creative, conversational, and gives good hair care advice! I like to hear her ideas and recommendations for styling. Eventually I want to try to color my hair at this location. I leave Toni & Guy feeling confident and excited about my fresh cut! TONI and guy is a great place to get your hair done. They have so many talented professionals who really know what they're doing with hair. I fully trust the ladies that have done my hair thus far. They have olaplaex treatment here and deep conditioning which is tried both, and recommend. My hair was so soft afterwards. They are on the pricey side, but the stylists are trained very well and you get what you pay for. I highly recommend this place if you're looking to lighten your hair especially. Randomly walked in yesterday afternoon to see if I could get squeezed in for a haircut. I figured the worst that could happen was they would be too busy. One of their stylists agreed to squeeze me in, and I'm so grateful. After a day of playing with it myself, I have to say I got a great haircut. Yazzy is a relatively new stylist, but was fun and engaging, and knew what she was doing. She asked what I'm willing to do to style, which is an important question for a guy, and delivered a cut that makes a 50- something dude look good! I'll definitely be back. read more

Honestly I was so excited to go here because I had heard such good reviews and it was so disappointing. I sat in the chair with dye on my hair for upwards of 50 minutes after the stylist told me she would be back in 30 minutes to wash. When it was time to wash my hair another girl came to get me. She had to have been new because she clearly didn't know what was going on. She didn't wash the underneath part of my hair or get all of the shampoo out. Then she spent about five minutes rubbing her hand on my face to get hair dye off of it, which she then used a color remover that was mainly alcohol. BOTH did not work. The same girl then went to dry my hair and you could really tell she had no idea what she was doing. She pointed the heat on my neck for so long that I had to tell her to stop. She then pointed the dryer straight down on top of my head. For the amount they are charging I would expect a little more skill. read more
