It becomes quite easy to forget that you're actually in a multiplex (especially when they start lighting candles everywhere. The food is of course Italian (with a name like Bella Italia, you're hardly going to expect Indian are you?), and though the pasta and pizza are all good there is a salmon dish, that I've completely forgotten the name of, but which is covered in the most amazing sauce. One slightly negative thing that I have noticed, is that the staff whilst friendly can often take quite a while with the bill (you'd think that being next door to a cinema they'd realise that many of their patrons probably have films to go to). Aside from that little niggle, a good place to eat, and if you're planning on seeing a film just make sure you leave plenty of time.

Food: Pollo Nero - Meal sent back because the vegetables were smothered in oil and butter, and I mean smothered to where that's all you could taste or smell, even though requested to come without (dry) anything. Chicken and sauce was good on the first but the waitress took my entire plate away, just for new veggies, and the replacement was not good at all; basically flavourless cream with pepper corns thrown in it and veggies that were boiled to remove the oil/butter, but didn't eliminate that flavour. Plus, the potatoes were essentially thicker chips that were cut in half and deep fried. Lasagna - Flavourful but the pasta itself was dry and crunchy. Drinks: Asked if they could make a red wine sangria, but the waitress said no without checking with the bar staff, even though they had all the ingredients on hand based on the listed drinks menu. We had water because the staff didn't care about suggesting an alternative. Desert: Wasn't asked if we wanted anything, so requested the bill and we left. Staff: Didn't see one member of staff smile the entire time we were there. They mostly mulled around the tables looking for something to do, but when we actually wanted someone they had all disappeared. If there was a manager present the only indication was he wasn't dressed the same, but not once did he check on any table or even come by when my meal was taken back to the kitchen. Ambiance - Felt like we were in a pub and not a restaurant, with a TV on the wall and music playing far too loud for the environment. Overall - A production-line Italian restaurant which neither stood out nor was worthy of us returning. They also added a (non-mandatory) 10% tip to the final bill... this is not the US, where tipping is at the customs discretion and Not automatically added, whether one could request it be removed or not. Gave them 2 stars but it was a 1.5 star experience at most, because both the kitchen and front of house staff require extensive training and re-training. If you've low standards and okay going somewhere that's absolutely nothing special, then this place is a perfect choice to waste your money.

After a long (maybe too long) day of shopping I went for a well earned rest at their newly opened branch in the food quarter . First course of king prawns were fab but second course of a frozen Calzone was not so great!! I sent the first Calzone back and management were very apologetic. I licked my lips and waited in anticipitation for my new dish to arrive.. and when it did... Mmm another frozen Calzone. I am no chef but I cant imagine a Calzone is supposed to give you frost bite so I complained to a very nice, well presented manager. He apologised profusely and offered me another dish, by this point I had had enough of these ice pops disguised as pizzas so I gave it a miss. Although this meal was a disaster, the manager dealt with my complaint so well I decided to give it another go the following week. This time the food was fantastic. It is a light, clean, airy resaturant and is a great location for people watching. Frozen Calzones aside I think it is a lovely restaurant and I will be returning soon. Pontcanna is a nice place to live but it i pricey and it does not have a monopoly on nice little family run cafes and restaurants. One of my best friends live near by and I have been in pretty much every bar and restaurant in this area and they are ok. I went to Cibo found the food ok but the attitude of the service staff was just about acceptable sometimes bordering on rude. I don't mean deliberately rude but it was as if I was only there by luck and my purpose was to give them money. If you go there I'm sure you will have food that is passable - if you think its exceptional then you need to eat out more.

It's not that Cibo is plain... far from it. It's lovely. It is tastefully furnished with a beautiful wooden bar and serving are that takes center stage. The garden is really sweet. It's entirely enclosed and intimate. But, when compared to the sheer scale and grandure there's ultimately no comparison between this place and The North Star. The food, I would say is n a par... but may be Cibo clinches it... it's a tough call...!?!

I remember thinking as we walked into the building that the wood fire oven, which was set in plain view of the tables and seats, was a good sign. Usually those ovens mean that pretty good food will be delivered to the table. In addition to proudly displaying their working oven, the place featured two levels of seating options and a "minimalist" appearance that I really appreciated. Not only did it help a place that looks a little small on the outside feel spacious, it also let in a lot of natural light through the entire establishment during a very beautiful day. Since my travel buddy and I were visiting in September, fall flavors were inching into menus everywhere. Prezzo was no exception: one fall special that caught my eye was a pumpkin and lobster pizza - a pizza featuring spinach, cherry tomatoes, red onion, basil, roquito chilli peppers, bella lodi and mozzarella cheese on a pumpkin puree base. Ultimately my dining buddy and I ended up sharing one of these pizzas. We admittedly didn't read the menu as closely as we should have and so we were surprised by how hot the peppers were - that was entirely our bad, though. They weren't bad as a topping by any means, either. And the other toppings definitely helped to balance out the peppers, so the meal we got was ultimately quite tasty. Very creamy, too, between the cheese and pumpkin base. Unfortunately, as good as the food was, the meal here was not perfect. The general delay in service others have mentioned struck at our table as well - I even avoided finishing my pepper-topped pizza until another round of water was brought out to the table at one point. I remember thinking how silly it was that no one would come by more often to check on our drinks, as the place was practically empty while we were dining. Fortunately, this was one of the only places during our trip where their wi-fi actually worked, so while it did mean we were left feeling thirsty periodically, my dining buddy and I admittedly didn't mind the slow service for the most part. It just meant we had a chance to check our email and whatnot. Overall, the place's look and set-up impressed me, the food left me happy and satisfied, and while the service was not perfect, the wi-fi at least was. I would consider dropping in at one of Prezzo's locations again during a return trip to Britain, for sure.

I came here looking for something small to eat, with this place just being a 5-10 minute walk from my hotel, also in central Cardiff. It is quite a small place, with some upstairs seating and toilets being upstairs other than a disabled toilet, but the upstairs seemed to be rarely used. I came here today just to order a starter and my dessert, the prices were reasonable however a little pricey, but with my Tastecard, I was able to get 241, which gives 241 on all food excluding sides between Sunday and Thursday, excluding the month of December. I started off with a Large Pan Cipolla, which was basically a gluten free garlic bread with cheese and onion, I was originally gave a funny look and reaction from my server just for ordering a starter, the service in general seemed a little slow, despite not many people being in the restaurant, however there did only seem to be one main server working, and someone else going in and out, as well as 2 chefs in the kitchen. The food was okay, but sadly it was nothing more than that, however as per usual with most pizza bases, I've got from Prezzo, this was disappointing but expected. For my dessert, I went on to order 3 small Panna Cotta's with a little berry compote, however there wasn't much of this, so it was just cooked cream, for this I found £5.99 to be a little pricey, what I did have was nice but it just tasted a little cheap and like a cross between jelly and ice cream, and it got sickly after a while. My orange juice was also a little watery, and it wasn't too nice either, everything about this place seems average compared to Prezzo standards, perhaps a little poorer and sadly because of this I sadly feel they have only done enough to earn two stars.
