Also the color I chose was different from the one in the bottle, I told her no I don't like the color it's different she insisted that it was the same and that it was the lighting. Reviewing from a few months ago.. Called days before to make an appointment with a specific nail tech for a simple full set, black coffin acrylic nails. Everything was set and my appointment rolled around. The lady I requested ahead of time finished applying the acrylic and shaping in a timely manner. Business started to pick up and customers came in requesting pedicures. The lady I made an appointment with passed me off to some other male worker. I was fine with it because all that was left was black gel polish, no design, filing, or extra stuff. He began filing and buffing the acrylic that had already been buffed, as well as my cuticles, absolutely destroying my fingers. Then started applying the polish, getting it all over my fingers. I started to get frustrated because it was as if a child was trying to paint my nails. It wasnt until he finished painting the black gel (before the top coat) where he took a tissue and tried wiping the SOMEWHAT cured black polish off. He didnt explain what was going on at all so I finally stood up and explained that I would pay for what had been applied, but I no longer wanted to receive the service. They could not understand that I was upset since my appointment had been switched with another nail tech who was obliterating my nails. After explaining why I was upset, ANOTHER employee grabbed my card and tried sitting me down to finish my nails. In the end, I had to grab my card and leave as they were refusing to listen to me. They took me in right away. I had a pedicure that was ok but when I went to get my gel nails filled I saw how dirty and extremely dusty the salon is. It is really bad. Technician used recycled foil on my nails, I mentioned that the station was very dusty and she did nothing to wipe it down. I know that with a nail salon you expect dust but this place looks like it's been like this for a very long time. Pieces of nails on items. The towels are very old and assuming they started out as white now very gray, the solution to dissenfect utensils a green color, the machine to cure nails was so dusty and stained. The restroom had no seat protectors, used paper towels on the floor. Also there was no licenses posted anywhere. One strange thing also there is a ATM machine in the salon. Tips are to be cash only. Needs a very good professional deep cleaning. I will never return. read more

I really wanted to like this place. However the French nails that I got they didn't manage to clean the white streaks left after. I had to go home and clean them up myself. They cut to much around my cuticle that some of it bleed. They charged me 40 dollars for the gel nails that I got. There are less expensive nail salons that do a better job in the area. read more

I got a full set in June and two weeks later they started to break off. Unfortunately, that was not the case, it was worse. As soon as I got there the lady was rushing to finish my nails. I showed her a picture of how I wanted them and they looked nothing like the picture. There were bubbles on the nails and I asked to get it fixed, she gave me attitude and said "you can't even tell" I asked her again to fix it so she "did" to my surprise she charged me for "fixing" the bubbles!!! I spent $75 on these nasty nails which I still need to go get fixed somewhere else. Not only was I left with nasty nails I also got to see bad hygiene. One of the employees was sneezing all over the place and picking her nose. I kept staring at her hoping that she would get the hint but nope, she continued to pick her nose. Then a lucky customer came in and the nose picker started to work on the girls nails WITHOUT washing her hands!!! DISGUSTING!!!! Also, one of the employees had her puppy running around licking peoples feet...Poor puppy! This was the worst experience of my life and will never return. Wow! This place never ceases to amaze me. I have been getting my nails done by the same person Emily for over 22 years and she represents this place well. Everyone is so professional and they go above and beyond to make things right and to make you happy with your service. I really feel for them because of so many abusive people that they have to serve. I hate to do this because I love the ladies here and they used to do such a good job. I'm hesitant to blame the quality of the work because I think a lot of it is the products. Ive been coming here since top gel opened and I swear they have not re-stocked products once. All of the gel polishes seem old and dry and they hardly have any selection when it comes to normal nail polish- they are all Mis matched off brands that also look very old. Anyway, after the last few gel manicures at top gel I left very pleased with service and quality of the manicure however the gel barley lasts a week. By day 4 both of my pointer fingers completely chipped off and the entire manicure looked horrible. They really need to re-stock with higher quality, fresh, products. This small but efficient nail salon is close to my neighborhood, so I walked in a few times to check it out and get some services. The store has been redecorated and is clean and bright, with new tables and chairs and a large selection of lacquer and gel polishes. I love it when a salon has a great selection of colors. There are many services offered, but I usually get a gel manicure or pedicure to try a salon out. The gel manicure is good. Most of the technicians are careful to coat the whole nail and the colors can be amazing. The pedicure was decent, if average. You have to pay to upgrade to get any kind or treatment beyond the basic soak-cut-sand-polish. I keep going back as it is close by, but you may ask, why only 3 stars? Easy...price is higher than other local places, the persistent attempts to add on costs and a sometimes sour demeanor. This is a decent place that is clean and quick, and in my experience with salons, sometimes that can be hard to find. read more

Ok so I'll start with the good, I walked in without an appointment and someone was able to work on my nails right away. I got a full set, with tips because I wanted an oval shape. The lady who worked on my nails was very nice and made good conversation, the place also seemed very clean and had a nice atmosphere. The bad: Since I was getting acrylic they could have just used regular polish but insisted on doing gel, which is of course more expensive. The way she shaped my nails was not at all consistent and she made the acrylic WAY too thick. She also was quite sloppy and left a bunch of glue on my fingers. I don't pay to have my nails done, just to have to come home and spend an additional 30 minutes scraping glue off. I would have had her clean my hands before I left, but since I didn't have an appointment she started on someone else's pedicure before my nails were even done curing. I did not tip her a full 20% like when I get good service. Even still it ended up costing me $45 for nails that I'm not satisfied with. At a glance they look nice enough, but close up its easy to see the poor quality. I will not be returning again. read more

I decided to try this place after driving by it so many times. I usually go to another place because I'm pretty loyal to my nail person but she went on vacation and I needed my nails done for Valentine's Day! I didn't get the names of the ladies who did my feet and hands but they both did a great job. Their massage chairs are also really strong, which is nice because I like to actually feel the massage. The place is new so everything is clean. The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is because in the area it's somewhat expensive compared to their competitors. So the first time I came here it was pretty busy but, even though it was packed, I got a chair within 10-15min. Anything after that and I think I would have gone somewhere else. Dark Purple- I was just getting a fill that day so I got in and out pretty quickly. But I got drunk the night after, and broke a nail so I came back the following day and she redid my nail for free. White 45$- These were a new set. It lasted me about 13 days. They started lifting up from the cuticles. Dark Red 20$- These were a fill. I told her that I wanted to make the ring finger a little different, so she suggested to try the gold foil. Dark Blue 45$- The picture is about a week and a half old in the picture. I loved the design on my ring finger, that she free handed. Light Pink 45$- I showed her a picture I liked and she did exactly that. They were a brand new set. They are all super polite, welcoming, and they love making conversation. And some of the ladies have a GREAT sense of humor. Also a PLUS, Starbucks is like right there. I hate to do this, but I felt compelled to as this matter is quite bothersome for perfectionists like myself (Yes, I know nothing is perfect but it could be close to it). I figured I'd stop by my neighborhood nail salon on a super bowl Sunday morning to get a nail repair and a fill. Now, if it wasn't for my broken thumbnail from the night before, I would have never considered this place as I am a regular at a different nail salon. Unfortunately, my nail technician is usually booked and emergencies such as the one I mentioned above makes it difficult to be seen the same day. As a desperate attempt, I stumbled upon Top Gel Nails as a walk-in customer. I was greeted and seated almost immediately. The nail technician, Lily, was the one who serviced me. I asked for an acrylic overlay with gel polish, in addition to a much needed cutdown. At first, everything went well until it was time to repair my broken thumbnail. I broke my thumbnail at the base of my thumb (ouch) but it was nothing unsalvageable. She did a great job on all my other nails except for the one on my thumb. It is so lumpy and crooked! I respectfully pointed out the flaw and asked for it to be even. Did I receive what I asked for? Nope. She hurried and poorly filed away. In the end, it is still crooked which I do not understand because my nails are natural. And no, it is not because of my finger or hand "doing like that." This novice error is due to the fact of erroneous mending. Lily, did not enclose the fracture properly. As a result, my thumbnail now lays rested towards the left. I did not want to be rude, so I left unsatisfied. Throughout the day, I find myself constantly running my finger across the the repair and all I could feel is the lumpiness. What's worst? This dissymmetry could even be seen from across a dining table! I was charged $38 for mediocre service; a nail repair and fill with a solid color gel polish. Expensive much! Despite my dissatisfaction, I still tipped her $7. The salon itself is tidy and well-kept, but, unfortunately, I would not return. Do not "cheat" on your nail technician or you'll be paying the price like I did. Never again! Update: The "repaired" nail broke 5 days later. Went back to Top Gel Nails to have it fixed. Within 48 hours, my thumbnail completely broke off while putting on my shoes. Highly disappointed and would not recommend! read more

It had been a few years since I've been to this salon, but since I saw that it was under new management I decided to give it another try. Big mistake! The place was still dirty, no customers, and the service I received was horrible. Halfway through I wanted to leave, but it was already too late. The lady that did my nails tore the acrylic off with a tool, ripping my real nail. I told her stop because she was ruining my nails. Then she soaked my whole hand in alcohol instead of wrapping them in foil. Then she proceeded to file my real nails so thin that I could bend them like a piece of paper. My nails still hurt the day after. She applied dip powder to my nails, so thinly that it's translucent, and she tried to blame it on the color that I chose instead of adding more layers of the dip powder. My skin was stuck to all of my nails because she got the dip powder everywhere. Then she tried to use a tool to file down between my skin and the nail and she kept burning my skin and I had to have her stop. The pedicure wasn't good either, she filed my nails down so short that she made my skin bleed and the overall pedicure was not good. The lady that did my nails seemed irritated the whole time. I'm just really disappointed I wasted my money there. I will never go back. read more

She got a manicure a few weeks ago and the technician laughingly told her TO HER FACE that she had gotten "fat." She made fun of the surgical scar on her leg, saying it was "ugly" and to "not show it to anyone at her new job." She made rude comments about my friend's outfit, saying it was "cheap looking." Not to mention, she gave her a horrible pedicure; a first grader could have done better. Her toenails had to be re-painted because the technician did such a bad job, and might I add NO apology was given. These people don't know how to properly wax; they leave huge patches of hair behind. Speechless. I'm editing my review right now because I saw a lot of people who had similar experiences with me, so I wanted to explain a little bit more about my suffer. I went in just to do a nail takeoff, and the lady scared me with the way she did it. I did not have any fake nails on, I only had my gel extension(did it in Asia). Obviously this Vietnamese lady does not even know what is it. She roughly using the fake nail the take off my nails, SO SO SO RUDE. It hurts so much, and it starts to bleed right after. She did not give me alcohol or any protection after my nail is bleeding. She just kept using the machine (after I told her that she needs a machine) to remove my other nails. All powders went on my bleeding nail. I have to even ask for the alcohol. Also I have to say that my nails were not completely removed, there are still some gel on it. I always get my nails done in Asia, I definitely know the correct procedures of a manicure and how to remove gel extension. She just said some random sorries which I do not feel her apology as she still kept convincing me to do a "special powder that will make my nails harder) GUESS WHAT, after this poor manicure, she tires to charge me full $20. I do not wanna argue so I paid first. Then I said I need to talk to the manager, the lady who did my manicure said the manager wasn't in store. They even refused me when I ask for the phone number of manager. Eventually I got my $20 back with some attitude from them, but I don't care, I don't even wanna waste a cent here. She just opened her own salon in Land Park, and I'm happy to drive the distance to visit her at Top Gel Nails. Sarah does a great job on my nails and eyebrows. I always get lots of compliments! She's professional, kind, and a real perfectionist. You want that in a nail lady! The salon is clean, modern, and offers brand-new massage chairs and comfortable leather chairs for clients at each station. They have a huge selection of gel polish. Sarah is conscientious about only stocking the best-quality products that work well for her customers. I'm a lazy customer. I typically only visit the stores and shops in Natomas, but I'm willing to drive to Top Gel to continue seeing Sarah. That says it all. read more

Got my acrylic nails done a day & literally chipped off. Next day I go in a few minutes opening & the lady says nobody is available to do acrylic yet she's there by herself very useless.
