The first time I waited 45 minutes before phoning back to see how much longer I would have to wait. The dispatcher told me that after 10 minutes my request was removed. "Why", I asked. "Because that is what we do", I was told. This is not an explanation nor is it logical. The second time I waited 30 minutes - again, I phoned and asked where my cab was and again I was told that my request had been removed. This policy is ludicrous and frustrating to say the least. How much business is Duffy's losing by doing this? Yesterday, I phoned for a cab and I specifically asked for a car because I have mobility issues and have trouble getting into and out of SUV's and Vans. What should show up 20 minutes later? A van. So either the Dispatcher did not relay that message or the cab driver did not read it. Either way, this is BAD Customer Service. This Driver (Cab No. 481) is ignorant, rude, refuses to shut up and kept talking over me, would not listen to me and worst of all does not keep his hands to himself. He kept trying to shove me into the backseat when I have to move slowly and in a certain way so I do not hurt myself. I have bruises on my arm from where he grabbed me and shoved me into the backseat. This behaviour is unacceptable on so many levels. Unwanted touching is considered simple battery which is illegal. He should have let me get in on my own, in my own time. Then he put my bags in haphazardly and when he took a turn to sharply, one bag which had a glass bottle fell between the seat and the door. Thankfully when he opened the door to get the bags for me, he was able to not break the bottle. Otherwise he or Duffy's would be buying me a new bottle. DO NOT USE DUFFY'S TAXI in Winnipeg.

Winnipeg has two major taxi companies: Unicity Taxi and Duffy's Taxi…read more When I needed to take a taxi between my home and the airport back in the day, I used the former. For my first job in Winnipeg, if I had an early shift before Winnipeg Transit started its bus service, I'd get a taxi chit from Duffy's Taxi and get to work that way. Winnipeg Transit buses start running at 6 am. I had the occasional shift at 5:30 am, 6 am, and 6:30 am. All three start times qualified for getting a taxi chit from any manager at my former place of employment to get me to work. It was straightforward using the taxi chit. I'd call Duffy's to get a taxi to come to fetch me. Taxi drivers were pretty accurate getting to my apartment building. I rarely had any issues. They also knew where to drop me off without scratching their heads because I worked at a building at the corner of Portage and Main. I'd give them my chit and was good. It's funny how I never called this taxi company to get me to and from the airport. Perhaps I felt like sharing the wealth between the two cab companies. To date, I still prefer taking a taxi to the airport than going with a ride-sharing service. It's more habit than installing another app. I'd rather call and speak to a dispatcher to have a taxi come get me. I'm not surprised about the low ratings here when it comes to waiting for a taxi during peak hours. My experiences have been during non-peak hours when folks are sleeping and I'm the oddball going into work before the sun rises. I have no issues with Duffy's Taxi. I'm glad that it's still around. This morning, however, our party of four experienced our worst ever tour. We are all well travelled and understand "things happen." Our nearly two hour experience was torturous and could have been prevented with some professionalism. In the owner's defense, she arrived on time and provided each of us a bottle of water. The small six van was filthy inside( she'd been to the beach!) Six adults plus driver stuffed into a van that could have comfortably held only 6 at best. Stuffy, no air circulation, warm. Two hours with no stop( which was fine because we just wanted it over). She was not knowledgeable at all and could not answer many of our questions. I learned much more on a 30 minute boat tour. She was not a safe driver. Her commentary was not clear or definitive( "on your left the blue building..."), and had no humor as most good tours do. The other 2 passengers ( from England) were extremely unhappy as well. She never left the driver seat...Not to go search for missing customers (which I did) to accept payment at the end or to open a door for any of us. Inexcusable!!! I have never not tipped a tour guide. This was a first! She had been sick for 3 weeks(which she reminded us several times). My suggestion is that this new owner of the "tour" company, take many tours and learn from the good ones, perhaps hire some experienced tour guides to help her and clean up/improve her equipment. Professionalism is sorely needed.

Cab 58 was difficult to understand & said he was in the back lane of the address but the map showed him across the street. He was upset & said he was leaving. I said fine & called a different company who found me in less than 10 min. This is not the first time I have had issues with Unicity. I have had to give an extra amount of cash because he refused to pickup in the back lane. I won't be using this company again. They have lost my business which is every weekend.

I had landed at Winnipeg Richardson International Airport. I was waiting for my luggage at one of the baggage carousels. While patiently waiting to spot it, there was an ad for Unicity Taxi. It made me instantly smile. It was also fitting. As a Winnipegger, Unicity Taxi was my go-to ride between my home and the airport. It was almost as if it knew that I was in town and needed wheels. I had a rental car in mind. However, if I still lived in Winnipeg, I'd likely go with Unicity Taxi. This city has two major taxi cab companies. I went with Unicity Taxi for personal rides. The other, Duffy's Taxi, was more for work when I had early mornings shifts and the company paid for taxi rides Into the office from Duffy's. Back then, I didn't have a car, so I relied on public transit when it operated. For ridiculously early shifts that started between 5:30 am and 6:30 am, Duffy's got me to work. Unicity refers to Winnipeg after the amalgamation of various municipalities well before I was born. In a way, Winnipeg was far ahead of its time than Toronto. The latter amalgamated more recently in 1998. I didn't have any issues riding with Unicity Taxi. I'd call to get a taxi dispatched to my home. I don't recall waiting for eons for my cab to arrive. Perhaps I lucked out. I had no issues. I never arrived at the airport so late that it stressed me out. It was nice seeing Unicity taxi cabs when I left the airport's main and only terminal, and headed to the rental cars. I still like using taxis than vehicles through ride-sharing apps. I like speaking to humans and annoying the world with my voice than doing everything through an app. I haven't hailed a cab in Winnipeg since I was a resident. However, I'm pleased that Unicity Taxi is alive and kicking. (109)
