The scenery is absolutely stunning, the apartments had good facilities (small kitchen, nice clean bathroom) and there was a nice big swimming pool shared by the apartments. For the wedding a dinner was organised in the castle courtyard with superb food and wine made from the castle vineyards and afterwards we had a big party in the courtyard at first and later between the buildings housing the apartments. For a wedding this is a real idyllic location. For a normal holiday it is also very nice as your pretty close to Sienna, Florence and all kinds of nice Tuscan towns, however you really need a car to get to places. Even if you only want to stay at the castle then you still need to get groceries and since the closest store is at least a few miles away you can't really get there without a car.

Since we had to open windows to get our rooms cool due to the fact that this luxury hotel shuts its AC units starting mid September (!!!!??? What? Never knew that at reservations), our room was extremely noisy from backup beeping of golf carts and just simple people conversing. So I asked for a different room. After much effort, the manager agreed to move me and claimed to have moved me to an upgraded room. That new room was probably the oddest room I've ever seen. A two-story long and very narrow like a hallway. I shut my mouth and accepted it so that I don't seem like a complainer. Hallway room is better than noisy room. But I won't come here again even though we are huge Tuscany lovers . Look elsewhere. This place is not worth it . Don't let the location sway you for a stay.

The bath products were amazing, loved the LED lights in the shower and I loved how we had complimentary turndown service with chocolates. We spent a day at the pool which was very relaxing! We ended our pool day in the spa where we were able to use the sauna, steamroom, and jacuzzi. The hotel had a gorgeous outdoor pool, but for the cooler months there's also an indoor pool. The hotel's morning breakfast was amazing! They had everything from sweet waffles, pancakes, croissants to cheeses and meats, salmon, bacon and eggs, not to mention fresh fruit and yogurt bar. They also have many restaurants, including La Terrazza Restaurant and Il Pievano. Il Pievano has light dishes and is Michelin-starred / rated, while La Terrazza is your more casual dining also where breakfast was served every morning.

The menu included 3 types of bruschetta, tagliatelle with asparagus, chicken with a vin santo reduction, and zabaglione for dessert. This was one of our best meals in all of Tuscany. Not only because of the quality of the food (many of the ingredients came fresh from neighboring farms), but also because of the warmth and hospitality shown by Nonna and Paolo. They were both incredibly kind, genuine, and knowledgeable about the cooking techniques and ingredients, but perhaps the most enjoyable part was their lovely relationship and the way they made everyone in the class comfortable with one another. By the end, we were all laughing and joking together. Please go visit Nonna; you won't regret it!

We stayed in a "condo" style room with a stove and plenty of dishes/pans to cook breakfast in the morning before leaving for the day. The grounds were well kept even though most of the stuff was closed when we went due to it being in the off season. The drive up is a little crazy if you aren't used to driving on tight roads with winding curves, but all of that makes the trip up to your room that much more exciting. Every place you look there are beautiful scenes to be taken in while walking around the place. The rooms have beautiful views of the vineyards down below and the service is excellent. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! - It's only about 40-ish minutes into Florence to catch trains around the country. - There is a grocery store a 5 minute walk up the road. - They do have wine for gifts or for a nice glass each night
