Not a lot of choice in where to shop if you're over a size 12 or so, so whether or not to shop here is not really something a factor, unfortunately. When I came in to pick up an item on hold (it's not listed online, unfortunately) there was no acknowledgment of my existence until I went to the checkout to pick up the item on hold. Not even a hello when I first came into the store. I'm not sure if that's because one or both of the women working had friends visiting or not--although neither seemed to be talking to their friend(s) when I arrived (I know they had buddies there because of the way they were talking when the woman left). They checked out my stuff and when I called to get directions to the store (I can't figure out the layout of the HIP at all) they were helpful, but when I entered the actual store did the very least. read more

I've come in here a couple of times and today confirmed that there are really miserable staff here. I was there earlier today and got a "look" from a woman when I asked if I could try something on, sorry I had to make you actually get up from your chair. She plopped back down and continued to cough and loudly scream from one side of the store to the other, to talk to the other staff. Would it hurt you guys to acknowledge a customer in the store? Torrid offers moderately-priced clothing for curvy girls. The clothes are cute and seem to be made well. I find that I have more luck with jeans and skirts at Torrid than with their selection of tops. This location has the best customer service I've experienced in any store ever. Every person I have ever come across in this store has been friendly and helpful without being pushy. The girl in the fitting room has my heart. She told me I had great legs when I was trying on a skirt. THIS is why I shop here. Where else does a curvy girl get comments about how great her body looks? I really like this place. First of all, there is a TON of cute stuff here! During my hunt for something retro to wear to the Spring Fling tomorrow I had seen a couple of really pretty dresses on the clearance rack that had potential. There were also a lot of trendy clothes, but not too trendy that they would make me look ridiculous. And they make me feel sexy instead of like a fatass ;). I also like that the employees are also plus size, which makes me feel very comfortable to shop there. This place always has something that I want. Not stuff that I always need (do I REALLY need more clothing? Ha!), but want nonetheless. They carry so much to keep all plus size girls looking stylish all year round! They have everything from pj's, to casual wear (hoodies and t shirts), to dresses fit for a wedding or prom! And I own so much jewelry from here, it's ridiculous. RI-diculous! They stuff is so cute, though. Trust me. Today was my first visit here in a long time, and was without a doubt my last. The service was very poor - I was here for over an hour and was never offered assistance, or a dressing room. After waiting a good 10-15 minutes, I got tired of waiting and took one of the two rooms that were open, and wiped off the name on door. I have been a long time customer of Torrid, and spent a lot of money here when the HIP location first opened nearly a decade ago. The service here is nothing like it used to be. I also ran into trouble finding my size here, which is normally a non issue at Torrid, as I am a size 2 in their size chart. This location caters to mostly the larger end of their size chart. Torrid is a great store chain, and this location gives them a bad name. In full disclosure, I did complain about the (lack of) service and was given an extra haute cash card as compensation. I recommend going to the Torrid outlet store in Rosemont, or the location near Woodfield mall in Schaumburg instead. read more

So, I've been shopping at Torrid since I knew that is existed, and I LOVE that I can come in here and buy sexy clothes, or business wear, or casual stuff that actually fits and looks god on me. Why the two stars? Its probably just my personal preference and opinion, but I feel like the styles are getting worse every season. I used to come here and want to buy everything, and now...I'm lucky if I find one or two items in the store that I like. Which is a bummer because I have a problem finding clothing in a style AND size that I like. Maybe Torris is just having a rough period, I'm not sure. Now I'm going to say something about this particular location. I have only been here once, so I imagine I'll go back and see if its the same. The people working here are generally awesome, but sometimes they just don't know when to leave you alone. I think their DM was in the store the same day, so that might have had something to do with it, but when you ask me a question about what I need the item for and I reply that I need it "to wear" that is your cue that I don't feel like chatting. I shopped in a Torrid store for the first time today. I've shopped online plenty because I'm anti store and I never receive good customer service. First I was greeted by Megan who i think was the store manager. She was all the way in the back and noticed me come in. (points for that!) She then selected a couple pairs of jeans for me to try on and Erica further assisted me. Erica didn't complain about the jeans not initially fitting me and simply went to get another pair. It was a great experience. I found the perfect jeans for my body type, great customer service and the jeans were 30% off. Ladies, go get some jeans from this Torrid. If I could avoid going in this store I would. In fact, I do avoid it. I used to love coming to this location and shopping around and now I can't stand it. It's always so overpacked with clothes that I can't look at anything without 3-5 items falling off of the rack. It's a mess; sizes are mislabeled and I can't get to clothes that I want to look at because there are racks literally rolled up against where the clothes are. I tried to find jeans today, which was a nightmare - they are all over the place and folded in a way that you can't see half of the sizes. But that isn't even the topper from today's visit. I go into the fitting room area and there is a girl working back there unpacking stuff or whatever, basically organizing clothes. I say hello, my arms full of clothes to try on. She wordlessly stops what she's doing to unlock a door for me and let me in, and then wordlessly walks away. Never even a hello or anything. Not five minutes into me being in there she UNLOCKS my fitting room to let another person in! I was standing there half dressed like, hello!? The other customer looked embarrassed and apologized. The employee, however, never freaking apologized for showing my goods to strangers. Listen, I don't need you to kiss my butt when I'm shopping. In fact, I pretty much like being left alone. However, you should greet people, especially if they greet you. Furthermore, you shouldn't show their half naked body to strangers and not apologize for it. Mistakes happen; own up to them. If I had not been there to exchange jeans I bought online I would have left. And I never did find a decent pair of jeans buried in the piles of pants that made no sense. If I could easily shop elsewhere I could. This place has decent clothes in sizes that most people don't carry, so I want to like it. I'm having a hard time with it lately, though. read more

This is the first Torrid I've ever been to where the employees actually seemed interested in helping me find cute clothes that fit. I've found some really cute items in this Torrid and I really appreciate the cute blonde gal who works there, great sense of style and humor - sorry, terrible with names, wish I could remember yours! I remember when Torrid was punk, and then they transitioned into a weird Avenue clone with clothes for 40-year-old librarians, and then finally settled back to a middle ground. I'm giving this location 4 stars for Jasmine. Her customer service is always on point. Retail is hard mentally some days, you really have to be aware of your attitude. Jasmine is always happy to help. On the other hand I have been here when Jasmine isn't and the customer service is seriously lacking. I've been ignored, I've walked out. I had a lot of time to kill the other day, so I walked in just to browse. I know that I can't fit the clothes here, but I saw some really cute 80's pointy pumps through the window that I really wanted. The staff here was really nice..but immediately asked me if I understood how their sizing worked. I kind of got the stink eye from quite a few customers while I was browsing. They actually have some cute stuff here. In fact, I found a really cute plaid pencil skirt in their clearance section that was damaged. It didn't matter that the zipper was broken, for the price, I could easily have it tailored to fit me and it would totally be worth it. There was a lot of clothes in the clearance section that were ripped or damaged. My husband on the other hand was not at all thrilled. The ladies that work here are very nice and helpful. I feel bad that they have to work with such an antiquated computer system though. Making online returns is quite the process. Unfortunately, it takes quite a while because of the system they use. So, why do I order online you ask? Because the store is too small and cramped to really be able to shop adequately. I find many items online that I can't see in the store because they are buried behind something else or crammed on a rack. Again, I don't see this as the employees' fault. They are making due with the space and computer system they were given. But, c'mon headquarters! Get with the times and upgrade your computer system for the sake of your employees and your customers! Torrid is plus size fashion for the younger crowd- they have many different "hip" tshirts and jeans. Although the quality is not as great as you would expect, the clothes are pretty much what is in fashion right now, and the clothes will last about as long as that fashion trend takes to go out of style. I will tell you that around the holidays, they have a great selection of party dresses that will work with any age. The prices are not cheap, but if you check out the clearance and sale racks, you can usually find clothes that the younger crowd feels are too old, and then you can grab a great bargain. I love coming in here. There are so many helpful sales associates. I have worked in retail for years and can be pretty jugdemental about customer service. They have a big selections of fashionable pieces and they help you make outfits. If you sign up for their divastyle rewards card then you can get info on sales. My favorite is the 50% of clearance one. They have it a couple times a year. I love working with Kris, Cynthia and Ashley. They introduce themselves and seem to give genuine advice. They tell me if something looks bad and i shouldn't get it. I really appreciate that honesty. They have recently started carrying really sexy lingerie. One time they didn't have the size i needed in a pair of skinny jeans and Ashley offered to order it for me from another store. They called me when it came in and put it on hold for a week. They are now my favorite jeans! I highly recommend this store. read more

My sister went in there yesterday to return some clothes she had received as a gift, tags still on, but no receipt. She couldn't even exchange them for a store credit, their "new policy". If I am paying $50-$70 for a pair of jeans, and decide I do not like the fit when I try them on again at home (where everything looks different), I would hate to have to be a receipt chaser worrying that I could not return them. I probably will not be returning to this store. I would rather take the hit or miss of online stores, because at least you can return your items there. read more

There is a girl there who I believe is new. I get the employees need to make recommendations as to sales this and the other. But being asked repeatedly over and over again if I want a credit card is frankly annoying and uncomfortable. No is no. Please stop harassing customers while they shop. My only complaint is that with how pricey the store is, it should last longer. I've never gotten a pair of shoes, belt, or pants that didn't ripp, wear out, or fall apart within three months. I come here often. Sometimes I buy sometimes not. But I always get great service. I'm always greeted and I'm always acknowledged if the line is long which makes me not mind the wait at all. Today I went in to pick up some cropped jeggings which I didn't try on. Needless to say I went home and they did not fit. I called the store and Monica looked for the size I needed. They were sold out but she offered me a similar style and put them on hold for me. I just went in to pick them up, tried them on and loved them. The customer service here sucks. Expect long lines and a long wait time to be checked out. There are about 4 or 5 workers, but only one runs the register. It's ridiculous. Jasmine and the male worker whose name I didn't have a chance to learn, don't do much. I mean, sure, she runs the register occasionally, but I'm convinced she just goes to the back and just doesn't do anything. You're not even greeted when you walk in, and there are clothes everywhere. Completely disorganized. Luckily Monica was not working last time I came in, because I would've had a fit. Would not recommend this place. It's just awful. read more
