Miss Selfridge on the other hand has always been consistently good to me, I've bought tons of things from there that I've loved and whenever I wear them I end up getting complimented! The sizes fit, the prices are reasonable and the clothes are good quality and pretty...what's not to like?! It's quite a girly shop so be warned if that's not your kind of thing!

They had a small opening event with local bloggers / 'VIPs' but also managed to continue the feeling of a launch through their first day, with some smartly dressed waiters handing out drinks in paper cups while people took their first look at the store. I was also greeted by the friendliest front of house / security I think I've ever met, which was a nice surprise! The items are categorised well and everything feels like it has a place, including shoes upstairs and a beauty / homeware section downstairs with some perfume and candles I can already tell will be a regular feature in any future present buying. Although they seem to specialise in light colours and fabrics, dig around a little and you'll find some beautiful metallics and items more suited to the Manchester weather! If Evelyn's is the most Instagrammable restaurant in the city, & Other Stories is the same for fashion. Excellent natural light and desirable products; hopefully they'll stick around for a while.

I went in there once, and I've noticed something that I like. They do size 6 which is great. But unfortunately I didn't find anything that I liked. The Halifax store is only a tiny little shop but they always have a lot of stuff in so it's often quite cramped in there and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone with a pram as you might find it a bit of a struggle! The one thing that I find really lets it down are the staff, I don't think gossiping amongst themselves while serving customers on the till is a very professional attitude to have when working in the retail industry, in fact I find it pretty rude. This isn't just a one off observation it happens every single time i'm in there.

Vivienne Westwood clearly has a soft spot for Mancunians…read more Not only does the city have a gorgeous flagship store on King Street but she's recently opened her first Anglomania branch on nearby Bridge Street. A lovely boutique with polished wooden floors, pastel blue walls and subtle lighting, it stocks a great range of men and womenswear from Westwood's popular Anglomania range. As you'd expect, we're talking beautifully tailored garments made from fine and traditional materials like wool, tartan, cotton and jersey. Naturally, all the clothes have a Westwood twist - from unusual buttons and asymetrical collars and lapels and collars to bold and quirky designs. Of course none of its cheap but that's fashion for you, darlings!
