First time to an actual shop of theirs- Poor mid day selection for a Saturday? The clerk said they had a busy morning and were waiting for a delivery to arrive around 3:30pm. (Sounds like they get their goods from the main location, same as grocery stores and other coffee shops..) Bottom line? Catch em when they got em! May not be worth the drive, so get em from your local coffee shop if it's more convenient. My favs are the mapple bar and apple fritter. read more

Just finished up my chocolate frosted cake donut and it was perfect - not to dense or oily and the frosting wasn't waxy at all...just right! But one of the hidden treasures at Top Pot are their espresso drinks - hand-crafted and not watered-down (like the big chain coffee places in the area). They truly have some talented baristas! One more thing, they validate parking in the garage below, so if you can't find street parking just pull into the underground garage next to the store. read more

In the interest of brevity I'll save the diatribe and instead list the facts: 1) a cup of coffee made the same way I get at Starbucks or Ladro costs quite a bit more at Top Pot 2) the donuts are better than grocery store-quality but worse than Krispy Kreme, Dunkin Donuts, and most bakeries 3) the lines during peak hours are long and the service is NOT fast (Starbucks has fast service down pat, and even Ladro is quicker!) 4) the taste and quality of my coffee wasn't even as good as Starbucks (which I consider as lower quality than Ladro) 5) The hours - this place closes when I get off from work, so I can never catch them open. What's the point of closing at 5:30? 6) The atmosphere is the complete opposite of what you'd want: noisy, industrial, busy - the opposite of what you see at most other venues. I lived in Belcarra across the street for a year and went to Top Pot several times in that span. I was not thrilled by wait times longer than Starbucks, at a price more than Starbucks, with a coffee that didn't taste as good as Starbucks.... and I'm not even a Starbucks fan. It's just the local standard by which most coffee places are judged. The donuts might be their main draw, and they are good - but very overpriced, and they're not even the best donuts around. The only reason I'm not giving this place 1 star is because when they actually do have donuts in stock, they're good. But unfortunately, the vast majority of time they are out of almost everything by 11am. It boggles my mind when they have 3 people working behind the counter, and no donuts to serve. Sadness. There is perhaps no disappointment like that of the first bite of a hyped up donut that lacks freshness. I had quite literally been on a donut quest, trying virtually every place within a reasonable distance, when it suddenly occurred that there was an untested Top Pot within walking distance! So this location is totally cute, couple of tables outside, lots of seating inside; plus it's bright yet cozy feeling- complete with a library wall for style points. Counter help was super friendly, willing to discuss her favs, greeted several customers by name and knew their order (I love a place that does good by their regulars) AND she was super sweet about my order...which included all types of specific foolishness about a to go purchase for later and a to be eaten now combination on a plate...blah blah blah. Customer service here was fantastic and they're busy! So the deal breaker? The donuts:( They all looked so pretty too, but do not be fooled. All four of my donuts were dry and stale tasting, my blueberry fritter had an unpleasant heavy grease taste and was waaaay overdone. Shockingly, I didn't finish it. That's dramatic for me, a pure sugar fiend. My glazed twist thing was a little better, but still not the light pillow of sweet glazed freshness that makes me want to holler. I think the cake based donuts were the best bet, not because they were any fresher, but because the staleness went a little bit better with the tasty coffee and the grease factor was reduced. I was saddened this visit. I can't imagine how much worse it would have been had I come by in the afternoon! I didn't finish any of the donuts I selected. People LOVE this place though...so much business! It really looked like everyone in the downtown area came by to snag a dozen for the office. Pretty donuts, ugly taste. Even if someone swore that I had somehow managed to choose the four WORST donuts on the menu, I still wouldn't really be interested in a repeat visit. Oh well. read more

Man oh man the disappointment!!!!! I went to Top Pot having heard rave reviews and needless to say my excitement was at a 10- imagine my dismay when my glazed twist tasted of oil more than sweet doughy goodness- ok, maybe the cake donut would be better...um, nope. I almost cried as I ate the chocolate frosted cake donut that tasted as though it was made two days ago at best. The coffee was eh- on a good note, the staff were super friendly and the shop in Bellevue was super cute- it's a great place to hang out or even get donuts for the office- the latter because these donuts could be in my office and I wouldn't even be tempted to eat one. read more

Yeah, of course, and maybe you're asking the wrong guy because I'm pretty sure there's no such thing as a bad doughnut. After we paid I realized why the donuts are not priced. If you knew what it was going to cost you'd find somewhere else to eat your lard fried dough and sugar. On a positive note, the chocolate and maple bars have got to be at least 10" long...and no I can't say that with a straight face. I'll come back to try one of these, but that's it. The doughnuts here tastes the same as any other Top Pot location (as it should), but getting to this particular shop is DIFFICULT. Since it's in downtown bellevue vicinity, street parking is very hard to find. Thus, Top Pot will validate up to 1 hour of parking at the garage that is connected to the building. I guess this is fine for those who merely want to enjoy a doughnut and coffee, but for me I'd like to do work at a a doughnut shop and not have to be timed. So annoying. I'd come back if I know I wasn't staying for a long time, but if I wanted to sit down, relax, work, enjoy a doughnut, work, enjoy a coffee, and relax I would go elsewhere. read more

I loved this place. So good...so very very good. I got one chocolate glazed and one custard filled doughnut. These things were straight up spectacular. The custard doughnut was melt in your mouth fantastic. The chocolate glaze was every bit as good as you would think. Calories be damned!!! If you're going to splurge...splurge. Get 2 or 3 and block out the fact that your going to have to swim a few extra laps to burn off those delicious fat pills. read more

I actually thought that the doughnuts were very good. Not source on the coffee but they are hiring a new barista so maybe that would improve the coffee experience. I had the maple frosted chocolate doughnut not once but both visits and it was that good. I wanted to try the maple bar but I just couldn't get myself to try it. I also had the blueberry bulls eye which was good but not as good as the maple frosted. I would definitely not be able to live near this place or I would definitely always be bulked up for the winter but since it was a vacation I didn't think two visits in two days would kill me. read more

I am a donut snob and go out of my way to get top pot donuts. However when I went to QFC in Maple Valley to pick up a dozen maple bars, the experience was less than great. The Maple frosting is what makes the pastry so tasty but today the maple frosting cracked and fell off in pieces when I tried to eat one in the car. I have never had that happen before. Have they changed their frosting recipe. I will try it one more time and then will look for maple bars elsewhere if this is the new normal. read more

Great selection of donuts. Everything I tried so far has been pretty good (nothing out of this world, but pretty good). Great deal if you get a dozen donuts ($17.99 and you can pick any kind you like), otherwise it's a bit on the expensive side. Coffer selection is a bit limited, but they have the basics. Not a great place if you are looking to hang out during a weekend morning or afternoon (there are some better places around), but definitely great if you want to grab a box of donuts on the go! read more

the parking was a bit hard for us to find initially, but Top Pot Bellevue is clean, open, and lets in a great deal of natural light due to their floor to ceiling windows (gotta love it). They seem to sell out of options quickly....granted I did go around 2pm, so I wasn't expecting everything. This place is unfair. Just. Plain. Unfair. Thankfully, since I actually live on the East Coast, my newfound addiction to Top Pot's cake doughnuts cannot be enabled. Forget the glazed, puffy looking doughnuts. I won't lie to you; the other reviewers have it right. If you want an awesome glazed doughnut, go to Krispie Kreme. If you want the real deal cake doughnut, go to Top Pot. I highly suggest the Maple Frosted Cake, Chocolate Frosted Cake, the Double Trouble, the Chocolate Boa, and the Maple Frosted Chocolate Cake. Mmm mmm good. By the end of our ten day stay in the area, we were trying to figure out ways to make it to Top Pot before they would close. I doubt I'm letting the cat out of the bag when I say we visited this place enough times, at different times of day, to say that you shouldn't come here with minutes to spare before closing to get your doughnut fix. I love Top Pot donuts. The Bellevue location is nice and big with lots of seating to sit and hang out. Their Ovaltine latte's are super yum, not too sweet. I went in the other day around 10:30 and they were already sold out of everything but jelly filled and one cake donut, which I snatched up for my daughter and had to get myself a jelly filled. Not the donut I would have chosen to sit and eat leasurely with my latte. They said they were getting more donuts in, but didn't know when. Their delivery had arrived w/in twenty minutes. I stopped in here for a latte this July and the barista was the rudest person I've had the displeasure of interacting with at any kind of cafe. She seemed entirely annoyed by my presence, and was constantly looking away to talk with her coworkers in the middle of my order. She was very rude and had a terrible attitude. I chalked it up to a bad experience, but avoided this place for a while while, and decided to come back this morning. AGAIN, I had the RUDEST barista check me out. How does this place manage to hire people with the most attitude??? The lady was acting like I walked in and spit on her. I was trying to order a donut and she's responding as if I gravely insulted her family or something. At this point, the service is so ridiculously bad I would rather drive 30 minutes out of the way to get a worse donut than go here again. I love the old fashioned glazed donuts. It's so good, a little too good. How does it compare to Krispy Kreme's glazed? I can't say one is better than the other. It's different but good on it's own merit. I haven't had a Top Pot glazed fresh from the oven yet to give a good comparison. But I will say this though, you can take your time enjoying one. Krispy Kreme will melt in your mouth in 5 seconds and it's over. With that said, you can't go wrong with Top Pot old fashion donuts. Take your time eating your donut--have a drink of their coffee while you're reading the paper. At this location you can validate the stub from the connected indoor lot to park free for up to an hour. read more

Seattle hates fat. Not only does everything have to be local and organic (that I can support, if I could afford it) but they went and took out all the fat! How is anything supposed to taste good? Have you noticed how hard it is to find an ice cream shop? A patisserie? I had to find gelato at Safeway (Safeway! in Bellevue in case you're wondering who the heck would have a gelato shop in a lower-end grocery store). Thank goodness there are a few places out there that couldn't get along without some good fat, and this is one of them. Apparently, they went the route that occasionally, someone living in this fat-deprived city is going to cave, and if they're going to cave, they might as well do it in style and go all out on the most extravagant doughnut they'd ever seen. It'll be a little pricey, because people in Seattle buy one, not a dozen. They have doughnuts with names like 'pink feather boa' and the like, and they're quite pretty, and the fanciest doughnuts I've ever seen. Oh, and they taste good too. At first I didn't want to know that one finally made it's way to Bellevue, too temping (2 years here and look what's happening to me, I'm turning into a Seattleite! This place seemed to be just right this last overcast and drizzling weekend. Waking up at noon and seeking a late breakfast of coffee and doughnut was something I needed and deserved! It is linked into bottom of some other building, but has visible storefront. However the parking lot is the shambles of some dead bank parking lot across the street. Not a big deal since I live within general walking distance. Not sure it has all the charm of Seattle location(s), but it'll do. As stated many times, the doughnuts are just right on sweet. I got double trouble and it was light sweet chocolate cake texture. But, thick ...not too moist or dry. Frosting was light, but a nice compliment. Tie that in with well balanced mocha, and you're on your way to a nice morning (at 1pm). P.S. I came in at 8am which is not so late they would be completely out of any one type of doughnut. What is wrong with the world when there are no crullers at your local dunk hole?! The girl was nice. The bottled OJ was good. My friend said her mocha was just warm. My chocolate bar was satisfactory. The chocolate was rich for doughnut glaze. I have never been to a top pot, as they do not have any where I live, but I think they seriously need to put crullers on their menu. The French know their pastries. Time to adopt! We heard nothing but good things about Top Pot, and while it's good, unfortunately it hasn't seemed to live up to the hype. The doughnuts are good, but honestly I prefer the Frost more than Top Pot. Overall favorites seemed to be their filled doughnuts, folks we've brought here thought the cake doughnuts/fritters were merely "ok". Coffee isn't bad, tried an Ovaltime mocha a couple times, but wasn't very warm and was somewhat weak. The place itself seems like a nice comfy place to go hang out and spend an hour or two reading the paper. The doughnuts here are pretty good. Their plain old-fashioned and cake doughtnuts are relatively light and just a little crispy on the outside and they're not greasy. And they make a mean soy ovaltine latte. My problem with this place is the atmosphere. The bookshelves filled with old hardcovers are a nice touch, but that's where it ends. The rest of the decor is cold and industrial, not cozy and inviting. The acoustics are terrible and the music is atrocious and too loud. Those factors combined with large numbers of small children milling around on weekend mornings make it unbearable for sitting around for any length of time. There's no hang-out factor whatsoever. And to reiterate what others have said - please clean up the crumbs! Yuck. read more
