We were completely unimpressed by Ben. I would not have ended up buying a car from here if I had been forced to work with him. I inquired about a used car, he said it did not have the features I wanted, then he pressured me to come see it. I said no thanks. Then he later texted me to say it DID have the features I wanted. I said I would come down the next day at a specific time to come see it, and I gave him the two lot ID codes of two cars I wanted to compare side by side. He texted back "ok." I got a call that night from the dealership confirming my appointment for the next day. I arrived the next day and Ben was already with someone. No apology he just said "looks like I got double booked." Like this happened to him due to some unforeseen force? I booked directly with him, so I'd word it as "I didn't think you'd actually show, so I double booked myself." The honest approach, but that is absolutely not his style. Then he said "the car has no gas in it, so we have to get some gas before you can test drive it." I said "I also wanted to see this second car, why don't I check that one out now?" He said "no that car is in a different lot on 122nd, you can test drive the first car out to 122nd and compare them side by side." I didn't want a 30 minute test drive, but we had already ventured out to Gresham, so I felt stuck with that option. We ended up standing in the dealership for 25 minutes before the car had gas in it and was ready to go. Now enter the reason we bought the car and why this review gets 4 stars - Dane. Dane stepped in and said he'd take us for a test drive. He wound up being a true gentleman. Calm and patient, and knowledgeable as hell. I was pretty pissed off at that point and decided I'd only take this car on a long ass test drive out to 122nd to waste their time and gas. I said some pretty spicy stuff to Dane and he just let it roll off his back, I couldn't phase him. He just maintained his professional stature and kept answering our questions. It felt like I was having a conversation with the instruction manual, and he started telling me a bunch of stuff I didn't even know about the vehicle, so eventually I was happy I was on such a long test drive because we actually needed the time for him to give me all the information he had. We got back to the dealership and I was dreading the 3 hour process of going back and forth about options and all of that garbage, and it was as horrible and long and drawn out as it always is, but Dane made it not as bad as it could have been. He stayed fully professional, and I respected him for the discipline - he was courteous, not pushy, never said any of that salesman garbage I've been subjected to for the last 6 months of "well if you don't buy it, someone will!" or "well my wife is on the way down to buy this car tonight!" None of that. He just told a brief personal story if we initiated the conversation, cracked gentle jokes that could not be offensive to anyone. Every time he left the desk to go negotiate he said something positive about us or the car to leave us with a friendly thought while we waited. I thought "this guy knows what he is doing." And I told him that as we left with the car and true to form - he didn't gloat, or boast, he just shook my hand and said "thanks." A true pro. Additionally - Josh in finance was completely hilarious and I didn't find him to be pushy at all. He TOTALLY tried to talk me into extra costs, relentlessly, but I went in knowing that's his job, and so I just smiled through my constant "no's" and he got it and wasn't offended and it was all good. The dealership finance process is completely awful and I would love to see a brand new way to buy cars, generally speaking, but as long as I have to go through financing, I'd choose Josh to lead the way. read more

Just have to take the time out to write this review, as I really need to express my appreciation to the staff of Gresham Honda. I have been searching for a car, to replace an older car I have had for awhile, for weeks and have had no luck. My situation is not ideal, though working on getting it better. This makes it very difficult to search for a good, affordable car. I had been getting SO frustrated. I wanted to see what a newer car would cost and sent in a virtual application. I did not really think I would be able to afford any kind of offer, but I wanted to see what would happen. I received an offer from Tanner VanSword, and of course it was not something I could even think of pursuing. He contacted me directly to see what he could do to help me. I let him know of my situation and what I could afford to pay as a down and my monthly budget. I told him I would understand it if he told me that my turns were totally unreasonable ~ but instead, he asked me if it would be OK for him to search his inventory for something that he could offer that would work for me. Most like it would not be what I have been looking for, realistically, but he thought he could find something I would be happy with. Well, Tanner sent me a car that was perfect for my situation. I came in to look at it, and test-drive it, and I was happy with it. I still did not think, with my situation, that Tanner would be able to get the Ok for me to actually afford to purchase the car. Each time he went to do some paperwork, I fully expected him to come back and say, 'Sorry, I don't think we will be able to make this work.' But instead, he did make it work! I was able to sign papers on a deal, for this nice car, on an offer I can make work. Thank you Tanner for your help and your wonderful customer service. All the folks we dealt with at Gresham Honda were very helpful and never made me feel less than a person of a better situation than myself. read more

After wasting almost an entire day "playing games" at another Honda dealership in Vancouver, WA., I called up Bill Kruse (referral from friend that recently bought there) at Gresham Honda. WOW! He said to let him check what was available and called me back in about 5 minutes with the answer! NONE of the "how much is this car?" "How much do you want it to be" B.S. My grandmother was helping me with the purchase. So, we drove right over and bought my new 2016 Honda Fit. Bill was a pleasure to work with. He included my grandmother in the process. We test drove, reviewed the options and got right down to making the purchase. From Bill we went to Shelly to complete the transaction. Another WOW! She really knew her stuff! The process was efficient, friendly (even my grandmother was impressed) and we were soon on our way in my new Honda Fit with only 11 miles on it! I have since had the opportunity to interact with the service department. Another WOW! Quick, friendly and thorough. I live in Camas, WA (Closer to another Vancouver Honda dealership.) but plan to do as many of my needed services at Tonkin Gresham Honda because they are so much better to deal with. All of their staff from Sales to Service have made my experience the best I've ever had, which makes my new Honda Fit an even greater pleasure to drive and own! We recently purchased our Honda Odyssey from Tonkin Honda. We were immediately greeted by a very friendly salesman, Eric, who patiently showed us a variety of Odysseys. We felt no sales pressure or rush. After spending a few weekends looking at Odyssey's at a variety of lots near our home in Albany and experiencing a magnitude of frustrating experiences on each and every lot and walking away with frustration, it was refreshing to be greeted by such a helpful and friendly staff. No games. Not only were we happy with the sales price, Mark, the sales manager also included the floor mats we were really hoping to have at no added expense! This is actually the second car that I have purchased from Tonkin Gresham Honda. And this second experience was even better then the first. I had an older Honda Civic which I wanted to trade in for a newer one. Not only did they give me a great price on my trade-in, but there were also great offers on Civic Leases. Which I ended up getting. This was my first lease and Salesman Ian and Sales Manager Brad did a great job explaining the pros and cons of a lease. They did not try to sell me on any additional parts or services. They were very straighforward with the numbers on my trade-In and also the numbers on the lease. The entire selling process including the time spent with the finance person was around two hours. I call this a "drive thru" event. Fast and efficient while also being very fun and friendlyl. Buying my 2016 CRV Touring from Andre Ozdemir was the best car buying experience my husband and I have had. He was professional, courteous and low pressure. Andre clearly communicated all aspects of the deal up front during our negotiations. We looked at dealers from Seattle all the way down to Kalamath Falls and Bend to McMinnville and by far, Mr. Ozdemir at Gresham Honda was the best! He gave us the best deal with no run-around. I recently bought a new car from Gresham Honda. I wasn't sure how this would go and was very worried that I would get pressured into buying something I didn't want, or push me to fast. It was the total opposite. I worked with Jared who is a salesman. He was very patient and informative. He never pushed me one bit, gave me all the information that I need about a couple different cars. When I came inside to work on some numbers so I could take that home and think about it. Both Jared and his manager Jeff informed me of all my financing options and didn't pressure me to buy. It was very nice and that was one of the biggest reasons I came back to purchase from them. I could have bought my car from anywhere, but it was the customer service, respect and willingness to go the extra mile for me is why I bought from Jared and Jeff. I came in this last weekend (6/25/2016) to replace my 2013 Dodge Dart, and had my sights on a black 2016 Civic Touring Coupe. The salesperson that I worked with , Bill Kruse, greeted me, took me for my test drive, and explained the ins and outs of the car (which drives like a dream, by the way!). When it came to deal time, he was polite and professional through the back and forth. He, nor any of his collegues, made me feel rushed, belittled, or a waste of their time through this process. When we finally settled on a price we could both work with, he saw the process through, making sure I had everything I needed while I worked with the finance department. In the end, I had a fantastic buy experience at this dealership, and am now driving a car that I've been looking at for a long time. I had called to inquiry of comparing Tonkin with T & C Honda for spark plug repairs and valve adjustment on my 2008 Honda Pilot SE. Mark in the service department confirm that he could save cost on the labor by having both done at the same time. When I contacted T& C Honda...they wanted to charge me over $200 more on labor. * as if they were doing the spark plugs and the valve adjustment at different appointments. The money I saved with Tonkin Honda, I had them do the Power steering and transmission fluids, oil change...and still was less than what T & C wanted to charge me for spark plugs and valve adjustment. I have been going to T & C for 7 years...but with the service I just received...Also I had a recall on a passenger airbag, Mark got me a 2016 Honda Accord coupe for a rental call...once again great service all around... read more

We finally bought another car from them since they had our money but they did not have the title so they gave us copies of papers that we were told would let us register the car...wrong! DMV said no we need the originals so back to the dealership we went and were told that they had mailed us the title, how stupid was that!! Told us it was overnighted but after 4 days of not receiving it I called but of course no one was available so I left a message and amazingly by the next morning I get the tracking information which says that they did not put the title in the mail until after we were there, why?? why the lies?? If anyone goes to this place to buy a car they are asking for whatever they get because they lie, lie lie!!! read more

I just bought a new honda from tonkin in gresham. I went in with the attitude that if i got pressured i would walk. I was at the far end of the lotwhen the salesman found me. His name is Scott Wildman. He was very polite and the oppisite of what i expected. He didnt try selling me anything until we appraised my car. I told him it was too low so he came back with a better offer. I spotted the car i wanted and he did the numbers to fit my budget. I told him i had to run this by my wife. Told him i would let him no. An hour later i called, said get it out of the showroom that i was on my way back. In all i spent 4hrs from start to explaining all the bells and whistles. Best Case Scenario! I was on a road trip driving back home to the Bay Area from Seattle when our 2008 Pilot started acting up. I searched for the local Honda service provider while on the I5 and it happened to be Tonkin. Graham Burchfield, our service provider correctly identified the problem over the phone (our alternator). Before we had arrived to the dealship he had found a part and already asked his staff how quickly he could get us back on the road. We arrived at the dealership at 4:30pm, Graham and his team got us back on the road by 10am the next morning. This could have dragged on for days. Bravo to Graham and his awesome staff at Tonkin Gresham. I would say the folks at the SF & Marin Honda could learn a lot from their Honda service colleagues in the Portland area. read more

I have had my cars serviced here since 2005, and I purchased a new car from them back in 2006. I was very satisfied with the purchase and with the service department until the past several years, during which I have experienced multiple incidents of not being advised with clear, factual information about the condition of my car, being told I needed a repair or service that was actually not needed, etc. The most recent time was last Saturday, and, per the printout from the service, I attempted to call the Service Manager. I left a message on Monday, requesting a call back to give some feedback, and have yet to receive any response. This dealership has lost my business. read more
