I'm sure Pizza used to be the cheapest of take away options, but these days it seems to be the most expensive.
Worn out from a long couple of days away with work, Mr Marie and I ordered some take away pizza last night from Tops. Two medium pizzas and no frills came to £15, which is just a shade under what we'd usually pay for a tonne of Indian for two, or a wheelbarrow load of Chinese. so it seemed a bit steep, but I was too tired and hungry to care much.
My boyfriend loves Tops Pizza, but I think that's only because, while he likes pizza, he's not massively keen on cheese, and Tops are a bit mean on the cheese front. Personally, I think the pizzas from there are a a bit wrong. The bases manage somehow to a bit dry and chewy, the sauces and cheese are thin, and the toppings aren't particularly flavoursome. It's filling enough, and there's still half of it left in the fridge downstairs, but then that would be the case too had we splashed out on curry.
All told, it's not the best experience. read more
