The produce is of the highest quality and the service is top notch too. You'll never wait long to be served - as soon as you join the queue a bell is rung and a staff member pops up and opens another register. It's the little things like this that make this a standout store. Unfortunately, I've heard the centre's Woolworths checks Metro's prices each morning and undercuts them. It concerns me that great locally owned stores like this one may soon go out of business due to this practice. Let's hope people choose quality and service rather than just price.

Not for Mother's day but because I often buy her flowers, and often fro metropolitan. I bought delphiniums which looked lovely and she was pleased. By Sunday morning, the majority of the leaves had wilted and half of the petals had fallen off! Because it was Mother's Day and we had family and friends visiting I did not have time to go back with them. By Monday morning they had to be binned. I returned on Wednesday, the first opportunity I had to report this. I spoke with the unnamed "manager" who advised they were aware that growers had been cutting flowers in some cases a couple of weeks early in order to get enough into store. I pointed out that I did not pay for 2 week old flowers and there was no sign saying they were reduced in any. Effectively he admitted they were selling produce not of merchantable quality. I was just met with a shrug and told if I had the flowers and a receipt he might be able to do something. Who keeps a receipt for a $20 bunch of flowers, and who keeps a dead bunch for days?The so called manager obviously had no idea of consumer laws, or even customer service. It wouldn't have been so bad as I wasn't looking for a refund, just to let them know. An apology would have been plenty.

The prices are pretty competitive down near Grote St, and you can easily duck back and forth between stalls, choosing the best prices and quality. The stock here is of reasonable quality, although be sure to give everything the touch and smell check. I once bought some sweet potatoes here without carefully inspecting, and they were actually quite mouldy. The great thing about buying fruit and veg from small family stalls like this is if you really want, you can probably find out where the stuff is grown, and other details like that.

But if you want quality produce for your guests where they can taste the difference, this is a great place to shop. They also have a great website with loads of recipes and an online store where you can order meat to be delivered. Feast at Unley offers truly outstanding products and lovely, old-fashioned service.

I don't eat meat so cannot comment on their red meat but Feast's stores have an excellent range of locally sourced, small producers. The sausages were yummy and I will be back to try their chicken, cinnamon and apple sausages or traditional gourmet chicken variety. High end prices but excellent quality product.

The staff are incredibly helpful and will take the time to find the best piece of fish for you (as well as recommend serving sizes if you are entertaining). Product sells out quickly on Saturdays so it is worth getting in early for the best cuts. However, if you go 1 hour before close all fillets are normally half price! I love that most of the fresh fish is sourced from SA (where they can) and the prices are so reasonable and often better than your supermarket stock. If you're doing some last minute entertaining then this is the place to go, with a range of dips, crackers, seasonings and even lemons in store to add to the perfect Saturday dinner!

These days it's a world apart, in fact strolling through the store just before Christmas I'd have to say it's one of the better seafood stores in Adelaide now - a tremendous range of fresh and snap frozen fish and seafood, and some truly beautiful prawns. Plenty of staff were on hand, partly due to the proximity to Christmas, I imagine, but they've worked out a good flowthrough for the store - and have all the associated extra's you're likely to need to prepare the produce - garlic, ginger, spices, oils, sauces, coatings abound as you approach the row of checkouts. Parking is good - for the silly season long weekends of Christmas & Easter it gets a little hectic, but otherwise there's plenty of space in the car park, even at it's busiest on Saturday mornings.

This is the first time I have visited these markets, I've been a member of the Willunga Farmers Market for a number of months now and having recently move closer to Adelaide needed to find my new organic fix. Not disappointed in the slightest. With a few more stalls then it's Willunga counterpart you are bound to fill your fridge in a jiffy. The veggies and fruit are outside and your meats and baked goods are kept cool undercover. The buzz is hectic with some stalls requiring a ten minute wait in a line. I admit I did not take up this waste of time as anywhere with a line does not deserve my time or attention. This is generally just my motto for pubs and clubs but if the line is too long then it's goodbye wait times. The produce in these stalls did appear nicer and more varied but this will be for testing in later visits. You can become a member for $65 which will get you a discount of 10%. The produce is already quite cheap as you have cut out the middle man who takes his cut at the shops so purchasing a membership will only make your experience even better and a few weekly buys and you've have recouped this money within a few months anyway.

I was lucky enough to get invited along to the Norwood Community Markets not too long after they…read morefirst started up. I got to meet Chantalle, who runs the markets, and I got to sample plenty of things from the various stalls. I've been back a few times, and have got to see many changes at the markets, including the move to the beautiful Wesley Church on the corner of the Parade and Portrush Road. The market is a real mix bag, selling everything from vintage goods and clothing, craft, jewellery, fresh fruit, tea, and so much more. Regulars include an Indian curry stall which is always popular, and a book stall that support the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. There's the badge making stall for kids (you can bring your own pictures along, draw one, or choose from the ones available), as well as free kids activities, and sometimes you'll find a train for the kids or a jumping castle. Every time I head along I'm shocked that there aren't more people around. But I have a feeling that on some nice Spring & Summer markets they'll flock there. It's a great thing for the local community to embrace. The markets are on the 2nd & 4th Sat of every month.
