I signed contract with the Frederick Bray & Scarff for an entire kitchen renovation on February 15,…read more2025. Although my experience with my designer Angie-Ange, my appliance rep Nick, and the quality of the work provided by the subcontractors was exceptional, I would not recommend Bray & Scarff to others. The project did not start until July 21, 2025. When I asked why there was such a long delay, I was told by the coordinator that the company had seven active jobs and were too busy! The contract stated the project would be completed around September 21, 2025, but it was not completed until April 21, 2026! The project manager never evaluated the job before it began and his communication was often demeaning and filled with excuses. He allowed all the city permits to expire and then thought I should pay for the extension fees. The project coordinator was totally incompetent. She only reported on work completed, as if I wouldn't know, and did not coordinate any service without being prompted by the designer or myself. The warehouse was incompetent. They left $4,200 of ceramic flooring on a public sidewalk for two days. When they were asked to break the pallet down and stack the tile inside the house, they responded by saying it was "too hot". When they came to pick the tile up, they gouged the base the tree in front of our house and broke the realtor sign in front of our neighbor's home; perhaps they should learn how to operate a hand truck. When the delivered the tile the second time, they crushed six slate path tiles by placing the entire pallet on top of the slate. Because the warehouse did not inventory the renovation items the deliveries were incomplete or missing items required for the subcontractors to complete their work. On two occasions I had to purchase some items at Lowes so the work could be completed. Finally, thank you for assigning Ugur Isik aa a project manager in March 2026. He was professional and worked expeditiously to get all the missing supplies delivered, the worked completed, and the permits signed off.

James understood my priorities and limited budget, we settled on a few color combinations and design elements, then I took home sample tiles to see how they looked in the sunlit room throughout the day. After a month to let the decisions settle, the contractor was setup and the materials ordered. Very important: the contractor worked directly with Mid-Atlantic, I never had to be in the middle to relay installation assistance or anything ever (including ordering a few extra tiles when we had to add a seat to the design after finding in demolition that under the tub the stairway ceiling encroached into the bathroom floor space.) All materials were politely delivered on time, James was always available for my appointments, he worked seamlessly through the COVID shutdown, and they even accepted returns of a few unused pieces to get them out of my garage. Highly recommend, there were way too many choices and gotchas to approach the design on my own. Working with a professional was the way for me. Recommended!

At first we thought this company was awesome, than once we received the order we found that the corner cabinet wasn't put together properly and the trim for over the cabinets were missing. Called Reico and was told we would have to wait for another 6 to 8 weeks for them to be able to get another one out to us, along with the trim (they forgot to put on the initial order) First thought, if they know it takes that long, someone should be doing some sort of inspection before they send out to a customer. Where is the quality control? Mind you, we can't use water in our kitchen till the back splash is installed, which can't be installed till the corner cabinet is installed. 6.5 weeks go by and yeah, corner cabinet is received BUT no trim! Asked the Driver about the missing piece and was told there was no order for a piece of trim on his paperwork. So another phone call and low and behold, someone broke it before it left the warehouse. So guess what, another 6 weeks before we could receive that piece. 6 weeks come and go and finally we got a phone call that it would be delivered by Friday, no surprise we got a Text on Saturday apologizing for the delay, apparently it was delivered to the wrong address!!! Bottom line, I love my new kitchen, my husband did an awesome job, but I could never recommend Reico to anyone in the future. Any company that doesn't take the time to assure the best quality before it leaves the building does not deserve to be in business. And their idea of customer service is to tell you to basically suck it up. The other major issue I have with this company is that they want you to pay in full BEFORE you receive and have the opportunity to inspect. I guess they figure with their track record of quality control they would always be waiting for a final payment. The good news is, while waiting all this time for the cabinets, I got my house painted, wahoo!!

About 30% of what we ordered was messed up. Dings, scratches and gashes in a large amount of them. We even had some issues with the replacement pieces we were sent being scratched or wrong item entirely. We are happy with our end result and the staff have been easy to work with, but I can not recommend them if you are trying to keep to any kind of schedule. Over all the price was good. Quality of cabinets were split. Green Forest Cabinets were good and we are pleased with them, but the more expensive Merillatt cabinets are really bad (do not get these!)

We honestly were disappointed in the quality of the work. The grout is not consistently spread (we will live with that), but the Schluter trim was crooked and the silicone used where the tile meets the countertop had to be re-done. We also asked them to do some additional cleanup work on removing excess grout from tile.

They just work hard all day long. 2) I never had to worry about workers in our home. Honest, polite, professional, kind, and responsive are words I'd use to describe them. 3) Communications were timely and valuable. My advice is to take notes of every communication for reference. In one case we forgot it was our responsibility to acquire an appliance. Uh oh, it was our fault and a written record would have been useful to refer to. Yikes! 4) The budget estimates were honored. there was no bait and switch. Prices were transparent to us. 5) We enjoyed reviewing recommended selections of cabinets, floor, hardware, appliances, sinks etc. Today, we feel somewhat knowledgeable with KBS as our tutors. 6) Cleanup and construction debris was timely. Thanks! 7) The crew was OK with our two dogs. I think our doggies missed them when the jobs were done. Final note: The sign of a great contractor is NOT that nothing goes wrong. Rather it is how the contractor responds when something does go wrong. In this regard, KBS took care of problems I was not even aware of, and when I was, they swarmed to make it right ASAP. For example, a quartz kitchen countertop cracked. Surprised. The piece was faulty. The crack was not due to poor installation. We only had to make one call to Dan who took care of it. Easy peasy. No hassles or haggles about responsibility or cost. Perfect. I've a few more impressive examples. So the more work we observed, the more confident we became in KBS. In my life "trust" is earned and hard to achieve in the contracting world. So, it is with pleasure to say KBS was trusted. We'd hire them again whenever we have a future need. Simply excellent!
