Topshop is one of the most popular shops in Barrow, especially amongst teens and 20-somethings. Situated above Dorothy Perkins in Portland Walk, it's very central so you can't miss it if you're on a shopping trip. It sells womens clothes, accessories and shoes - nothing else, but what it does do, it does well. Very fashionable and trendy; you're sure to find something you love here for a night out. Disadvantages include the fact that it's one of the more expensive high-street shops (but then again you get what you pay for, and the quality and style of their stuff is great). It is also on the first floor, and access is only via an escalator (up) and stairs (down) - so no good for anyone in a wheelchair or even people with babies in pushchairs. I've never seen a lift, in fact I'm 99% sure there isn't one, rendering the whole of Topshop inacessible to disabled people - which they shouldn't really be allowed to get away with in 2008. They also don't carry many of the Toppshop concessions or 'special' ranges, if anyfor example they only got the first Kate Moss collection and have never had any of the subsequent collections. It is only a very small branch so they do seem quite restricted in the stock they can carry. However, change is in storeDorothy Perkins downstairs is soon to close, with Topshop moving downstairs, and the upstairs is being replaced by a new Topman store - which should offer a bit more choice to the men of the town! It will be interesting to see how it turns out, whether they get any new lines in etc. read more
