I have been coming here with my little ones (infants) for over 5 months now. Here are some reasons this place impresses me so much: -brand new location - new furniture, mats; -staff - the regular staff members are very experienced with babies and kids. Trustworthy. Positive people, who are working in a field that suits them well. Some others are adult nursing or early childhood educator students, who are interested in gaining practical experience with all kids. They are all Helpful, and the ones who work there regularly are ALL quite welcoming - to both you and your kids. Genuinely so, it's always seemed; -cleanliness level is high - mats and toys are disinfected regularly. I don't see dust when I visit there. Who doesn't want clean clean clean shining back at you? -welcoming - in how they greet both your kids and you (other parents have noticed this, as well), and also you can help yourself to any tea or coffee (if available) in the nearby kitchen; -circle time - is fun. Songs and rhymes for babies and toddlers; -generous space - one entire room is usually reserved for infants, the other for toddlers; -scent-free place, it seems. Relief! -free workshops (about caring and raising for our children) are offered at this site; -organized. This location has systems in place. A specific place to park and sometimes even lock your stroller. Extra caregivers or staff members are always visible and identified by badges (and by the fact that you'll be approached or offered help); -finally, Support. I'm humbled by how much Support I've received from this place. It's not the closest drop-in to me, but it's got to be my favourite one. I can not rave about this place enough. Non-judgmental, I feel like I can ask them any questions about child-rearing. I feel quite comfortable at this location.

Upon my return back to full time work, Maddie joined the daycare program at 6 months old, where she remained for full time daycare until she transitioned out for school. We have great memories of King West Daycare as a warm and caring environment, with hands-on, individual care for each child in a small, family-oriented group. The space is safe, clean and welcoming, and each child gets lots of attention and growth, plus outside time at local green spaces. Overall, King West Daycare was a wonderful part of our daughter's early upbringing.

Galina (the owner) is the nicest person ever and she LOVES kids. Mine included. Our boy is so happy every day he literally runs to the daycare. I don't know and I don't care if she is a dog, a cat or a horse person. Important thing is that she loves kids and kids love her.

But since the owner decided to come out literally screaming at us on the street because our dog went to the bathroom *beside* her daycare (even though as responsible dog owners we obviously had already picked it up) we would never even consider walking into this place if that's how she treats her neighbours. I'd like to see how she treats all of those other folks who DON'T clean up after their animals. I'm sure she's ever so gentle with children too. Right. Lady, get a clue. You work in a neighbourhood with more dogs than children. Save your screaming rants for those who aren't respecting the neighbourhood. Thanks for saving us the hassle of never dealing with you and your terrible temperament. I will be happy to let all of my pregnant friends in the area to stay away as well.

After having my kids enrolled here for over 4 years, I seriously cannot say enough good things…read moreabout this school and the teachers. My daughter started attending when she was 2 (now 6) and my son began as a toddler at 18 months (now 4.5). The curriculum is expansive, including typical montessori activities/practical life skills (like washing dishes, tying shoelaces, folding clothing, polishing, potty training) but also very advanced academically. Through their guidance my daughter is reading at a grade 4 level and doing math at a grade 3 level as she enters grade 1. My son who is predisposed musically, can sing various beautiful songs in different languages, and has learned to write letters and read phonetically (entering JK). Most importantly, they absolutely Love going to school every day - they have been happy and felt safe there. We have had a few different teachers over the years as we progressed through stages, as well as a few constant (Ms. Eva - we love you!) and they have all been knowledgable, capable and exceptionally kind. They and the staff were always accessible and flexible when needed. And anytime I have gone to the school I witness kids who are happy, having fun and thoroughly engaged in their learning. The facilities themselves are located in the downtown core in an office-type building that initially seemed unusual for a school or daycare - but inside it is truly the sweetest little setup and the classrooms are clean, organized, well appointed and clearly taken care of. The outside area is small, but well utilized, and they also have an indoor playground which is useful for the winter months and bad weather. They've done a really great job with space in the downtown core, and you can really feel the sense of love and commitment to the kids there. Additionally - they include lunches served by ReakFoodForRealKids daily as well as snacks which offers incredible, healthy and diverse food. My kids, who can at times be picky at home, literally rave about the food - and they love that there are always healthy snacks available. Through BBMS we have additionally met a wonderful community of downtown families whose kids regularly meet and play outside of school hours. Our kids have fostered lasting and meaningful connections which continue to be a light in both our kid's and our lives. Every other parent I have ever talked to who actually attended Bluebutterfly also raves about their experience - and many have enrolled siblings after their first. Blue Butterfuly have truly been a rock for us through such integral phases of our children's lives, and in addition, during the pandemic - our family will forever be grateful to the staff and teachers here.

Initially I was a little hesitant about the lack of 'real' outdoor playground feel but that has not mattered at all ..... There is a large play area that my son loves and most importantly we love the flexibility and friendly atmosphere which is important for parents juggling a job and school runs .. BBMS gets a thumbs up from us :)

They follow a curriculum that really prepares them for grade 1 extremely well. Everyday, they monitor the child's progress against the curriculum. They even give a "report card" at the end of the year. The hours are 8:00am to 5:45pm. Morning snacks, lunch, and afternoon snacks are provided. They go out to the Nathan Phillips Square playground in the early morning and late afternoon each day. In the event of rain and bad weather, they use the City Hall gym. For JK and SK, they hold special special interest classes in music, French, and dance. In the winter, they have ice skating in the Nathan Phillips Square rink. In the summer, they have "picnics". Once a year, they have a picnic on Center Island for the entire daycare. They teach the children responsibility and friendly play. If your child has an accident, they write up an incident report. There was a shooting near City Hall once. I happened to be there to witness their emergency protocol (move all children into 2 internal rooms without windows) and keep them occupied. They will call up and email parents to explain what happened.
