I can highly recommend TopKick Martial Arts - South Riding for their after school curriculum. Two years ago, my child needed a change to a more "inclusive" and structured setting. I reached out to my community for recommendations, and TopKick was their number one choice. Since enrolling, my child has thrived. He loves his Tae Kwon Do classes and loves the all of the fun play time. The notes they send home with him to tell him what a wonderful person he is just warms my heart! My other younger child, who goes along on the regular "Parents night out" events at TopKick has now been enrolled and TopKick already treats her like facility as if she's been going there for years. Oh and how could I possible forget to mention Summer Camp!! In addition to maintaining some discipline in the summer with Taekwondo classes during the week, TopKick's summer camp is never-ending adventure all week with fun weekly themes, and included in the tuition is field trips to fun places. Great place for the whole family. My son has been attending Top Kick South Riding for just over a year and still enjoys going. Having fun and learning martial arts. He attends both the after school program and will attend summer camp again this year per HIS request. The entire staff is excellent and very personable. They ALL know how to work with kids to make them succeed. The after school program is fun for the kids but they also make it easy on the parents. Some days when schools are closed, Top Kicks offers full day coverage. They have also offered full day coverage on unscheduled school closures... I.e. Snow days. They also made pick up easy. I text before I arrive and they have my son ready by the time I arrive. I don't even have to get out of the car. As for Mom, I have enrolled in the KUT kick boxing class... Another great program. Again great instructors. Encouraged to give it your all but encourage to rest if you need to. After three weeks, I am seeing and feeling the difference. read more

I'm truly glad to have enrolled my four year son at TopKick! Not only are the Masters and instructors very knowledgeable in their techniques and skills, they have the ability to transfer that knowledge with great ease and fun to someone as young a four year old. The institution is also very professional, where they have actual ceremonies scheduled for one to receive their belt, whether it be your first belt or any belt thereafter. The staff has been amazing! They have never hesitated in answering any of my questions (always done with a smile) and most importantly they have made every effort to accommodate our situation in everyway possible. My main reason to enroll my son was for him to build on his focus and in just a few short weeks, I see where he is not only more focused at TopKick but also in his regular Montessori classroom. We love South Riding Top Kick Martial Arts. The location is terrific and the facility attractive, new, clean and spacious. The instructors are always courteous, kind, clear, encouraging and fun. You can tell they really enjoy working with kids and adults. South Riding Top Kick provides a very safe environment particularly for children. The facility uses windows in the front and back of the building, in doors and the interior walls so that parents can see everything going on while the facility is open. There are always lots of people in the facility including students, numerous instructors and staff, and parents. Additionally, there are multiple female instructors and staff present. My 4 year old loves going to Top Kick. His class is very interactive, high energy. Instructors make it fun learning environment and it's a good experience for him being new to Martial Arts. He's learning something new in every class. He goes two times a week for half hour session. Place itself is nice and clean, open environment with glass windows. I can see him through the windows and doors from waiting area while he's learning. Their entire staff is very friendly and helpful. Classes do get packed and busy on most days. I would highly recommend it to anyone who would like to join. if you are not sure you can always try out their trial sessions as well and see it for yourself. I want to take the time to write a personal review of the TopKick facility (South Riding), that my daughter recently started attending. The professionalism that is displayed is top notch. The instructors, the front end staff and everyone that I have had the chance to met and talk with are very genuine and sincere. My daughter is grasping the techniques that are taught. When she is has trouble with something being taught, the instructors make sure that she knows the correct way and it never made to feel bad. The confidence she has displayed since starting is incredible and I look forward to seeing her progress nicely. I can see why this place is always jumping with kids and adults too. My 6 year old son has been attending TopKick's after school program for about a month and he loves it! TopKick provides Taekwondo lessons twice a week as part of their after school program--my son looks forward to these lessons. TopKick's after school program is well-organized. Also, everyone on the TopKick staff is friendly and polite--really! Last year, my son went to the aftercare program provided by his elementary school. My son used to complain that it was boring and asked me to pick him up early all the time. This year, we chose TopKick for after school and we are so glad! My son is happy with TopKick and we also think it's cute when he will sometimes answer a question with "Yes, Sir!" or "Yes, Ma'am!". :) read more

My daughter was recommended to join at Top kick by a family friend. Earlier my daughter used to be very distracted and restless. When she joined I was told by various people (both in and outside Top kick) that it would improve her focus, memory and concentration. It's been almost 3 months now since she joined, and I must say, I really found all of the above to be absolutely true. Apart from that, she has been doing great at school, her grades have improved and she is doing all of her homework in a very organized way. We love TopKick! We love their after school and summer camp programs. My son attended the after school program at Broadlands last year and we were so excited to find out that there was a TopKick in our new neighborhood of South Riding. My son has been attending the summer camp for two weeks at South Riding and will be attending the after school program there this year. Everyone at South Riding has been very warm and welcoming. They check in to make sure my son is adapting well and making a good transition. The facility is very clean and organized and the staff is amazing! We love TopKick. We've been customers for about 2 years. My oldest son has been through the entire Tiger program to black stripe, and when we began the Beginners program as a Gold belt, I joined as well. My first hand experience as a TopKick parent is that the level of instruction is top notch. We get a good work out and we are well coached and they have an excellent focus on developing leadership skills for students at all levels of the program. My eldest is now a Green belt, I am Gold, and my next son is Tiger Red Stripe. I bring my 7yrs and 11 yr sons and they absolutely love it. They started 1 year back and never missed singe class that shows how much they are interested in attending Topkick classes. Credit to Master Kim for his patience and exceptional ability to engage the younger kids in martial arts. My 5 and 8 year olds started at TopKick about 2 months ago and have been loving it. They are excited about going to class each week and showing us what they have learned. The instructors have been great. They obviously care about the students and their skills development. The staff have also been accommodating to us when we needed to restart the program because our kids missed several classes due to illness and travel out of town. The facility is clean and modern, though it can be very crowded at popular class times. We have been happy so far and intend to continue with their summer camps as well. read more

My 9 year old son attended the 2017 summer camp and really enjoyed the variety of activities. Due to a last minute schedule change, we were left scrambling for afterschool care and thought we'd try TopKick's program vs. re-enrolling in YMCA. I'm very happy already in just the few short weeks he's been enrolled. There are set times for activities and he is completing homework there. The staff even adjusted the group he was in so he could be with his classmates from school. I didn't have to ask, they spoke with my son directly and acted on his feedback. My six year old daughter and four year old son signed up for trial classes (two half hour sessions for a week for 30 days). We just completed the trial period and made the decisions to sign-up for evening half hour sessions. Both loves going to TopKick classes and they look forward to. Things we like: A good after school activity and has increased self confidence in my kids. The classes provide physical exercise and social and emotional development. Firstly, all of the staff are incredibly helpful and I can't think of a situation where they weren't all cheerful in that "Disney Kool-Aid" kind of way. Kudos to the staff; I'm sure it is hard to maintain that attitude and level of energy. Secondly, all of the instructors and assistants are knowledgeable and of course they each have their own style. My daughters pre-school teacher encouraged us to try out Top Kick. She currently works with their after school care. We are so thankful that Carolyn suggested Top Kick. We started out with a free trial during the summer and instantly I knew it would be a good fit for Marley. Even my baseball loving son enjoyed it. We are so happy to have found TopKick! My oldest son started in July and loves it. His brother just started and really enjoys it as well. My husband was originally skeptical however when we came for the white belt ceremony he loved the environment and was really impressed with the whole operation. My 4.5 year old started a month ago and loves it here. Master Oh is patient with the students and makes tae kwon do fun. They run around and do a lot of fun games revolving around martial arts. They don't attempt to force the children to sit still and obey the whole time. They reinforce obedience and following instructions. My son was able to break his first board within the first month. While I know it was a thinner board, it was great to see the joy and accomplishment across his face. read more

My son was reluctant to join initially, hence my husband also started classes with him. Love the concept of 'family class' wherein parents can join with their child. Now my son actually looks forward to the class and loves this father-son time. The instructors are very helpful and truly dedicated.
