Holy c*** where do I start? I haven't been to Fresno in…read moredecades since I moved to Los Angeles, California. I came here to visit family and friends. Let me start this review by saying this place shouldn't even have any Stars. This place should be condemned. Place looks abandoned. The staff in the front office were rude as hell. When you ask them a question they look at you ask if you own them money. A woman was arguing with the staff at the front desk about her reservation that didn't show up on the computer. She was so pissed off she stormed out of the lobby. This place is like skid row. Homeless people. Garbage and Prostitutes everywhere. I parked my car in the shabby parking lot and as I was getting my luggage from my car that woman that was arguing with the front desk staff walked up to me and asked if her and her friend can stay in my room since there are two king size beds in each room and it will be fun. I told her no and she walked off to the next guest that just pulled up. She fed him the same line she told me. The man told her "It would be the Christian thing to do." She called her friend that was lying down on a dirty sleeping bag on the side of the building and the three of them walked into the building. I got my luggage and made my way to the doors of the building. A homeless man was sleeping on the side of the walkway he looked dead but he was breathing. Just like other reviews rugs are filthy and the hallway smell like Cigarettes and Marijuana. You can hear babies crying extra loud, trash in the hallways and people argue very loudly in their rooms making violent threats to each other. A baby in diapers was walking up and down the hallway waving at me with no supervision. I found my room and as I was opening my door, the person in the next room heard and rushed out of his room asking for a light. He had either a rolled cigarette or a joint? I asked if he knew who's baby that was wondering the hallway, he glanced and walked back into his room. I went back to my car to get the rest of my stuff and on my way back to my room a very skinny young woman was holding the baby with two other little ones next to her. She had a fresh shiner on her left eye and a nasty scratch on her forehead. Looked like she had been crying. I went inside my room while getting settled in i heard pounding from the hallway. I opened my door to see kids kicking doors and running down the hallway and out the exit door laughing. A few minutes later they did it to my door a few times. I called to report it to the front desk but nobody picked up the phone at 4:15 PM nobody answered the phone. Just than i heard those kids again in the hallway. I looked through the peephole in the door and seen one of those kids getting ready to kick the door across from me. I opened my door real fast and told them to stop what they are doing.they were quite. I told them the security camera had them on tape and know what room they live in and all I have to do is make one phone call to the office and they wouldbein big trouble. I think that scared them. I had no trouble out of them. My room smelled like musty old cigarettes and marijuana and I booked a non-smoking room. This place had dust everywhere. From the headboard on the bed to the pictures on the walls alongwiththedead flieson the window seal. I went to the Dollar Tree and bought some cleaning supplies (Lysol, Fabuloso, and Room Freshener) I wiped everything down walls, bed headboard, TV, bathroom, even cleaned the remote control that was hardcore filthy. I used room spray for the curtains because they smelled really bad. This place looked nothing like the picture off the internet. The bathroom/shower was nasty. The shower was stained and had gravel like little rocks in it and dirty just like the toilet with it's wobbly seat. The air conditioner blew out very little cold air. This place reminded me of those rent by the week run down places where families piled up in a little hotel room. My only saving grace was that I wasn't there too long, just two days. When I was checking out after a miserable time I asked for my $100 dollar deposit that I gave them and the man at the front desk was going through envelopes trying to find mine. Kept asking for my name over again and than said he couldn't find it and if I did give them a deposit. Getting pissed off i told him check again. After I told him that with a look on my face he magically found my deposit. I would not recommend this place to anyone who values their life and their families lives.

I would give it a -100 stars. Roaches everywhere. Would not stay even if they paid me $1000. Avoid…read moreat all cost! It's a health hazard.

Overview: affordable for mammoth, cool people, and decent housing…read more ---- I decided to solo travel for snowboarding and booked a few days here, having no expectations and never having stayed at a hostel before in America. The process of picking up the keys was easy, there's a lobby area on a separate building and a bulletin board with an envelope and your name on it with instructions and your keys. The parking lot is pretty tight but doable and they have a motel in a separate building to the hostel. The hot tub is only for motel guests tho. The hostel has different room options with the cheapest one being a mixed dorm with 6 beds, I think I paid around $50 per night and it really depends on the time of the season for price fluctuations. They have more private rooms for more expensive which is a nice option if you are staying with someone you know, however the walls are quite thin here. In the private room, it was located next to the kitchen and you can practically hear everything through them, so not much privacy in that regard. I've met really cool people here and had a great time getting to know some of them. I even saw a person from my first trip on my second one as well! I also got to snowboard with some of the people in the dorm I shared which was awesome. You meet people of all walks of life here. The kitchen situation was straightforward, there are 2 fridges and you label your stuff with a sticky label and a sharpie with your name and checkout date. There are also communal dishes and utensils and a microwave, but so stove/oven so be prepared! I did see a mouse on the very first night I stayed there too but it was one of the cute small ones hahah. There's one bigger personal bathroom on the first floor and then the shared ones upstairs. The location is also prime for walking to the gondola and it's near some great restaurants. ---- Overall: my new go-to spot for staying in Mammoth, great for solo travelers or friends who want somewhere affordable to stay at, many pros to this place that outweigh its cons

The place is clean and well-kept, with a nice kitchen that guests can use, which is a big plus. Rooms are simple--some with bunk beds, others private. We booked our own room, which worked out well and was a good value for the price. Important note: don't leave food in your car. A bear had ripped into someone's vehicle for food while we were there, so always store it properly. Overall, a clean, budget-friendly stay with handy kitchen facilities--great for a short stop in Mammoth.
