And clearly in management you jump in when it's busy. It got busy, but Brookly provided service with a smile. Taking orders, getting drinks. Haven't been here in a while but started to again after having a new job that's pretty close to this complex. I am always craving tacos so this place was the only one. Sad to say that I have not felt any improvements since my last review. Today's cashier was alright, had my order to go. Got the trailer park and asked for extra trashy,& got a democrats ?. Anyway, did not get extra trashy for my trailer park :( I was already back at my work when I found out and didn't want to waste more time running back to get a change. Pretty sad. Best tacos hands down! The food definitely made up for the ride and unprofessional gentleman that took our order at the counter. You can order your tacos with corn or flour tortillas and any of their sauces (roja, tomatillo, poblano ranch, chipotle ranch, or diablo sauce). The sauces are made fresh daily, love it. Im not going to lie. Torchy's Tacos is fantastic! We had to go back here twice. They have a myriad of different types of tacos. My first trip I had a spicy chicken taco. I know that's not too diverse but it was real tasty. The next trip I had the breakfast taco, which was only being made for that particular month. It was fantastic. Dallas itself was very surprising to me because of the diversity. It struck me as a very cosmopolitan city. Not something I was expecting. Went here today for lunch after craving tacos, but wanting to try a new place. It's not very obvious from the street; if you're driving on Forest, it's the back of the Potbelly building, with the entrance on the west side. I had already previewed the menu online and made up my mind what to order. Kudos to the double entendre brain that wrote the menu; it's hilarious. I selected a Dirty Sanchez, a Crossroads, green chile queso and a drink. I was quite surprised to see Dublin Dr. Pepper on tap (a first for me), but alas, no Coke Zero, so I drank tea. While awaiting the tacos, we munched on the chips and queso, Both were outstanding; queso was very flavorful with cilantro, queso fresco and Diablo sauce (though it could have used more of that), some of the best I've ever had anywhere. When my order arrived, I actually ended up with the desired Dirty Sanchez, but my Crossroads didn't make it; a Democrat seemed to have been in it's place. The DS was yummy, though it was heavy on the eggs and a little light on the poblano, The Democrat was equally tasty, with tender, spicy meat (really more in small cubes than shredded, though), avocado and onions, topped by me with the supplied tomatillo sauce. My only slight complain overall was that the tortillas aren't QUITE as good as some at more genuine Mexican places (as opposed to Tex-Mex, where the corn tortillas almost universally suck), but still, they were far better than the average tasteless, rubbery things that us gringos get stuck with all too often. I definitely want to come back and try more tacos here; as others ahve warned, though, these are much bigger than Mexican street tacos (e.g. Fuel City), so if you're used to getting 3 or 4 of those, better stick to 1 or 2 here. Queso is one of my favorite foods in the world. If there queso on the menu ay restaurant, I will be trying it. And this is the best I have ever had! The tacos are also delicious! The brushfire taco is my fav! The diablo sauce is aptly named so if you don't like spice, be careful. The sauce comes on the side so you can put on as little or as much as you like. I was most unenthused by the green chile pork, which I know oodles of you here talk about, but it was probably the least flavorful of the bunch. We eventually scooped a pile of the green chile queso into it to amp up taste. Sometimes you just gotta take matters into your own hands. We also tried the Ranch hand (beef fajita + eggs) which was good (eggs=instagood) and Mr. Pink (ahi tuna + avocado) which was fresh and light. Four tacos + green chile queso (drippy and lovely with bits of green chile) was overkill for the two of us, but I did eat some pho an hour prior (because it was there! / because I can!). I don't spend a lot (or any) of time in Austin so I had no idea this place has a cult following from Dallas Austinphiles (If that makes any sense.) so don't knock me for the 3 stars that I'm giving it. First of all I didn't know these bitches were gonna be so fucking fat. My fat ass ordered 3 tacos like I usually do. I had the Trashy Trailer Park, The Democrat, and the Dirty Sanchez. The Trashy Trailer Park was a hot mess, but besides that it wasn't too memorable. The meat in the Democrat seemed like the salt and pepper seasoning was a bit in excess. I'm glad they had the Dr.Pepper with Imperial Sugar on tap to wash down this over-seasoned meat taco. The Dirty Sanchez, I ordered because it was called the Dirty Sanchez. When I got this beast I had to question if it was a taco and if I'm supposed to eat it as such. I ended up eating some of it with a fork till I could actually fold it up and eat like a normal taco. The tacos here seem like they give your money's worth, but I'd rather have a taco with out the excess toppings and hoopla. Just when I thought I had enough how could I pass up the Little Nookies? After having one of the three fried cookie dough balls, my weak stomach didn't have any more room for food so I took the rest home. What is the point of ordering your food 12 hours ahead if you're still forced to wait? I ordered 10 breakfast tacos trashy for pick up at 8:10am and here it is 8:37and I'm still waiting. I even purposely came 10 mins late with hopes that they'd have the food ready on time and I could just pick it up. Nope! What makes the problem worse is every Friday my coworkers and I take turns purchasing tacos and this is a reoccurring event. We pay online and still sit waiting around. Every. Friday! The tacos are amazing, but the organization that goes behind the online ordering and pick up needs to be revamped. Also I wish they had a reward system for as many tacos we purchase as it would be more than beneficial in our case. I understand things happen but this is ridiculous and I will not be returning to this location. Update: I wrote the above while waiting for my food. I got to the office and was disappointed with the tacos too! The brisket was so crunchy my coworkers thought it was bacon on the taco. I ordered two tacos: Trailer park: fried chicken, green chilies, lettuce, pico de gallo and cheese on a corn tortilla (flour tortilla) with pablano sauce (you can chose to 'get it trashy' which means they'll take off the lettuce and add queso) 3.50 ^the fried chicken was so juicy and flavorful Dirty Sanchez: scrambled eggs with a fried pablano chile, guacamole, carrots and shredded cheese, served with poblano sauce on corn tortilla 3.50 ^awesome breakfast taco and lastly... Flour rules! Meaning, skip the hardshell when ordering Torchy's tasty tacos. And they are tasty. Like, -so- tasty! All of the tacos come with a list of unique ingredients and even better names. You can try the Scallywag (coconut shrimp with bacon, green chilles, cheese and pickled onions) or the Dirty Sanchez (yes, that's the actual name, with egg, poblano, guacamole, cheese and other tasty things). I personally prefer the Fried Avocado. Whoever thought to batter and fry an avocado to mix into a tasty taco, is a genius. Their soda fountain has cool "all natural" sodas that taste better than the major lables. Go get your taco on!!! read more

I'm hopping on the Torchy's bandwagon, fo' realz. Got there at the perfect time when the line wasn't out the door (thank goodness) and ordered up some taco amazingness. I wanted to be a super Yelper and pick up as much as I could in one shot- so I ordered a Mr. Pink, chips and queso, and the Trailer Park one, extra trashy (or whatever the verbage is). Mr. Pink- Tuna was not so amazing. My least favorite taco because the tuna was so tough and..weird. Good idea, poor execution, imho. Queso and Chips- my friends and I loooooveedd the queso and chips. Navigating the NIGHTMARE parking lot is worth it for a taste of these tacos! Everyone knows it too: at nearly 2 pm on a week day there was not an open table in the place. This was my inaugural visit to a Torchy's, and the girl at the register was very patient and helpful as I stumbled through my order. They have many options, including a lot that you don't see at the average taco place (ahi tuna, salmon, sausage). The green chile pork was a revelation in tacos. It leaked juice, but you could tell it was juice, not grease. The street corn, mimicking the flavors of the roasted corn you can find on the streets in Mexico, combined aioli (mayo), chile and crumbled fresh cheese atop a bowl of roasted kernels that had been sheared off a cob (some still clung together in rows). Unfortunately, most of the flavor that emerged was...salt. i.e. the cheese. This was certainly not a bad dish but I probably would not choose this again. Torchy's has a variety of pop for sale, from bottled Mexican sodas to Maine Root on tap. I opted for the latter; the root beer is such a flavorful choice compared to the old standards. I rounded out the meal with a "Love Puppy" (which I took home to eat, since it said "best served warm with ice cream." Though I eschewed the ice cream, I did nuke it for a few seconds, which yielded a lovely, gooey chocolate brownie oozing with cajeta caramel. This is about as far from a boxed brownie mix as you can get, folks. Definitely try one. Now that my visit to Dallas is over, I mourn the fact that there are no Torchy's (yet?) in my home base of Chicago. Well I'm torn whether to give 3 or 4 stars. I settled on 4 because for a fast food taco joint it's pretty good (I guess there isn't any other kind of taco place!). Anyway, I must've been craving green chiles because I got the green chile queso and chips and a green chile pork taco. They didn't taste alike tho, so that was good. The queso was really really good, the taco was good enough. I also got a drink for the surprisingly high price of $2.50. They have the Maine Root brand of sodas made with real sugar, but the flavors aren't Coke /Pepsi. I got Doppelganger, which turned out to be a doppelganger of Dr. Pepper (so basically, expensive Dr. Pepper!). The chips were fresh, not too salty. Chips and queso is enough for 2 to share. It was good but I'm not raving. I will be back, I liked it and my brother does rave about it, so I need to try a few more different items when I'm not all about green chiles! read more

Most quirky eatery concepts translate poorly to a chain environment. However, this is NOT the case with Torchy's. The original is a trailer in a vacant lot in Austin but you'd never know it from this spiffy Preston Forest location. These "tacos" are more like Tex-Mex flavor bombs, bursting at the seams with imaginative combos and ingredients like fried avocado and fried chicken (in the Trailer Park, their signature prep). Order two and you have more than a meal. If you are not dining with your cardiologist, add on the green chile queso & chips... what nachos want to be when they grow up. read more
