I've gone from a cute bob to long layered locks, and now I'm rockin' - what I think the young kids are calling, "The Kate." ...Except with bangs. I know it's out of the way for me, as I now call 'The Trose home, but whenever it's time for a touchup and I'm over at my 'rent's casa, I'm sure to give Tony a visit, even if it's just for a bang trim. Now that he has his own place, it's more of a full-service salon, with facials, waxing; there's even a massage chair that makes waiting more comfortable. Absolutely love his gem of an establishment! The staff, especially Anne, are extremely friendly. The prices are more than fair (lower than most places I've been to), and they do GREAT work! Anne is great to talk to, and really listens to what you would like for your hair. She also explains the processes she does, gives feedback, and ultimately makes whatever you decide happen. She gave me the best blonde balayage I've ever gotten and did not try and tell me to "come back in a month/6 weeks/ 2 months" but gave me a reasonable 4-6 months. Took a chance when I needed to update my blonde (highlights, etc) but did not feel like going to Midtown. The reviews here talk about Ann a lot (my favorite one is the one that calls her the color Jedi), anyway I thought I probably wouldn't have the opportunity to work with her as I had a last minute appointment. My hair was so scraggly with 2 lines of demarcation on my roots from old highlights, me trying to cover it up, and new growth. Also some slight orange tints in places. So I get introduced to my hairdresser for the day and it turns out that she was the famous Ann. I think I may have even said, "ah so you're the famous Ann?" "Yup that's me..." she responded something along those lines. "Whatcha lookin to do?" I told her how I wanted to be blonde, but no chunky streaks/just naturally blended color...she didn't flinch, she just said "yup I hear you...this ain't the 90's anymore...zebra stripes are out....let me tell you what we are going to do..." She then explained the balayage process a little bit, but I have to tell you that it was her confidence in what she does and her commanding presence that made me feel comfortable and safe almost immediately. "This woman knows what she is talking about," I thought. Turns out I was right in more ways than one. Fantastic is an understatement of my experience. Outcome of hair? Outstanding (I'll attach a photo) Working with Ann? Awesome...and I may have learned a little bit about myself/life, too. Shhh..lol, meaning she is more than just a confident woman who is the best at what she does, she's a great conversationalist. If you don't want to talk, it's fine, too. She picks up on people's vibes and adapts so it's not a painful process... like having to worry about trying to keep up with any fancy froufrou hairstylist's generally shallow topics of conversation. So 2 super thumbs up for Tony's Salon and Ann! The place had a constant flow of customers with smiles so I know the other stylists are doing something right as well. I cannot be happier with my experience today! Timothy is a hair god. He scolded me for letting my hair get so awful (playfully, not meanly), then he asked me what I had in mind. I showed him several pictures, and he pointed out which style would look best, then he went to town! He probably took off six inches of nasty two-year-old hair, did some top highlighting, put me under the dryer, washed, then started to dry. This is my first time in about 2 1/2 years getting my hair done and Anne did an awesome job! I came in for an ash brown balayage and a trim. I have very long hair and I was nervous at first, but everything turned out really nice. No kidding, my hair is so thick and difficult for me to dry and style on my own. She layered and thinned my hair out for me, to where it will be easier to manage.
