Are you looking to support a socially conscious company as well as treat yourself to something tasty? Well, look no further than Tony's Chocolonely!
Tony's Chocolonely, while I have purchased and eaten this product in the U.S. for sometime, I sadly didn't pay enough attention to realize it was a Dutch company founded in 2005. We recently were traveling and exploring Amsterdam when I learned that the company is actually headquartered there. I also learned, since returning home in prep to write my review on their product, that their first expansion in the U.S. was their Interantional office (local for me) in Portland, OR.
So the chocolate itself is sweet and creamy. I am a big chocolate fan and always enjoy sharing a bar with my hubby and/or a friend. Oh, don't forget, these bars and the incredible variety of flavors make for an excellent S'MORES dessert bar. Imagine the possibilities.
They have a huge variety to choose from. In the United States, the available flavors of the chocolate bars are (in order of introduction):
- Milk chocolate 32%
- Extra dark chocolate 70%
- Milk caramel sea salt 32%
- Dark almond sea salt 51%
- Dark milk pretzel toffee 42%
- Dark pecan coconut 51%
- Milk hazelnut 32%
- Milk honey almond nougat 32%
- White raspberry popping candy 28%
And much much more........
I also did not know that the reason the bars are made unevenly divided is that it is a symbol of the unequal distribution of incomes in the chocolate industry.
I encourage you to learn more about this company and support their mission around eliminating child labor from the production of chocolate.
