I will give my review on 3 counts: cleanliness, hair and beard Cleanliness: Clean safe store. The barbers were wearing face masks. I would have preferred a face shield too because the face comes pretty close during a shave. Hair: Simply amazing. Loved what Patrick did with my hair. Amazing part and fade. Just loved it and highly recommend him. Beard: I would say I am 60% satisfied. The reason is I specifically asked him that I want length and volume and just need to trim the strays and have a good shape. He got a nice shape but about 40-50% of my beard was removed because of this and that was not fun. Now I am no expert and am not sure if that much length needed to be removed for the shape but I would have preferred to leave the beard a tad longer.

When we came for the cut my son was completely enamoured with the cars that he could sit in and the spider man cape that he got to wear. It immediately caught my attention because in the five years I've been living in Yonge and Eglinton, I have not found a decent place to get a fade. I've visited Atlanta Hair Design numerous times, but the experience was often frustrating. The barber would either be late, or a no-show. When I finally did get my hair cut, the quality was average at best. To make matters worse, it was more expensive than any shop I've been to ($20 plus tax, plus tip). The sign at MR & Barber Lounge said $16. I Googled it, but came up with no hits. I figured for $16 it was worth a shot, and I'm glad I took it. The barber, Malik, cut my hair and he knows his stuff. He was very meticulous, but he wasn't slow. He took his time to make sure he perfected his work, and I could tell he takes pride in his craft. I appreciated this because a lot of barbers want you in and out of the chair as fast as possible so they can keep their line moving. This is understandable, but not a lot of barbers in my experience can be efficient and maintain a high level of quality. Malik even takes the time to explain his process to me, and why he uses certain clippers over others when cutting my hair. I've had barbers who started cutting my hair before even asking me what I wanted. The shop is located right beside the Sherwin Williams paint store. It's easy to miss because the strorefront is rather narrow. There's parking behind the store or on the street (it's free after 6 pm on Donlea, or free for 1 hour during the day). The shop is brand new, and it's always clean. I've been to MR & Barber Lounge a couple of times now. I'm extremely pleased that it's very accessible and staffed with competent barbers. It's definitely my go-to spot for a haircut now.

A couple of notes for all of you living in the area:…read more 1). The salon closes at 6, not 8 as it says on Yelp! 2). The listed pictures are inaccurate, the salon looks different now (new owner I assume), kind of run down. 3) Evenings are busy and there is only one barber working. 4) I see this is a target place to bring your kids for a cut, especially boys: during our 55 minutes there 1 out of 4 clients was an adult. 5) Call ahead!!!! And even if you do, make sure to ask how many people are ahead of you. We ended up waiting 45 minutes although we came on time, but the barber kindly asked everyone to stay and did his best to cut quickly. It's just that with younger kids waiting for that long is problematic. Each client takes ca 15-20m, so make sure you won't end up waiting. 6) We got our haircut from Lui, a very experienced barber who worked in this trade for 34 years. Very nice gentleman. 7) Quality of the haircut was good. Price - $20 for short. Hope it helps!
