Guys came out to do a chimney inspection from gas logs to a wood burner both guys were fantastic

I bought a house with a huge stone chimney that hadn't bee taken care of for years. Top Hap came out on time and they were very polite and careful. They really did a great job for me. I was happy when handing them the check for a job well done. I had a challenging job of running two 30-40 foot liners in an old building. I had previously had a local HVAC company attempt the same project. They tried but failed to get the job done. I found them very unknowledgeable and was frustrated they wasted my time and money with a job they said they could do. After that mess I called Top Hat. Bill and Joe assessed my chimneys and told me exactly what was possible and gave me several options in order to execute my end goals. I could tell they were experienced. I found them very knowledgeable. They remained positive despite the 90 degree day on a black rubber roof. Joe did some beautiful brick and mortar work even in a place that no one ever sees. They cleaned up. They left no trash. I was very pleased with the work they did. Having hired a handful of different contractors you don't find many people that operate in this way unfortunately. If I had more jobs for them to do I would hire them in a heartbeat. read more

I hired Top Hat after dissatisfied with another chimney company. After diagnosing our pipe for our gas fireplace was too short, they added another pipe to make it up to code. We were having soot in the house after using the fireplace before Top Hat fixed the proble. Other owners obviously hadn'd used it too much. Bill thoroughly cleaned the fireplace for about half hour. Other company spent ten minutes at most. Very satisfied with price, service and personnel! Would definitely use them again! read more

Unfortunately the service from this vendor is abysmal. We had an appointment today for 1:45 PM to clean and inspect our chimney as well as repair the pull chain on the damper. I was available from 1:30 PM on. Contractor showed up at 1:00, 45 minutes early. So as not to make him wait my teenage daughter showed him the chimney so he could start until I was available. He did not clean the chimney, he did not repair the chain. He did have my daughter write him a check for $65 and to hold her our chimney is 2 feet too short it would cost $2000 to correct. Our house is over 60 years old and the height of the house nor chimney has changed in 60 years. He left by 1:20. When I called at 1:30 and explained that I was home and needed him to return to complete the cleaning for which we had paid the wife apologized and had her husband, the chimney sweep, call me right back. When I answered my phone he started screaming and swearing and calling my daughter names. It was actually frightening. I highly recommend you do not invite this vendor into your home. read more
