The surrounding atmosphere is wonderful, with narrow streets, local shops, and charming cafés. If you enjoy history and architecture, this is definitely a place not to miss.

Just discovered this great panoramic terrace right by the historic center of town. This would have…read morereceived five stars if it weren't for the narrow stairwell up to the terrace. There are lots of stairs and it is very narrow, so if you want to avoid being stuck between those people wanting to go up and those wanting to go down, you need to go during early morning or late afternoon time slots. Once you reach the top, you are outside on a rooftop terrace where you can see the entire city. The entrance is free, so you won't find anyone working there, you just see the open gate and walk up the stairs. If bringing little kids, definitely not stroller friendly and the stone stairs at the very top can be quite high, so you want to watch the little ones.

We had one night at Hotel Mirage on capo testa and spent a full day exploring…read more The northern and western side of Capo Testa are wilder, less crowded, and full of pebbly beach coves and these huge crazy rock formations that you can spend all day coming up with what they look like, but often feels like a giant boneyard of extinct dinosaurs. I recommend going there for sunset. The tiny strip that connects capo testa to the mainland has amazing but crowded beaches on both sides with white fine sand and turquoise clear water that seems to extend forever. I enjoyed going to the crowded beach in the morning/day and then the end of the day to sunset at the wild north/west beaches. Not too many restaurants/shops on Capo Testa - locals told us to go to mainland Santa Theresa for good pizza, etc, but the small convenience store just past the strip beaches (on your left as you drive from mainland further into capo testa) at least sells cold Prosecco and cold Ichnusa (Sardinian beer that is actually pretty good) - sometimes rare to find stores with drinks already cold in Italy, so this is important if staying at a hotel with no fridge like we were in the end of August ;).

It is filled with several bars, restaurants, few clothing stores and a delicious gelato shop. You will find the square bustling with people during the summer months with even live singing at night. There are a few places along the square to sit and relax while eating a gelato or just people watching. Definitely worth a visit.
