I don't know why I try with this office. I haven't been there in about 2 years but I had several friends rave about Dr. Vu, so I thought I'd give him another try. I made an online appointment through the website and immediately got a notification saying that date was not available, as they were actually closed. OK, so I rescheduled another day. Mind you these were showing as actual available appointments. I didn't get a confirmation via email so, the day of, I called during normal business hours and got an automated voice message. I couldn't get ahold of somebody during their normal business hours. I showed up to my appointment and was told there were no doctors in the office today. What in the actual heck? Your online appointment system lists appointment times that don't really exist, your staff doesn't pick up the phone during normal business hours, and I have regularly wasted time at the office. Yeah, this has to be the last straw. Maybe I'm just unlucky at this office or maybe fate is telling me this isn't the optometrist for me. Oh well. read more

Right now, the common cold is going around. And, before I put my face in their eye measurement machines, I asked if they'd cleaned the surfaces after each customer. The girl there said "Oh, yes. We clean the machines before each customer.". However, I noticed heavy dust, eyelashes, and facial oils on the machines, and I told her what I saw right there. But, she insisted, saying "Yes. No... We also clean them AFTER every customer too. Don't worry about it.". I decided to say nothing and get it over with. Now. Dr. Vu is indeed a skilled optometrist, and I appreciate his abilities, and respect his dedication. Unfortunately though, he 's sort of got a way of asking a few too many personal questions, which makes me uncomfortable. He took offense to the fact that I didn't wish to talk about my personal life, saying "I am your doctor. Because of that you must tell me everything you know about yourself.". That is when I politely brought up the dirty machines, and that the girl there insisted they were clean, but they weren't. He ignored me, but really pushed the fact that he is a doctor, which I simply agreed with. Both of us now irritated (but calm), finished the appointment as quickly as possible. They called me to let me know they did not have those appointment times available but we're helpful enough to accommodate me and set me up with an appointment less than 24 hours later. Is it weird to say that you had fun at the eye doctor? Does it make me a dork? Oh well. It's true. I had fun at the eye doctor. Dr. Vu is great. He's really nice, easy to talk to, explains everything so well that you feel like you got a mini course in the biology of the eye. He takes his time and checks everything. I feel 100% better about the health of my eyes because of my visit to Dr. Vu. The front staff is fantastic. They are friendly, easy to talk to, and so willing to help. A new patient came in while I was there and brought her old glasses with her which were broken. They offered immediately to fix them for her so that she wouldn't have to have broken glasses. This review is ALSO long overdue. I am what you would call, oh... a picky patient. I have had many eye glasses made and sunglasses too by optometrists. I think I get a new pair every year since I could afford them - I have about 10 pairs of eyeglasses. I have funky eyes - my left eye can hardly see a few feet away from me, my right eye is nearly 2020. I think I have a slight lazy eye, and I have terrible night vision. Whew! Dr. Vu is thorough, gentle, knowledgeable, and really takes the time to explain everything going on in his exam. For example, I had no idea but I have fatty streaks in the arteries of my eyes - he recommended I take omega oil supplements and I hope it has helped! But most importantly, Dr. Vu understands my special requests - and by that, I mean, look: great vision is important, but I don't want to see every single pore on everyone's face, and I don't want to see mine most of the day either! I call it "casual vision". Not one single doctor has gotten that concept. When i explained that to Dr. Vu, he totally understood. I usually get a raised eyebrow and "she's crazy" look. So I have gotten two pairs of designer eyeglasses that are actually MORE comfortable to wear than when I am NOT wearing them. (I have other designer ones, Prada, rimless, Guess, etc...they dont compare to these). I also had them order me a custom pair of sunglasses from oakley for my fiance. And for when I am feeling adventurous, I also bought a few pairs of comfortable color contacts and they feel great! So you see, I have had many experiences with them already. I know she's not there anymore, but Maureen helped pick out my glasses and they get me more compliments than any other pair I've had. I also love Selena - she is so kind, sweet, and efficient. You are in great hands with Dr. Vu. He is the most intelligent, kind and easy going doctor I have ever met. He's very down to earth and easy to talk to and you can see how knowledgeable and caring he is when it comes to his patients. I actually started seeing him after i received my lasik surgery a couple years ago and I haven't stopped since. His office staff is also great, very courteous, patient and helpful. I needed a doctor's note for an issue at work and my other doctor I called stated they would charge me $45, but I spoke with Maureen and she said to go ahead and email her the letter/note and she would have Dr. Vu sign it for me free of charge. It's this kind of customer service and care that keeps me coming back to Dr. Vu and keeps me recommending him to everyone I know. Another time I came in for an emergency visit because I kept seeing these things floating in my eye and I freaked out now knowing what it was. Needless to say, he checked me out and said that it was completely normal. I was 2,000 miles from home and had discomfort in my right eye. I called several eye doctors close to my hotel, and from the moment they answered the phone there it just felt different. For one thing, their first question wasn't about my insurance! When I got to the office they were just as welcoming and concerned for me as they were on the phone, and when I was seen by Dr. Vu, it surpassed all of my expectations. He did a full exam, told me what he saw, gave me drops to get through the holiday weekend, and suggested I see my doctor when I got home. I love going in for my annual exam. I love Dr. Vu's fun spirit and being able to catch up with him with what's going on in my life and his. He truly remembers everything! It's like I've never been gone! He is so personal and I love that. I don't think they check your insurance before you come in, so make sure that you are covered for the date of your appointment before you see the doctor. I had a lapse in coverage and I didn't know it, then I was charged later for the visit. If you check, you're fine; or if you ask them to check for you, they are more than happy to do that for you. read more

I knew I needed glasses, but I wasn't sure if I could afford them or what I needed to do next. I couldn't see at night while driving and I needed comfortable glasses that I felt confident in. I looked up optometrists in the area and found these guys. It was a Saturday and other optometrists had said they could only schedule an appointment for me in a few days. But I really needed it now. I called them and they said I could come in same day in an hour! I was so shocked that they had an appointment open that quick on a Saturday! I was so happy. On the phone they were very very nice and relaxed. I didn't get bothered or anything they set me up real quick. I came in the next hour and they were so friendly at the front desk! They were nice, down to earth, understanding, and genuinely interested in the customer. I talked with them a little. They recognized who I was from the phone and they said it will only be a minute. I sit down and I was called in like a minute later. It was very quick. No loooong waiting process or anything like that. I came in and boom I was in for my appointment. I go in with Dr. Vu and he was super nice! He told me what he would do, asked about me, and saw what I really wanted. He did all the tests and got the perfect lenses for me so that I could have 20/20 vision. It was quick, and an easy process! Then I get taken out to the glasses and the front desk people helped me find the exact glasses I wanted! I of course took some time because I wanted to get the right pair and they were patient with me the whole time. Two of them came over to see and help me pick. Because of them I found my favorite glasses and it wasn't very expensive either! They were so nice and helpful and I will always definitely go back there for my eye appointments/getting glasses. Dr. Vu is the second optometrist I've had in my life. The only reason I stopped seeing my other Dr. was I moved too far from their office. Back to Dr. Vu, he was recommended to me by a friend and she was right. He is very nice and very thorough with my eye care.
