After walking all the way down to the shop on Monday, only to have it be closed, I returned on Tuesday to a short wait. I simply wanted my hair buzzed close to the scalp and a shave. They succeeded at both and were fanatical about every hair on my head and face. They did a great job! The price attached to it was a little steep(45 Euro w/o tip, 55 with tip). I came back and no Renato. Then this old lady who was by the public bathrooms told me to come to Pinto Carmine. It is in ATRIANI. Next to Amalfi. Literally an 8 minute walk. Shorter than walking up the entire Amalfi shops. Carmine gave me an awesome cut AND shampoo for 15 euros! BEST CUT EVER!

I went to Luisa e Flavia Salon at recommendation of my hotel. Tina did my hair - I wish I could take her back home with me! I also loved the whole vibe of the salon. Lots of local women bustling about and talking. Getting nails and hair done at the same time and chatting away. Tina was right on time for my appointment. I was a few minutes early too. She was quick - hair done in 55 minutes. She's very sweet. I highly recommend Tina!!! But I also saw other women getting blow outs and they looked fab.

The staff was warm and friendly and said that they could accommodate this walk-in. Yes, success! Admittedly, I was a bit nervous about the hair-styling not only because my command of the Italian language is not awesome but also because one never knows who to trust with the hair! But, I figured that since this was only a wash and blow-dry, it wouldn't cause any irreversible problem so I stayed and I am so glad I did! During my brief wait for a stylist, I perused the salons offering of beauty products which included some divine and exclusive perfumes...as a self-proclaimed perfume connoisseur, this can only mean trouble for me! But the good kind of trouble! The products they used on my hair, while I have no idea what they are, smelled delicious. And, the woman who styled my hair was very nice and somewhat maternal. It sounds like a strange way to describe a person but I just simply felt like I was in good hands with her. She spoke about as much English as I speak Italian so we said very little to one another but we somehow seemed to understand each other. I love when that happens! I understand, from the woman who checked me in, that the salon is jointly owned by her and her mother (Luisa e Flavia) and it was very obvious that she likes what she does for a living. The salon was steadily bustling with all manner of women and everyone seemed genuinely happy. My hair looked and felt amazing and I was very pleased with the service at this salon. I checked-out with great hair along with a couple of those exquisite perfumes and, whenever I use them, I fondly reminisce of my great experience at Luisa e Flavia and of the wonderful town of Positano.
