Great spot for lunch because you're in and out when time is limited, but not rushed and you leave fulfilled (my sandwiches are usually so big and full of meat/salad that I can only finish half). Here and there I visit the Plantation location for breakfast but this place has gone downhill. All 3 meals were pathetic with grits so firm they came out of bowl like a baseball, omelet with no fluff, plain undercooked potatoes and soggy burrito. The only thing that came out right was the crispy potato pancakes but the waitress brought out the appetizer size when I specifically said the "3 potato pancakes side to start". The waitress had a good personality and attentive until trying to get the bill which she kept forgetting to come back, we had to have waited 20+ min to pay. The place wasn't busy at all having 3 servers working the floor, but she's not quick to get around so that could've been the hold up. Won't go back unless I see customers posting meals as they should be served, which the server should've rejected before bringing to our table. Ordered for 2nd night of Passover.. worked with Jo Ann Rooney in catering.. she was wonderful to work with. She listened to me and did what I asked. When I had a problem with the delivery of one of the items that was missing and one not done correctly, I called her the next day. She listened and said she would send it to corporate. She did just that and called me with a good compensation for the missing and not done well items. On a good note the matzoh ball soup was excellent as was the almond cake! The macaroons were also very tasty. The girl, Tia, who delivered the order was also very, very nice. I highly recommend Too Jays for all catering needs for many years I have used Too Jays and gone into the restaurant as well, with good ambiance... We went here today with a family of 6. Service: Our server was Aaron. He was nice and patient, but did not check in with us as often as I would have hoped as he forgot to bring two items of which we had to have a manager bring to us. He apologized so that was fine. Price: This place was ok with decent prices. We purchased on the way out some pastries that were 15 dollars per pound. That was a little interesting. We were in town for a wedding so one of those purchases you do as a 1 time and not normal life. Cleanliness: My new sister in law said the restroom was clean. So no complaints there. Things like silverware etc are little things I notice, not aren't a big deal for your normal patron. So in that regard, it was standard cleanliness..smudges etc. Paper menus but coffee stains. Atmosphere: Dark wood pub like feel. Seperate area for to go orders and pastries by the pound. Food: Food was fine. Strawberries were fresh. Taste was overall fine. Overall: Experience is fine. This is a review of Toojay's Deli & Bakery in Plantation, FL. A favorite feature of this store is its counter seating area. Sometimes it is a good feeling to come in knowing you have more than one seating option in that dining room tables are available as well as a chance to cozy up to bar style seating at the counter. Makes me want to order a beer with my deli sandwich. I was in on a recent Saturday night and had a lovely server named Brittany who goes the extra mile and has the aforementioned lovely disposition. I put in a drink order asking for lots of ice and a lemon wedge. I had several questions about the grilled cheese feature menu and was about to order one of those Chef creations when I saw the calories posted on the menu. Finally, I opted for a matzo ball soup, Toojay's Classic little taste of Heaven sandwich combining corned beef and pastrami in a single sandwich without the Fries. In lieu of Fries I chose carrots (veggie of the Day). Soup- the matzo Ball- was great as always. TheToojay's Classic really was like eating a little taste of Heaven ... so good and two (2) mustard brands on the counter to try out including Toojay's brand mustard. I didn't much care for the carrots as they appeared to be mini/baby carrots different from the Toojay's carrots I know from among their matzo ball soup ingredients. Those same soup carrots I would have enjoyed more. Brittany even hooked me up with a ToGo cup so I could drink iced tea to my heart's content on the ride home. Defunitedly come here for good solid deli food when you are in the area and when you have time and are relaxed come here, too, as I did. Lady Manager (sorry I do not know her name) is very friendly too. An inexpensive meal that is filling can be had here. You won't be sorry. Get that beer, too! Four stars! read more

Ate at Plantation location for lunch today. I ordered the latches appetizer which comes with bacon, tomatoes and scallions with sour cream. It was burned and impossible to crew. I sent it back and it was replaced with slightly unburned Lancaster. The burnt bacon was from the original plate that I sent back! It was totally an enjoyable meal! I will never be back. They closed the location on Federal in Fort Lauderdale which also was terrible! Sure this will be the next location to close! Reading some of the reviews that were posted on this site, this will be the next one to close. My advice is to try another location si you won't be as disappointed as I was! read more

We went with my father in law and his girlfriend on the last night of our stay in Florida. Best I can say it was good basic food for a reasonable price. I had a cup of soup and a half a sandwich. The cup was the size of a small bowl and the split pea was tasty. The sandwich was very good, tongue on rye. Lots of tasty meat, but the rye fell a little short. I am use to deli rye, dense thin slices. This was thicker sliced and more like a white bread in consistency. It was passable but not what I expect from a deli. The cole slaw which comes with the sandwich was pretty good as was the side of potato salad I shared with my husband. Our server was friendly and extremely attentive. Today our server was obviously overwhelmed and angry. She treated my father and I with such little respect I called her a "b*tch" and asked to see the manager. The manager, Richard, had zero empathy for our experience. I told him to "f*ck off". Not my best moment but it was the appropriate response to his utter lack of care. Never was asked if I needed a refill. Took 30 min to get our food. None of it was hot. The eggs on the Benedict's were cooked solid like a hard boiled egg. Potato's ice cold. Bagel barely toasted and no longer warm. They comped my meal so there's that. But really really bad. Again, hoping it was just a bad day because the menu is great and the bakery looks really good. My friend and I went here for lunch a few days ago. Upon walking in we were warmly greeted and quickly escorted to a table with no wait. It was a booth for two people that was very comfortable and cozy, the floors were clean in the restaurant as were the bathrooms and the rest of the restaurant. Have an absolutely lovely menu with many choices to choose from. There are even some things if you were a vegetarian. Definitely something for everyone. Our server came over to get our drink order in less than two minutes and she was lovely. The drinks were received quickly and the food orders taken quickly as well. It took approximately 15 minutes for the food to come out from the kitchen and when it did it was hot. The portions were nice and the food was tasty. At this point, I am pissed off. You order online so that you can pick up and go not so you can go spend a half hour in a restaurant. so long story short. No acknowledgment of I'm sorry that they literally started making my order the minute I walked in. So with that said with an order that was supposed to be ready at 9:24. This is a traditional deli style restaurant that definitely caters to an older crowd. The food was ok, nothing extraordinary but a place you can find a decent sandwich or standard breakfast. The service is a little slow and more on the less polished side of the service industry. Lunch today was great at this Toojay's. Nestled in The Fountains Shopping Center off University Drive in Plantation, this restaurant is probably our favorite deli. This is just one of the many TooJay's in Broward County that we have tried. Seven of us met for a leisurely lunch on this weekday afternoon. Our waiter was quick, precise and efficient. We ordered a variety of meals from their versatile menu. My favorite option is the Soup and Salad with an add-on of grilled chicken. The soup I love the most is the Chicken Noodle Matzah Ball. The house salad included in this combo was plentiful and delicious. I would have liked to see a little more variety and less lettuce but it was still tasty. Another combo which one of my friends ordered was the Soup with a Half Sandwich. Others ordered a variety of beautiful salads. Our orders came out within a reasonable amount of time. I started out with a bowl of chicken noodle soup, it hit the spot. There definitely was no shortage of chicken or noodles in it. For dinner I had the chicken capri, more like chicken picatta , chicken with a lemon and butter sauce with capers plus artichoke and mushrooms. It was served with baby carrots and mashed potatoes with gravy. It wasn't bad overall for a deli restaurant, but definitely not as good as what you get at an Italian restaurant restaurant. There is a take out deli counter in the front of the shop and the spacious dining room is in the back. I had turkey this time and my wife had tongue. We both did their soup and sandwich special, a cup of soup (it was more like a bowl) and a half a sandwich. My only complaint was the rye bread, it was too fluffy and not dense enough like a real Jewish rye. Each sandwich came with coleslaw and we also got some potato salad. They were pretty good. A perfect meal that does not over stuff the belly. My dad had the egg salad stuffed tomato and his girlfriend had the stuffed cabbage appetizer as a main. All the food was perfect as was the service.
