I had guacamole, some sort of ridiculously spicy salsa, veggie chilli, jalapenos and rice in my burrito. For a small burrito it was very filling, especially with the lovely tortilla chips. The guac was delicious and balanced out the spices a little. The water took the edge off the spice, but not much. Like a proper kick though, so was delighted with this. You can choose between mild, medium, hot and extra hot. The place itself is quite small. The table I sat at still had the last customer's leftovers there, but it was busy when I arrived so can forgive them for that. You can buy bottles of hot sauce here and they do Swipii points. Yay! Can't wait to go back! Will check out the city centre shop next time.

I phoned a few days in advance and could only get a table for 8pm on a Wednesday - they try to do their dinner service in two seatings, so it's either pre theatre if you're in early, or a la carte at the 8pm seating. When we arrived our table wasn't ready and so we were told to sit at another one, but then those guests arrived and so we moved to stand up again. The space is really small and so it's a little pokey/awkward - especially as the group who were at our table were asked to finish up and one of the guests seemed really miffed about this. Anyway, we were seated and given some menus, tortillas and margaritas while looking over the menu. I ordered the empanadilla with beef, chorizo & cheese to start, followed by the taco station. I had definitely scoffed too many tortillas but the empanadilla was delicious - served with a lovely sour cream sauce and actually quite big for a starter. The tacos were a mix of crispy corn and soft shell tacos and you can choose whatever fillings you want from about 8 options. I had refried bean, salmon and chicken which were all lovely. The chicken had some apple mixed through it which was odd but a nice twist. Our bill was about £24 each including tip and soft drinks and service was super friendly and helpful, even though they were clearly rushed off their feet. I can't wait to go back!

Random aside... funnily enough, over dinner the other night with a fellow American, we were just discussing how British interpretation of Mexican food is sooooo beyond off. She was telling me about her adventures of seeking Mexican in London... while I explained I've given up, and have been fulfilling my Mexican food needs at home with my very own tortilla press. *sigh* Anyway, so I approached Bibi's with the mentality "this is not Mexican food... this is not Mexican food". Upon arriving, we were sat at our table by the very friendly hostess and served complementary margarita shots. Half of the 10/11 tables were occupied, which included a birthday party. The service was great and friendly. We were served chips and salsa, which I was pretty pleased with. Followed by a chicken quesadilla start... also pretty tasty. Then we both had beef burritos... now these burritos were OK, but it was like they used Hormel canned chili (google if you're not familiar) with chunks of CARROTS for the burrito filling. I always tell my friends back in Mexico about the things they serve here in the UK, and we all get a real kick out of it because it's so not Mexican (especially the chunks of carrots in burritos). I only ate about half of it and I was done. So if you take the approach that this is not real Mexican food, then you'll be pleased with the freshness and satisfied. My friend chose the fajitas and requested gluten free tortillas and an extra hot sauce when ordering (she wanted a proper spice kick!). The waitress suggested the habanero and brought this as an extra for her at no additional cost. The fajitas came sizzling and smelled amazing, my friend confirmed, yip, they were as amazing as they smelled! By that point we were well and truly stuffed so couldn't manage dessert, however I did see the churros go past to another table and they looked delicious! DEAL ALRET! I managed to sign up to their wifi and downloaded their app while we waited on our mains and discovered they do this thing called "Wednesday Wow" which gets you 20% off food each and every Wednesday - ker-ching! DEAL ALERT #2! On signing up on their app they will send a £10 off voucher for your next visit - what's not to love about that!? What I don't want is to get up from my table, cross the restaurant and stand in a queue to place my order. Where did you come up with that idea? Is it really more efficient than getting your more than capable staff to just do table service? I mean, really, it's a gimmick and I hate it. Your menu is vast, and as a veggie i'm not used to being given such choice, so I salute you for that. That doesn't, however, absolve you of your sins. Dennistoun BBQ does super casual dining really well. You order at the counter and wait around 10-15 minutes (maybe longer if its super busy) and then they'll shout your name so you can grab your food. I have very specific taste in beef burger so more often than not, I start with a chicken burger at a new place before trying a beef one - I think chicken is generally done better than beef. This chicken burger was RIDICULOUS in size, it was mostly all hanging out of the bun as it was so big. Am I complaining? No way, it was absolutely delicious and had that juicy, smoky freshness from grilled chicken that so many places screw up by overcooking. It was hard to eat though so I ended up just aiming on eating the fillet rather than the burger. I tried a couple of sides; cajun fries and mac cheese. The cajun fries are amazing and probably the best I can remember eating in Glasgow. There was just the right amount of seasoning and they packed a good punch. You know what makes Cajun fries even better? Dipping them into mac cheese. Oh yeh, I went there and I'm not ashamed. My friend Sharon M wasn't all that impressed with the mac cheese but she is pretty judgemental (I mean that as a compliment, she makes a damn amazing mac cheese) - personally, I liked it. It was cheesy, the mac was cooked just right. Simple, and good. This isn't the kind of place to eat and then sit about chatting with your pals, so we headed up the road for dessert. I like to sit in, although it's not the comfiest seats the stools do the job and there's various adapters and power points for you to charge your phone. Once you get the hang of it you can get some really tasty Italian dishes here. I love the pasta best. I love it so much I tried to replicate it at home. It was well... interesting and just proved how good Via Italia is. I have also signed up for the Swipii loyalty card, I've still to reap the benefits but look forward to it and also in my other favourite Swipii places. I was a little confused as I assumed that was a hot dog but nope, it's a burger. What's in it? Beef patty, double bacon, bone marrow, Roquefort butter, caramelized onion and black truffle mayo on the side. And it came with chips. There was a bit of a wait but we were drinking with friends so weren't too bothered. The burgers were nicely presented on a tray with the chips in a pot. Excellent chips and I really liked the black truffle mayo. The burger was obviously the highlight though - it was totally delicious. I actually don't eat too many beef burgers these days as I find a lot of them are overcooked and bland but this was heaven - perfectly cooked meat (rare) and the Roquefort was just the perfect match as it really gave the burger a punch. The combination of flavours was just perfect for me and I really enjoyed it. I've had some good burgers in my time and I really do mean it when I say this is right up there at the top. My only negative comment is really the pricing - £13.50 for a burger and chips is pretty hefty but I can also understand why as this is a special pop up burger which tastes amazing and obviously uses quality product. For me, I wouldn't have this burger every day but as a special occasion treat, hell yes.
